Slow Computer?
Blogger taking too long to load its comment box? Site not downloading fast enough? Sometimes it seems like I spend a lot of time waiting for my machine to catch up. So for all those waiting moments when online, I try to keep a stash of to do items handy, like opening a stack of mail or sorting a pile of papers. Then I can take advantage of those seconds and get other tasks done while I play online. Perhaps you already do this – or maybe your computer is faster than mine. But hey – it works for me when my computer isn’t quite as fast I want it to be. For more great “Works for me Wednesday” tips, visit |

Well, I’m gonna have to One Up some of your suggestions here. For one thing, I am now using the new, improved PC Speedboost (yes..same company). They (Boost Software) have taken customer feedback and improved an already solid registry cleaning software and made it even more efficient. It could cut down on some of the time you take to organize, while things are loading up:-) But, it’s really nice to be able to rely on a good product that networks with AHM’s like me. I can use as much help as I can get!

You may have to clean up your PC in order for you get your computer to run faster. Try PCHealthBoost.

I gotta chime in here. Even tho I do live in the country, I do want my pc performance to be on par and bring up webpages (and comment boxes) quickly. A couple of you mention PC Healthboost, so I gave it a try. Yes, my system was sluggish and I was beginning to see a few error messages every now and then. Well, no more. PC Healthboost sure did the trick. The first time I ran a scan and allowed it to fix the issues I could tell a noticeable difference. Love this “Learning Community” thang…..I can learn so much from others with the same issues.

Every little bit helps. When I have had these slowdown issues, it makes me feel a little jerky every time I start a new little task while waiting for a page to load up. It just seems like my PC is trying to tell me something when it begins to slow down and act sluggish. So I have also tried that registry cleaning software by PC Healthboost and what a difference it has made! I still may have to wait a couple of seconds for a page or document to load up, but at least I know that I won’t be experiencing any major problems with my computer due to real threats, like a virus or spyware. I just let these moments of exercising patience create a time to take a break in-between whatever I may be working on.

I used to do the same thing, only every day b/c my PC ran soooo slow. My husband got tired of my complaining and used PC HealthBoost to clean it up, so now it runs fine. So, now I have no excuse when I get off track and end up playing a game on FB when I should be doing school work, lol. He calls it slacking, I call it compartmentalizing my computer time.

Multi-tasking Mom! I love it! Thanks for stopping by my site yesterday!! My husband did my blog design. He’s a web/graphic designer, and I do love to scrapbook! I’m horribly behind though and am going to try to catch up before I have baby #2 in November!

Thanks Janice!! I need to learn how to better “fill up” my waiting time! I think I have a lot of wasted time in my life, that I could easily be getting stuff done!!
Blessings!!

Yes Rachel – I was worried that people would be disappointed. So I was going to include a tip to make sure you clean out your computer to keep it working at the best speed possible.
But thanks to Gibee for mentioning that. I also have my hard drive too clogged with photos so i get low on virtual memory from that too. So the other day I did a big clean out. But I still need to clean out more.
But sometimes it is just an external thing – like Blogger being slow etc.
GiBee says
I think you can speed your computer up by routinely “cleaning it out” — as in — going under Tools, Internet Options, click and on Delete Files (I usually click the box for “delete all offline content”). Don’t forget to clean your cookies out, too. That usually seems to speed things up.

That is a good idea! I’ve always done the same, altough its sometimes not tasks. Sometimes I read a book I’ve been working on!

Did you read my mind this morning???? I mean really, I’m having connection issues with blogger LOL
This is a great idea, going to start doing this myself 🙂

Good idea. But first I have to clear my computer desk which is a thing for Tackle It Tuesday! 🙂

This is really very practical. I do most of my online at work however… so I guess I could actually fit all my WORK around that time. Except we have a T1 so it is zippity fast. Hence the reason I do the blogging over work hours.
But at home, this would be EXTREMELY doable.
Thanks for the tip.

the link above is not working…try this one.

I usually use my slow moments to clean up the clutter that constantly finds its way to my desk, although since I’ve gotten satelite internet I’ve not had much slow time…
Gina C says
Great idea! I also use the time to sort through my cluttered desk.

I try to keep busy during slow computer times too. Often I’ll have a book handy, or my cell phone has Tetris on it and I whip it out for a quick game. 🙂 Great tip!
I’ve posted a WFMW tip as well. Stop by and take a peek. 🙂

This is a great idea! I was hoping you were going to have suggestions on how to speed up the computer but since clearly neither of us know how to do that, this is a something I need to start doing to utilize my time better.
