Wordless Wednesday – Trying to get a shot of all of us…

by Janice

There is a reason we don’t have more shots of Susan and me with all four of our kids.

Now, I have so much more empathy for my parents when they were trying to get family photos of us growing up. There were four of us kids in our family and we all dreaded the annual family photo. (The outtakes are hilarious to look at now though!)

Thanks to Uisce for creating Wordless Wednesday.

3 Elaine August 20, 2008 at 12:44 am

Oh yeah, this is a great shot! I love Olivia’s face (she’s the one on the far right, right?) Too fun – y’all look great! : )

4 Doll Clothes Gal August 20, 2008 at 12:45 am

Looks like a typical shot with kids – you can never get them all straight!

5 Shannon August 20, 2008 at 12:47 am

That photo is priceless!

6 Beth August 20, 2008 at 12:48 am

Oh, but these types of portraits are just so much more fun to look at! :-) You should frame it.

7 Christine - From Dates to Diapers August 20, 2008 at 12:49 am

I love this picture… So very typical of kids to goof off in front of the camera!

8 Deb - Mom of 3 Girls August 20, 2008 at 12:50 am

Oh but it’s so fun to see the attempts! I love this photo! :)

9 Kimberly/Mom in the City August 20, 2008 at 12:51 am

The boy in your picture reminds me of my son – clowning around in pix.

This week my Wordless Wednesday is Four Views of Le Carrousel in Bryant Park (I went there with my son yesterday.)

10 Michelle Potter August 20, 2008 at 12:51 am

15 Lisa August 20, 2008 at 1:34 am

That’s cute of all of you! Sometimes the photos are better when they show real life!

16 napaboaniya August 20, 2008 at 1:49 am

It takes some effort in getting kids for a group photo for sure :P

17 DOMESTIC DIVA August 20, 2008 at 1:52 am

Mine is up, actually early this time. Come check it out. This photo showcases my son’s favorite accessory….

BTW, love all of the different faces in this photo…priceless!

18 mom2my9 August 20, 2008 at 1:54 am

LOVE the picture! You girls are gorgeous! You look identical. Are you? I have twins who are 6 months old and I have been asked that question about a million times, so I guess you’ve probably been asked about 20 million. Anyway, great photo! Thanks for all you do!

19 Missy August 20, 2008 at 3:29 am

I LOVE that photo. It’s so much more you guys than a “proper” posed one would be.

20 Busymama Kellie August 20, 2008 at 4:20 am

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. My kids think it’s hilarious to make faces. Or close their eyes. Or look at the floor…

21 Tracy August 20, 2008 at 4:56 am

Great photo! I know what you mean about getting lots of kids to smile…at the same time with OPEN eyes~ we have 5 kids and family photos are hilarious!!!!!!

22 Gattina August 20, 2008 at 5:39 am

Oh, that’s a very cute family picture ! so natural !

23 Robin ~ PENSIEVE August 20, 2008 at 6:37 am

There are three times we attempt family photos: Christmas, Easter and at the beach in the summer. These are the only times I’m concerned my children might need therapy ’cause I’m so manic about it (which doesn’t help a bit).

This shot of y’all? STINKIN’ ADORABLE! It’s just “life” bein’ lived, ya know?

So wish Susan was making a stop in Chattanooga on her way to Atlanta; OR that I was still living in Atlanta…I’d show her the town and I’m pretty sure we’d never stop talking blawg stuff!

Susan if you check in, you’ve gotta eat at The Varsity downtown….it’s an institution!

24 Andrea August 20, 2008 at 7:03 am

That is too funny! Not one of the kids is looking directly at the camera with both eyes!! How cute!

25 MommyWizdom August 20, 2008 at 7:25 am

Those shots are not easy – you did pretty well. At least you can see everyone’s head! Nice job – they’re adorable!!

Come check out my new meme, Pet Peeve Tuesday!

26 TheAngelForever August 20, 2008 at 7:28 am

We have had the same trouble with capturing photos of our two sons and my niece. Still those funny shots are priceless like the one above :)

27 Maggie August 20, 2008 at 7:38 am

That is a great shot — such perfect expressions on all the kiddos!

28 corrine August 20, 2008 at 7:43 am

29 Jeanne August 20, 2008 at 7:48 am

Fabulous pic!

30 My Inside World August 20, 2008 at 7:59 am

Nice shot but yep it sure it hard to everyone to look at the camera at the same time lol.

31 AmyG August 20, 2008 at 8:14 am

It’s a fun picture! Love the look on the baby’s face. To cute!

32 Debbie August 20, 2008 at 8:16 am

yes, taking family photos with children really can take a group effort….love that pic !!

33 Jean at Penny Lane August 20, 2008 at 8:16 am

At least you can look back and have a laugh remembering how you always tried to get it together. Maybe when they are older, it might get better? Maybe?

34 Danielle August 20, 2008 at 8:23 am

haha! so cute. A for effort.

35 Heartofamommy August 20, 2008 at 8:24 am

Too funny! LOL! :D

The Baby looks like she is acting just as goofy as the older boy.

These kind of pictures make the best memories though. ;-)

36 Smellyann August 20, 2008 at 8:28 am

I can definitely relate to the struggles of a family portrait with multiple children. It’s still adorable, though!!

37 Sara-My Sippy Cup Runneth Over August 20, 2008 at 8:34 am

38 Mama Duck August 20, 2008 at 9:05 am

42 Jenny August 20, 2008 at 9:15 am

Ah, that’s a great shot!! I love photos like that.

43 DJ August 20, 2008 at 9:17 am

What a fun portrait of all of you!

44 killlashandra August 20, 2008 at 9:21 am

Yep, I know about those attempts at a family picture. Sometimes I think it might be easier to just photoshop one together out of many different pictures. :)

45 Kari August 20, 2008 at 9:22 am

HILARIOUS!!!!! :D Glad my family is not the only family that takes pictures like that….but hey at least they are REAL, right??!! :) Have a great day y’all!

46 Jodilightful! August 20, 2008 at 10:11 am

Group photos (especially with kids) are rough, aren’t they? I like them with a bit of personality, though :)

47 Cindi August 20, 2008 at 10:38 am

Special moments & photo ~ it’ll be so nice to look back upon some day!

48 jessica August 20, 2008 at 10:44 am

You all are so cute! What nice families you have!

49 Aloha Monkey August 20, 2008 at 10:44 am

That’s a great shot. I love outtakes and candid shots too. The subjects look less fake.

50 SarahHub August 20, 2008 at 10:55 am

Looks just like our family shots. In the last one, my niece is leaning back, and it looks like she doesn’t have a head. Oh, well. Someone has to sacrifice, right?

51 Mrsbear August 20, 2008 at 11:03 am

What a great family shot, squirming notwithstanding. ;-)

52 Lisa August 20, 2008 at 11:06 am

You guys are so cute!

53 Beau August 20, 2008 at 11:11 am

Very cute photo! Kids are so funny! My boys are the same way!

Hilarious! I’m sure you’ll look back on this with fond memories.

55 Steph August 20, 2008 at 11:45 am

Adorable!! It’s nice to have a perfectly posed shot of everyone, but these outtakes are wonderful for the personality shining through!

56 casual friday everyday August 20, 2008 at 11:46 am

57 Becki August 20, 2008 at 12:36 pm

59 crunchy domestic goddess August 20, 2008 at 1:00 pm

60 Half Pint Pixie August 20, 2008 at 1:05 pm

61 rachelle August 20, 2008 at 1:29 pm

fun! this is my first week! that pic- the story of our life, no?

62 MaryBeth August 20, 2008 at 1:38 pm

Ummmm, now you know what it’s like for me to get all my kiddos together for a photo!! Four girls age 3 and under…. just like herding cats, I like to think.

63 Sherry August 20, 2008 at 2:57 pm

Definitely hard to get a pic of so many, but what fun it is! :D

64 Ambajam August 20, 2008 at 3:14 pm

Wow- what a great photo. You all look so happy. :) Happy WW!

65 BecauseImTheMommy August 20, 2008 at 3:16 pm

I have SO many of these pictures. I thought it was bad with just 2, but adding a third is utter mayhem. I find it interesting that it’s our middle one who absolutely HATES it when the camera comes out.

66 Naomi August 20, 2008 at 3:55 pm

love that pic!

67 Tamy ~ 3 Sides of Crazy August 20, 2008 at 4:13 pm

Too cute – good luck!

68 Carolyn August 20, 2008 at 4:46 pm

LOL – that just shows us a bit of what you go through :o)

69 Petula August 20, 2008 at 4:50 pm

That’s a great shot. So real! LOL. It takes me a lot of time to get a shot of myself and my four too. When taking pics of the kids a sense of humor is always necessary.

70 Carolyn August 20, 2008 at 5:20 pm

My little lady went swimming for the first time on Sunday, so cute!

71 heather u August 20, 2008 at 5:46 pm

That’s a great shot! Love it!

72 katelin August 20, 2008 at 6:33 pm

what a fun family pic! your kids are all so adorable! :)

73 MomSoapbox August 20, 2008 at 7:48 pm

Looks like a fun picture – kids seem to be doing their own thing but that’s what makes it look more fun!

74 Amy August 20, 2008 at 8:13 pm

It looks like the photographer captured each personality just right. :) Happy W.W.

75 Susan M. Heim August 21, 2008 at 1:03 pm

We go through the same ordeal every Christmas with our four boys. But that’s okay…they’re not perfect in real life, so why should they be perfect in their pictures? The silly ones are always good for a laugh.
