I have a clever new gadget that I haven’t told Janice about. I’ve been keeping it from her because I KNOW she will steal it from me.
And I can’t blame her.
She has a hockey playing teenage son.
Have you ever smelled a guy’s hockey gear? It is BRUTAL. In fact, one of the reasons I’m so happy I have girly-girl girls is that they don’t play hockey. Because hockey bags full of sweaty gear STINK.
And Janice is going to freak out when she finds out I have the solution. Yes, she’ll be thrilled to finally have a way to cope with the stench… but she’ll also be mad that I didn’t fess up and share my new gadget sooner.

What is a POG you ask?
It’s a Portable Ozone Generator.
Still confused? I was too.

Just as Carrie pointed out in the comments, ozone causes harm to the respiratory system. You know about the oxidising power of dioxygen ? (20% of air, what makes iron rust) well ozone is an even stronger oxidiser which can impair lungs and even at lower concentration it can be like living in the smoke of a cigarette, your skin will have to fight a strong oxidising stress. It acts like chlorine gas (Cl2). Be very careful /never/ to make it work in the very same room as any living form you would care about — baby, cat, dog, stepmother, yourself, the neighbour’s always-barking dog, … —
Let alone making it work while you sleep as an air freshener. There is a reason why it kills bacteria’s and disrupt foul smell molecules, it is because it is highly reactive in a destructive way.
It can also attack paint or rubber/latex/… (see Wikipedia’s page on ozonolysis of elastomers)
Fortunately as it reacts very quickly with almost anything that can be oxidised, it disrupts quite quickly. Just be sure that no one is around when it works and for a while after (I would advise at least for as long as the machine has been working but this is totally rule of thumb). For example staying away for 2hrs when you triggered the 1hr cycle.

PPB means particles per billion
10 ppb for example would mean that among 1’000’000’000 molecules in the air, 10 of them would be ozone.
The PPB in your room would depend on the volume of your room and the lapse during which the POG worked.

I would carry it with me everywhere as I have allergies to nearly everything, including chemical air fresheners. Would love to have it with me at my desk at work and next to me at home & while sleeping. This could be a game changer for my health & life. I nearly die from other’s public overuse of perfume.
