It was the ultimate in quality girl-time.
Picture it… hanging out and meeting new blogging friends while you oooh-and-aaah over fabulous shoes and handbags.
Yes, the TJ Maxx/Marshalls Mom Blogger Event was a treat!
Many of us arrived exhausted after the whirlwind of BlogHer, but we quickly forgot our fatigue and bonded over dinner at the Cottonwood Café. A few of us then strolled around Boston with Jodi as our tour guide.
The next day we went to the TJ Maxx/Marshalls headquarters and learned all about what off-price shopping is and is not. (Hint… click over to A Mom in Red High Heels for a great summary of what we learned.)
I learned a ton about how off-price retailing works and I was sincerely impressed by the company’s President, Michael MacMillan, and the business model behind TJ Maxx/Marshalls that creates an honest “Win” for shoppers.
My Most Important Take-Away Lesson
But another thing I also realized during the event was how important it is to get together with our girlfriends and do girl-stuff… like go shopping.
It really is therapeutic to drool over beautiful handbags and admire shoes. And when you can even afford to purchase those stylish must-haves (thanks to TJ Maxx and Marshalls)… well, that is time (and money) well spent.
So while we may not always be flown off to blogger shopping events, we can each create our own blogger shopping events whenever we want.
Pull together some twitter peeps who live in your area, meet for lunch and go shopping together at TJ Maxx and/or Marshalls. Trust me. You’ll have a blast!
Here’s a couple little videos to give you a taste of the fun we had thanks to TJ Maxx and Marshalls.
This first video shows us checking out a sampling of the children’s clothes offered at TJ Maxx and Marshalls.
In this next video, we have just finished our shopping spree and we’re back on the bus gushing like school-girls over our purchases. (We were each given $100 gift certificate to TJ Maxx and a $100 gift certificate to Marshalls.)
I was honored to have been invited along with such a fantastic group of fashion, frugal and mom bloggers. The group was wonderfully diverse and I loved that I met several bloggers who I hadn’t previously discovered.
You’ll definitely want to follow these ladies on twitter and add their blogs to your reader.
Thanks to Felicia (aka @gograhamgo) for sending out #FollowFriday links for the ladies on the trip. (If I’ve missed anyone, please let me know.)
@gograhamgo, @fashionablegal, @acowboyswife, @petit_elefant, @onechicmama, @alliworthington, @ADramaticMommy,@audreymcclellan, @bostonmamas, @5minutesformom, @susancarraretto, @mommieswithcent, @stacieinatlanta, @akblessings, @jentifa, @3PsinaPod, @mommygoggles, @busymomblog, @jodigrundig, @mindicherry, @dcrmom

I definitely grew up shopping at TJMaxx. My mother and I would go to the mall and I would really, really want a certain shirt. She would say, okay. you can have it or you can have two at TJMaxx. Worked every time 🙂
