I have been traveling and hanging out with cool people all summer.
But now I’m home. And I feel like I’m 16 again and I’ve just come home from summer camp and I desperately miss all my new friends.
When Janice and I were teenagers, our favorite place in the world was a small Island in Howe Sound, BC, Canada called Anvil Island. It was beautiful and peaceful but the main reason we loved it was the people. We LOVE meeting new friends and having time to get into deep conversations.
And this summer I have met so many awesome new friends and connected in person with countless long-time blogging friends. I have had SO. MUCH. FUN.
I partied with my peeps at BlogHer 09 in Chicago, went shopping with the girls in Boston at the TJ Maxx event and then hung out with some brilliant folks at Stompernet Live 8.
Here’s a snapshot of a few of us having dinner in Boston at the TJ Maxx event. My new BFF Christine Koh took the photo.
In this photo, from left to right: Lori (A Cowboy’s Wife), Jo-Lynne (Musings of a Housewife), me–Susan (5 Minutes for Mom), Louise (Mom Start), Heather (one of our PR hostesses), Allison (Petit Elefant), Allison Worthington (Mrs FussyPants), and Audrey (Mom Generations).
But it’s back to reality for me now. I’m a little jealous of Janice because she has a few more fun blogging trips lined up for the next several weeks. (I know, I know… I am going to Italy in September to visit family, so I can’t really complain. LOL.)
I think my next big blogging event will be BlogWorld in October. (And after that will be Mom 2.0 Summit 2010 in Houston and BlogHer 2010 in New York… but those are so far away. Hopefully I can sneak in a bunch of other Blogger Meetup events in the meantime.)
Thankfully, I’m still having fun connecting face to face with some of my blogging friends with our new weekly snazL parties and on our new site Say It Face to Face.
But of course, nothing beats hanging out in person.

I had a blast!
How much can girls laugh together in one dinner?
So fun!

Oh the fun we had! Can’t wait to hang again. I’ll get you some photos of those adorable Irish boys too!

I love the picture. You are all so beautiful – and you look so relaxed too. What a fun trip it must have been.

It was so great to hang out with you Susan! I had so much and the evening talk with you & the other ladies was one of my faves;)
Susan says
Hey Kristin,
I know what you mean about recording responses on your video camera and not actually uploading them right away. I’m guilty too!
Susan says
Great question Jendi!
Conferences and related travel expenses are a huge issue. For most conferences we attend we have sponsors. (But not Stompernet.)
Then Mom Blogger Events such as the TJ Maxx event generally have all expenses included.

I’ve been working but not uploading on conversations. I keep replying to myself here all alone..yeah need to get these uploaded!!!
Loving the new site!
Jendi says
Question – how do you afford all the conferences and travel expenses?
Are most of them sponsored?

I’ve got to dig out my web-cam and get it plugged up when I get home from vacation so that I can get back on Say it Face to Face!!
