I have been back from our family vacation for over 24 hours, but I have barely unpacked a bag, nor done a load of laundry, nor tended to my back log of emails, and yet for some crazy reason I have spent the last hour looking for a missing skate guard. Yes – I have officially lost my mind!
(But you know how frustrating it can be when you go to get something that you were sure you knew where it was and it isn’t there? And then, the more you look, the more you refuse to give up because “it has to be here somewhere!” So, in that unstable frame of mind, I have ignored my exhaustion and the piles of work to be done, and fruitlessly scoured the house for a skate guard – which for the record – I still have not found, even though I know it is in this house somewhere!)
So what have I been doing since I got back? Well, I would love to report that I have used my time efficiently, answering at least a hundred emails and writing several posts. But – sigh – instead, after a couple of hours answering emails and putting up one post this morning, I spent the rest of the day shopping. (Oh – don’t get excited for me – I wasn’t shopping for me. Jackson and I were out getting him new hockey skates and a new hockey helmet.)
But somehow, what was to be a short trip, turned into a marathon and we didn’t get home until after 10pm! Not very impressive parenting having my five year old son out till that hour, I know! And it gets even better – we were so busy dashing from one store to the next that we missed dinner and I fed him a McDonald’s chicken burger at 9:30pm! But I didn’t let him play at the playplace. I mean – that would have been ridiculous, right? LOL
So I am hoping tomorrow I will get a bit more accomplished. And to make sure it starts out better, I will get my husband to go to the store in the morning and buy a new set of skate guards.

I had the most amazing experience on returning from vacation. The house had been cleaned & there was baking! I think someone could start a business…
I wrote about it on Aug 2

I don’t think anyone is very productive when they first get back from vacation. Sounds like you took care of what was most important anyway. Glad you’re back!
