When it comes to camping or meal prep, foil packet meals are definitely the way to go. Today, we’re sharing our oh-so-easy recipe for Sausage Foil Packets.
Hey, everyone! It’s Lisa, and I’m back in action to showcase our very own recipe for Sausage Foil Packets.
With summer coming up, I know there are lots of you who’ll be going on family camping trips. Camping can get tricky when it comes to planned meals. There’s always a challenge when it comes to deciding what to pack, what to prepare and how to ensure that you’ll be eating tasty food.
Our recipe for Sausage Foil Packets is a breeze to put together. Foil packets are ideal for camping vacations. The sky’s the limit when it comes to ingredient variety. For our recipe, we focused on sausage with a potato base.
Here’s how to make it:
Camping Prep: How to Prepare Sausage Foil Packets
Ingredients Needed
- 6 smoked Polish sausages
- 6 small yellow potatoes
- 1 small onion
- 1 zucchini
- 1 red bell pepper
- 2 tbsp dried thyme
- 4 tbsp olive oil, divided
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Yields: 3-4 servings
Prepare the Heat!
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F or, preheat a gas or charcoal grill over high heat
Aluminum Wrap
Cut out 4 pieces of aluminum foil, about 1 foot long (12 inches).
Delicious Meat
Slice sausages and set aside. Personally, I like using kitchen scissors to cut any type of sausage. It keeps it from getting squished and losing its outer skin.
Get Choppin’!
The main work when making sausage foil packets is the chopping the veggies: dice onions, cut potatoes into 1 inch pieces, slice zucchini and chop red bell pepper.
Assemble the Sausage Foil Packets
Divide your sausages, potatoes, onion, zucchini and red pepper equally amongst 4 foil sheets.
Season It!
Close it All Up
Seal each foil packet by folding it over in the center and then folding over each end.
Ready to Cook!
If baking in the oven, place on a large baking sheet to avoid any mess. Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
If grilling, grill for 15 to 18 minutes or until cooked through.
Bon appétit!
Yup – it’s really that easy to put it all together! What’s great is that you can prep this at home and place it in your cooler so that it’s ready to cook for your camping adventures.
I love the fact that this sausage foil packet is heavily potato-based. Also, the fact that everything is sealed in the same packet means all of the flavours fuse and cook together. The result? A delicious meal for the entire family to enjoy!
