So, I am laying here in bed, struck down with an ear and throat infection. I wouldn’t normally complain so much but this darned infection has also struck down my plans to fly to LA and meet Elton John.
Yes, the kind doctor at the clinic looked into my throat and ears, handed me a prescription for Amoxicillin and, since I blew my eardrum back in August landing in New York for BlogHer, strict instructions to stay away from airplanes for the next ten days.
Since I was due to fly out Friday morning and it is now Tuesday, my trip to Beverly Hills is officially off.
I am reeling from disappointment because, thanks to Disney, I was going to be flying down to meet a great group of mom bloggers and to see the premiere of Touchstone Pictures’ animated feature Gnomeo and Juliet, walk the red carpet, and interview and party with the stars including, yes… Elton John!
(Should I admit that I am old enough to have had many, many years of listening to Elton John?)
I was so excited to be seeing my good friend Louise from MomStart and meeting, for the first time in person, my friend Jennifer from 80 Mph Mom.
I’ll also miss hanging out in Hollywood with these other great bloggers:

Have you seen the trailer yet for Touchstone Pictures’ animated feature Gnomeo and Juliet? I think it looks a ton of fun so check it out.
The greatest love story ever told, starring…garden gnomes? In the upcoming “Gnomeo & Juliet,” Shakespeare’s revered tale gets a comical, off-the-wall makeover. Directed by Kelly Asbury (“Shrek 2”) and showcasing both classic and original songs by Elton John, the film features the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as Gnomeo and Juliet, who have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors. But with plastic pink flamingos and thrilling lawnmower races in the mix, can this young couple find lasting happiness?
Two garden gnomes, Gnomeo (voice of James McAvoy) and Juliet (voice of Emily Blunt), try to avoid tragedy and find a happy ending to their star-crossed love affair when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors.

The moment Elton John sing, I had a ghost bumps specially when he sung A whole new world. How I wish I can see Him personally.

Thanks Silvia. I admit I’m dwelling in a touch of self-pity tonight as I should be packing to leave tomorrow am. LOL

I’m so sorry you had to cancel your trip! I always seem to get sick at the worst possible moments too! Hope you have another chance one day to party with Elton – and I hope you are feeling better soon.
Susan says
I’m generally such a germ freak and worry so much about catching something before I have to go away. But with kids, you can’t avoid germs and yes, it often happens at the worst time.
Brigetta Schwaiger says

Susan says
Yes Bonnie… I am very fortunate that I get to travel often so I don’t want to sound like I’m feeling too sorry for myself. LOL
I’m sure we’ll meet soon!
Jacqueline says
Aww, that stinks! I had to turn the trip down too unfortunately. :(. I’m nursing and I wasn’t allowed to take the baby with. I’m know exactly how you feel!
Susan says
I’m sorry to hear you also had to turn the trip down. I had to turn lots of trips down for the two years I nursed Sophia… But that precious time of nursing is worth it.

OH NO!!! I am so sorry I won’t get to meet you, and even more sorry for you that you cannot go. I know how much you were looking forward to this. I hope you will feel better very soon, and yes, flying right now is probably a bad idea. ((hugs))
Susan says
Yes, it is a drag all right. Funny thing is before that flight in August when my ear drum burst, I’ve never had any troubles with my ears flying. But now I have to be extra careful.
Louise says
Oh Susan,
I am so sad as well. I was so looking forward to seeing you. Get well soon!! You’ve been though enough already!!!
Susan says

Angela says
Aw man, that stinks! Too bad you can’t drive there. Elton John is coming here to our little community but it’s not like it’s a meet or greet though. Get better soon!! I know how bad ear infections can make you feel.
Susan says
Yeah, it would take too long to drive there as it would mean being away from my girls for even more days. If I were young and without kids, then sure I’d have driven.
Erica says
Elton John is just awesome 🙂
Susan says
Yes, I’m a long time fan of Elton.
