A few notes into the song and I remember.
I remember the way it felt to be young and passionate, when it seemed like only music could speak to me and tell me I wasn’t alone, when somehow listening to someone else’s heart healed mine.
I am a mom now and I don’t close myself up in my room to listen to music anymore. The local Christian radio station now accompanies me most days when I shuttle my son around town. But after slipping this CD in, I remember that mainstream music can still inspire me and make me smile. Oh – and my son loves it too!
Have you heard of The Fray?

Yes ~ that is exactly how I felt when I hear this particular song – The Fray on VH1 took me immediately back to the 70’s when I would sit in my room and feel like I was being let in someplace no one else had been. Snow Patrol has also brought this to me so I feel that young kid thing again as I dance around the house trying not to trip over the kids.

Being a Grey’s Anatomy fan, I love this song! I entered!

For me it was the Air Supply break up album. “Here I am playing with those memories again, just when I thought time had set me free…” These days, I’m listening to “I can only imagine…” and that takes me away to a whole other place. I’ll check out The Fray.

The Fray are really good. 🙂 For me, it’s most often mainstream music that inspires me and uplifts me. Granted I’m into some music that isn’t usually on the radio (swing, world, and funny stuff like Weird Al)… but there are a lot of really good songs out there in the “alternative” genre (the Fray is a perfect example). It’s a bit harder to find good stuff in the mainstream Top 40 where rap and hip hop rule (though the music is fun, the words are not)!

I saw a glimpse of them on tv but didn’t watch. I watched this time. Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE this CD. And so does my boys. My oldest asked for an MP3 player for Christmas and asked if we could put the Fray on it!!!

They’re new to me, but then I fall in the generation of ancient persons who haven’t bought a CD for nearly a decade – I decided to skip a generation and go straight for th ipod – perhaps there’s hope for crumbly mums afterall. Cheers and thanks for the tip

I love the song! I don’t lock myself in my room to get lost in music anymore either, but sometimes a single song can take me back to that feeling. This is one of them.

That is SO COOL! I’m adding them to my regular listening list now. 😉
Thank you SO MUCH for your comments regarding my son. I may not be the most religious person in the world, but I’m a true believer when I say that prayer is really healing and strengthening hearts in our house. Prayer asking God to help, anyway.
Thank you for your always uplifting site, too. 😉
