I Think These Contractions Are Starting To Mean Business…

So I’m going to begin my trek to town to get to the hospital.

If I lived a mere 5 minutes from the maternity ward, I’d stay home much longer. But I have rush-hour traffic starting up soon on a 1.5 hr route that includes a tunnel and a bridge both of which routinely block up with some sort of road rage multi-car pileup.

It’s almost 6 am here and I’m rather tired as I couldn’t sleep last night and at 1 am I decided to finally pack my bag to bring to the hospital. (I tend to procrastinate about these things.)

I’ve been having these minor contractions for the last day or so and they are getting much stronger… owwww… one is happening right now. Of course, I’ve been too disorganized to time them… I’m really not a pro at this whole pregnancy and birth thing.

Okay, that contraction is over now.

So, perhaps I’m jumping too soon to hit the road, but my biggest nightmare is giving birth in a traffic jam. At least this way I should hopefully make it safely to the hospital, even if they do turn me away. If that’s the case, I’ll go shopping at the mall or something and walk around trying to get this baby moving. It’s time for her to come out and meet us all!

I’ll have Janice keep you all updated if anything related to serious labor begins.

(ps. I’d love your prayers that this delivery goes smoothly.)

UPDATE: This is Janice – I am just heading out to the hospital now. (Yes, Olivia is going to be at her cousin’s birth!) The last time we heard from Susan (an hour or two ago) her contractions were five minutes apart and she was only 3cm dilated. But since it takes so long to get into the city, I am going to leave now. I will update when I get home after Sophia arrives. Thanks for all your prayers and support!

I am praying now…even though I may have missed the labor part…
Dear Lord, I pray that you would wrap your loving arms around Susan. I pray that labor is going well…progressing…and that there is minimal pain 🙂 I pray that you will give her peace, and that all goes well. I pray that as little Sophia enters the world, you will give her strength, and help her to be healthy. I pray that there are no complications. I pray that you will be with both of them through recovery, bonding time, and the first few days of birth/post partum. I pray that you will be with everyone helping her. I pray for little Sophia that she will come to know you someday. Thank you for being such an awesome God! We praise you because, as Psalm 139:14 states: “I (Sophia) is fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I (we) know that full well.”
God bless you, Susan…and the little (BIG) miracle that God has blessed you with! He chose you for her! Happy Mommy-hood!
