Maddie Spohr, the tiny toddler that took over twitter, has raised $51,933 and counting for the March of Dimes!
And today is Marching Day!
Purple will line streets all over the country as people walk to support the March of Dimes’ efforts to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
It is incredible how people have connected through Twitter and the blogosphere to raise so much money in honor of Maddie Spohr. But, I am not surprised.
Maddie was a sparkling gift of joy.
How could we not fall in love with her when she flashed that Maddie smile with her blue eyes dancing? All Maddie had to do was shrug her tiny shoulders and giggle and we were putty in her hands.
How could we not be compelled to do something to honor her and to help heal other sick babies?
She taught us to treasure our children. She taught us to treasure our lives. And she taught us to make a difference.
But as grateful as we are for everything Maddie has inspired us to do, today what all of us really wish is that Maddie were walking too.

Inspirational indeed, and thoroughly irresistible.

I have a picture I uploaded to the Flickr pool of myself & my 2 month old wearing purple for Maddie. After the picture was taken, I burst into tears and just started kissing her, feeling so grateful to have her in my life but so incredibly sad for the Spohrs.
