Sleep Well with Essentia Organic Pillows

by Guest Contributor

If your Thanksgiving holiday was anything like mine, you might be feeling pretty exhausted right now. Between visits from various out-of-town family members, working on house projects, cooking Thanksgiving dinner,  and setting up our Christmas tree, I am beat. Reviewing the Classic organic pillow from Essentia could not have come at a better time.  Each night for the past week as I collapsed into my bed, I was so thankful for this pillow! And my neck and shoulders were thankful too!

essentia, petroleum free memory foam, natural memory foam, essentia giveaway, andrea updyke

If you are a fan of memory foam but worry about all of the synthetic materials in traditional memory foam, Essentia is an excellent natural alternative. I was a little bit skeptical as I am also the owner of a famous brand memory foam pillow, but my pillow from Essentia was extremely comfortable and supportive! I am very impressed with the quality of the pillow. Not only that, but the organic zippered case is both stylish and comfortable.

Essentia states that their memory foam is

Designed to be the healthy alternative to conventional memory foams, ourpetroleum-free foam was developed in-house and is the only natural memory foam in the world. Made from rubber tree sap, our natural memory foam is given its unique feel with organic essential oils, plant extracts and water.

Pillows and mattresses are not typically what I think about when I try to shop organic, but the more I learn about all of the chemicals in the very fabric we sleep on, I have to pause and consider what I can do to make my home safer.

Win a Pillow from Essentia!

Essentia is giving one lucky winner a 2 pillow set. To enter this contest, leave a comment telling us why this pillow would make your night’s sleep a little bit better! Giveaway will end on December 10th, 2011 at midnight.

Disclosure: I received the above product to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

I have a contoured pillow that was great at one time, but just isn’t comfortable anymore, so I’d LOVE a new pillow! Thank you for the chance to win.

I have an awful secret: I haven’t replaced my pilow in years. Dear spirits of the random giveaway, please honor me with the above awesome looking organic pillow. Mine is old and lumpy.

Follow-up question: Egad! I never thought about mattress chemicals either. Do we know of someone who makes a full-on organic mattress?

Thanks for posting, guys!

I would love a new pillow, especially an organic one! I have a 5 year old that finds her way onto my side of the bed every night and even makes me share my pillow with her. haha. Sleep is precious!

I have tried the brand name ones and I have tried other ones and we are back to headaches! This looks like it may have the support along WITH the comfort needed to avoid those morning headaches for me and my husband!

I feel like I’ve been on an endless, lifelong search for the perfect pillow! I’m a tough nut to crack in that department, as I sleep back-side-stomach-side-back-side…. all night long!

Love to try this. Thanks!

I’m in the same boat as Damon — our pillows are old & grody. Washing them doesn’t work very well. :( My son sleeps with me, and it would be wonderful to not have to worry about him & chemicals.

This pillow would make my nighttime sleep a WHOLE lot better!

I have pretty severe allergies to everything from feathers to chemicals to other non-natural additives found in sleeping accessories. I also tend to get a sore neck/back upon waking in the morning and my osteopath thinks a lot of that has to do with a bad mattress and pillow. Memory foam has always been the only thing to alleviate my soreness, but it aggravates my allergies!

I have been reading about Essentia and I really want to try/buy their pillows and even a new mattress when my finances accommodate. To have these pillows would solve both of my major sleeping issues (allergies and posture). I would love, love, love to win them!! Thanks!

I have an essentia ergonomic pillow. i love the materials, but i have pretty bad scoliosis and my neck most often hurts, so the contoured shape actually isn’t much of a help for me. i have been dreaming of the classic, as i know it would be perfect! i just can’t afford it. a giveaway would be the perfect solution! :)

I haven’t invested in a new pillow in years, and the comfiest one I had was claimed by my 7 year old! A new pillow would definitely help me sleep better!

We’ve had our memory foam pillows for about ten years, now, and they’re really not what they used to be, in site of guarantees. I’d love to see my poor husband fall asleep faster, too.

Thanks for the opportunity! :)

My boyfriend is always stealing my pillow. If we both had great pillows, this wouldn’t be a problem! So I want these for the two of us.

My pillows are at least 10 years old. They’re lumpy, and if I were being perfectly candid, they don’t smell all that great. :-/ New pillows would rock!

Pillows seem to be something that I buy too often. I get one and hate it, it wears out too quick, or if I do like it, my fiance or my son steals it. Maybe these pillows would work and I would only have to worry about one pillow thief until I bought a third. Lol.

Although we have a Tempurpedic mattress, the pillows are quite expensive. I have one, but it’s too large and I wake up with a sore neck every morning. It would be nice to have these pillows, so my neck won’t wake up tired anymore!

I would love these pillows because we lost the pillows that we LOVED when our home was destroyed by a freak storm 3 years ago. We have, of course, bought new pillows since (I believe 3 different sets) and have yet to find ones we like as well.

There is no sleep when our pillow isn’t comfy. Body aches, headaches, tossing, turning are all sympotmatic of a bad night’s sleep. I recently had sinus/tonsil surgery and have craved a good night’s sleep for about two months now!

Winning this pillow will help me sleep better because my husband will sleep better. He is currently tossing during the night trying to keep the two pillows he has together and typically wakes me up. If he had one good quality pillow he won’t have to move so much to keep them together!

My husband and I always talk about how we need new pillows, but we’re too lasy to go shopping for them. I love that these are petroleum free! I can’t believe the amount of products that are out there that we buy every day and don’t think about whether they are environmentally friendly or not. I am trying to be more conscientious of the products I purchase, it’s hard, but I’m trying!
