I’ve been giving video reviews a try over at 5 Minutes for Books, and there’s been a bit of a learning curve. Sometimes I come off sounding like a prim uptight English teacher (wait, I WAS an occasionally uptight English teacher for a few years!). Other times when I watch the videos, I am riveted to my own image up there. Where did all of those facial lines come from? And what’s with the weird eye blinking??
The first time I felt completely relaxed and had fun with it was when my 7th grade daughter Amanda and I did a video review for Meg Cabot’s new YA book Abandon.
I was pleased with how it came out, and I look forward to co-reviewing more YA books. But what’s even better than that is that Meg Cabot posted a link to our review and giveaway and video review on her Facebook page, saying
“OMG, it’s the cutest mother/daughter video EVERRRR!”
If you don’t think that praise put a smile on my daughter’s face, you’ve got another thing coming! And our site hits went through the roof over the next couple of days!
You can watch the video above, but you don’t want to miss out on our exclusive Q&A with Meg Cabot, as well as a chance to win a cool silver bracelet and the Abandon novel. The giveaway closes at midnight, so click through now!
You can check out all of our video reviews at the 5 Minutes for Books YouTube channel.
