Tonight as I was feeling overtired and worn out, I watched a few videos that shook some sense into me.
As I recently shared, I’m passionate about World Vision’s sponsorship programs and I especially love their gift catalog.
As I was browsing through the World Vision Facebook pages, I watched a few videos.
They’ve created a series of videos called “In search of the True Spirit of Christmas…“.
Watching people in need truly breaks my heart and makes me wonder, “Why?”
I can get so focused on the enormous, unsolvable issues that I have a hard time seeing any individual blessings.
But, I need to try. To try and focus on one gift at a time. It’s so hard to believe that one gift helps at all… there are too many in need… we can’t help enough.
It’s like me to get overwhelmed. Even a pile of laundry and a sink full of dishes can take me out.
But I need to remember their strength. I need to not be so overwhelmed that I don’t reach out and help at least one. And then, once I’ve given one gift, I can give another… and then perhaps another… BUT that is for tomorrow. For today, I give one. I help one.
This year, I’m finding Christmas Spirit in the power of one gift.

I’m feeling the Christmas spirit and seeing it in my children more and more as we’ve minimalized the GETTING and increased the giving. We are especially remembering to focus on the true meaning of Christmas and not getting caught up in the chaos that can happen this time of year.

Great post, Susan! It is so true – our lives are so blessed, and yet I find myself dissatisfied with the smallest of inconveniences. There are so many who would be blessed to have the things we find as inconveniences!!
Merry Christmas!!

It really is overwhelming to think of all those in need. But you are right. If we each can just start by giving one gift, whether it’s an act of service, a smile, a compliment, etc…then at least we are making an effort to bring joy to someone else. Thanks for this post! Merry Christmas!
