[...] 5 Minutes for Mom is giving away an Oreck XL Ultra!! This is definitely something that I can get excited about because my family runs through vacuum cleaners like they are going out of style. The vacuums that we’ve kept the longest were the Phantom Fury (of which I can’t seem to find a picture of online!) and the first vacuum cleaner that was given to us when I first got married.  Other than that vacuum cleaners seem to only last about a year around this house. Last year I even had a Kirby salesman come to the door, and let me tell you!!! If I had the money to buy a Kirby I would.  I know that if I bought one of those I’d never have to buy another vacuum cleaner for the rest of my natural born days! At the moment we do not have a vacuum cleaner (and haven’t had one for 2 months) and because of many, many, many financial other financial obligations we probably won’t be able to get one for 2 or 3 more months The Oreck, though, makes me wonder if Kirby has found it’s match. Hmmmm . . . we could all use a vacuum, I guess My husband would probably laugh at my excitement over this contest, but he would also understand our need for a vacuum. Financially we won’t be able to afford one for a while, and we’ve never owned anything as nice as an Oreck.

What a wonderful giveaway. I really want to win this. I too hurt my back. For the past number of years my back tends to ‘go out’ on occasion, but last summer, during our family vacation was the worse. I guess with packing for the family, I over did it and sure enough my back went out. It was so bad, that while on vacation, my husband had to bring me to the er to get shots and medicine. After that trip, I was knocked out the whole week. With 2 young children….this was not the ideal vacation.

I understand the back deal. I have a 2 herniated discs in my back so vacuuming is always a chore I really dispise especially with my vacuum which was built in 1974 (5 years before I was even born)… not only do I get a nice work out lugging it up & down the stairs, but I have learned to be a vacuum repair person, because I have to fix it every time I use it. Oh and I have to vacuum every room twice because of the lack of suction.
Winning an Orek would be a dream come true.

I SO want to win this! My husband actually does the vacuuming because I had hurt my back a while ago. My back is fine, but I do not want to reinjure it by lugging around the vacuum – so, he still vacuums, which is a great thing…however, once in a while, I would like to do it while he is at work. We moved into this house just over a year ago, and the previous owners had left a small Oreck. I used it for about a month and loved it! However, they eventually called looking for it, and I sadly returned it to them. I would love to have one, the small one was incredible.

Vacuuming is one of the worst things that can hurt anyone’s lower back (many people have osteoarthritis in their lower backs as early as as age 30 and do not know it. Having a light weight and powerful vacuum like the Oreck XL Ultra, especially if you have children and/or pets, as I do, is imperative! Suffering from bulging disks in your lower back from vacuuming can seriously harm your back, your career and quality time with your family. It takes a long time to recover from herniated disks. Don’t risk it!

Oh my gosh, SIGN ME UP!

My mother-in-law came to visit for three HOURS today, passing through my State while on a trip. For the past three DAYS, I have been on my hands and knees picking up little bits and crumbs from the carpet and around the furniture legs. No vacuum = lots of pain.
