I’m in a bad mood.
- I’m sick. (Not sick enough to really deserve to whine, but bad enough that I’m missing a fantastic blogging trip.)
- I’m tired. (I shouldn’t really be as I got a good sleep last night, but I suppose point #1 isn’t helping.)
- I’m overwhelmed. (I have too much to do and am rather blinded by it all.)
- I’m cranky. (Bottom line.)
I hate being in a bad mood and I wish I could say it rarely happens… but… I’m a worn-out, stressed-out, too-busy, work-at-home mom. And it definitely happens.
What about you? When was the last time you were just down-right cranky? And how did you get out of it?
For me right now, I think the only solution is to get some sleep. And considering it is after midnight, I figure that’s a reasonable solution. Hopefully, when I wake up my bad mood will be gone.
But tell me… what is your cure for crankiness?

I am in a bad mood every day for some reason or another, usually because I didn’t sleep well. Sunshine usually helps my mood.

As a work at home mom, sometimes I just need to get out of the house and socialize with some other adults to get out of a bad mood. Or just a walk in fresh air!
Sally says
A nap usually works for me…and dark chocolate. 🙂 Hope your mood gets better. You make me smile!

Vitamin D supplements! With Omega 3’s. They boost immunity as well as magically fix my mood.
Sherri says
A nap would be #1 on my list, which I just did 🙂 and a nice glass of red wine would be #2, which I’ll be having in about 1 hour and 8 minutes. Bye bye Cranky pants.

Yes! I have been sick for the last 3 days with something awful. It could just be a mega bad cold, but it hurts to cough, hurts to sneeze, and I ache all over in general. I have a runny nose too, like a drippy water faucet. All of this puts me in a very cloudy mood. My poor boys!
I just send the boys outside to play, and curl up with my crochet. Or, if they are playing in their rooms, I go lay in bed with the t.v. on. I seem to be happier if dont have to be mad at them.

With an almost 2 year old-no ME time. And no wine right now. So good coffee and GREAT chocolate! 🙂

Um….just about everything everyone on here said…ditto…. cranky, over worked on all fronts, stressed….etc. I have been feeling overly stressed cause Hubby and I desperately want to move back to Colorado so we can once again enjoy 300 sunny days a year, unlike the 300 some cloudy, misty, rainy days a year in WA State! Cure for me would be for hubs to land a job!

hmmm… the last time I was cranky was today!! It has been a rough week for both of us apparently! I’m sorry you are missing your trip. That so sucks.
I’m overwhelmed too.
What do I do? Umm… completely unhealthy things like eat ice cream and watch too much tv. Ya. I’m awesome like that.
Thinking of you today my friend! *hugs*

I have been in a bad mood for awhile and it is due to lack of sleep, being over worked and feeling like I am being pulled in 5,000 different directions. I say I just need sleep which often does the trick and maybe play some music but my husband thinks I am burnt out on a lot of things. I am starting to believe that is what it is, my mind just doesn’t want to function for now.

Taking a break is my cure for crankiness. When I get overwhelmed my efficiency goes WAY down. If I take a little time out to do something I enjoy, I’m much more productive when I get back to it.
I guess the cold is your forced break. Not the most fun, but hopefully it passes soon.

I usually need to take some “me” time which often involves curling up with a movie and a cup of hot chocolate and just a bit of down time. I’m also reading a lot of FlyLady testimonials right now in my email. It serves a couple purposes:
1. It’s cleaning out my never-ending inbox.
2. It’ reminding me that I’m not alone in what I struggle with as a mom and person.
I also try to hop around a few blogs and leave positive comments for other people. It’s harder to be mean to myself when I’m being nice to others.
*hugs*

I slept… LOL
I feel a lot better today… how are you?

Doing MUCH better!! XOXOXO!!

Sleep. And I go read some funny stuff. Or I read about people who have it worse than I do. Although sometimes I just wallow, because it can be cathartic to be cranky and admit that you feel powerless over crankiness. This too shall pass, as they say.
Angela says
Sounds like my life lately! Hang onto your friends. Try to list your joy / blessings. It’s hard though.
Susan says
Thanks Angela. Yes, I try to often count my blessings… it’s funny yesterday how I just didn’t even want to count my blessings, I just was too cranky. LOL
Angela says
LOL – when I’m cranky I’m the same way – blessings???!?! Let me wallow in the muck first!

I’m with you on the crankiness. I’ve been tired, overwhelmed, stressed and cranky too. I’ve tried taking a nap but napping makes me feel worse. The only thing that has made me feel a little better is a nice hot shower, some yummy chocolate, and finding some time while the baby naps to do something just for me. I’m going to watch Downton Abbey online. Have you seen this series? If you like period dramas, you might enjoy it.
Hope you start feeling better soon!
Susan says
Thanks Shelly,
I love napping but the trouble is that when I have so much work to do that it tends to pile higher while I’m asleep. LOL.
I’ve never seen that series, but what I love is a good laugh from a short TV show like Modern Family.

I think every mom deserves a time to relax and just rest from all the pressure of raising a family. I always tell my mom that she works too hard and that she needs to relax. Hope you find time for yourself.
Susan says
Yes, it is the eternal struggle for moms.
Susie's Homemade says
A glass of wine and a bubble bath:-)
Susan says
I almost never have bubble baths, but I almost treated myself last night. I should do that more often.
Nolie says
My cure is locking myself in my room for a nap or just some quiet time away from the family. Hope you got some sleep are are feeling better today.
Susan says
Thanks Nolie… yes a nap is my fav cure. I’m feeling much better now after catching up on some extra sleep. When I’m over tired, I’m at high risk for crankiness.
Nolie says
I think we are all cranky when sick or needing some extra sleep and TLC. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
