Wordless Wednesday — Tween Angst

This year’s Ultimate Blog Party is brought to you by:

wordless wednesday - Jackson Tween Angst

My Preteen. Do you have some tweens in your house?
Yesterday, I was shooting Susan and my kids for our upcoming Ultimate Blog Party 2012 (the #UBP12 is April 13 – April 20th!) And while Jackson insisted on new clothes AND a tie for the shoot, when it came to actually having me take his photo — well, I got preteen angst instead of smiles. I have to say though, I kinda love this shot.

Mom Bloggers (and Dad Bloggers too!) post a photo on your site, link up and find others… Wordless Wednesday is tons of fun. (And I know it says “wordless” but I just can’t bear to not write anything! If I had created it, I probably would have named it something different! LOL So feel to link up your word-full or word-less Wednesday photos!)

Leave the URL to your photo (clearly mine are never truly “wordless”) and then visit others!

Did you know that the beautiful new Cottonelle roll covers by Jonathan Adler can be used for more than just a toilet paper roll cover? The fashion consultant, Vivian St. Claire says “First and foremost, of course, they should be used to respect the care-worthy rolls of Cottonelle Clean Care Toilet Paper,”. But if you have multiples of a design, there are a few ways to use them to spruce up other areas of your home.

Here is a fun thumbnail linky:

And here is a basic linky if you prefer your linkies the good old fashioned way!

Thanks to Uisce for creating Wordless Wednesday.

Did you know that Susan and I have two online stores that offer kids furniture and educational toys? A unique idea for a child’s birthday gift is a wooden rocking chair. It will surely become a treasured family heirloom.

If you like this post, we would love it if you gave it a Stumble, Tweet, Pin, or Facebook Like. Thanks so much! We really appreciate your support of 5 Minutes for Mom.

  1. I don’t have a preteen in my house, but I teach 40 of them! They are soooo fun!

  2. I do not look forward to those days xD But I’ll have but only one thing to say to my son what it does happen…

    “get over it!”

Your tween is growing and he is cute. We can’t stop them to grow and soon they will go away from us. By the way, your son is handsome. Love it.

  4. Hello I am a college working on a team project and need input from parents through a survey we are conducting. We are creating a new product and we are targeting parents as primary customers. If you could fill out our survey it would be extremely helpful.

  5. Oh my gosh, Janice! He looks so grown up there! That really is a great shot. I have one JUST like it with my oldest daughter. She was being SO difficult several years ago, and then she glared at me and I caught the best picture ever. It looks like she’s trying to be sexy, but she’s really just thinking, “Hey, Mom, will you lay off!!” lol

Here’s my pic of a moody tween (circa 2008): http://betterinbulk.net/2008/05/in-case-you-havent-heard-already.html (who is now a moody TEEN!)

  6. Diana - Teacher Mom says:

Oh, my! He is so handsome! Nope, no pre-teens in our home yet. A preschooler and a 6yo.

  7. I love that he wanted a tie. That plus the angst, make it perfect.

  8. No preteens over in my home – yet. And I’m sooo grateful for it! 😉

  9. Honey Mommy says:

No tweens here! My oldest is 6 and I am SO not ready for that yet…. although I don’t know if I ever will be!

  10. Julie {Angry Julie Monday} says:

Well of course, he has angst….he is your kid, Janice…:)

  11. I don’t have a tween yet but my boys know how to pick the best moments to have the worst attitudes. 🙂

I really like the picture of Jackson. Sometimes pictures are much better without a smile.

  12. Dagmar ~ Dagmar's momsense says:

No tween yet, god help me 🙂

  13. Paula Schuck says:

Ah tween angst. He looks gorgeous anyways and will be a heartbreaker. I live your picture. My dd 10 has been a three headed monster for about four months now. I wrote about it a lot this week.

  18. another jennifer says:

Great shot! Even if he isn’t overly happy. 🙂

  19. Serendipity is Sweet says:

I think that’s a great shot! My oldest will be 10 in 10 days. He’s already exhibiting the same behavior. So cool to watch the grow up, but so bittersweet.

  20. Helen Spencer says:

Do I ever! My eldest is 12. He turns on a dime from the Loveliest Boy in The World, full of “I love you Mom”s to vile, deranged and impossible.
Help us through this phase, please!

  21. Susie's Homemade says:

As a mom of a 21-year-old, I got news for you…you got at least a decade of that ahead of you:-(

  22. I do believe that my oldest is starting to feel this way. He does not want to get in photos as much and definitely shows his thoughts.

  23. This is a really nice shot, I agree, and at least his new clothes look great!

  24. Awwww….bless. My 10 yo is already acting like that. So NOT looking forward to that age. lol

  25. Smellyann says:

Yes, I can TOTALLY relate with my 10yo dd!!

  26. That is an EXCELLENT shot. I love it when you can capture exactly who they are at the age they are. Much better than a smiling posed picture for sure!!

  27. Phoenix The Blogging Mama says:

What a gorgeous photo of your son! I have 14yr old and an 11yr old so I understand your plight!

  28. Jacqueline says:

It all starts entirely too early! *sigh* He still looks pretty spiffy dressed up though. 🙂

  29. What a great photo of him! He looks very trendy in his tie!!!

  30. I see your tween and raise you any of my three teenagers (Boy, 17; Girl, 15; Boy, 13).

Yes, three teenagers in the house. It’s such a blessing!

What? Me, crying? Oh, no, it must be an eyelash in my eye… 🙂

  31. I think that is a great picture. I know tween boys hate to smile, but that is a classic picture and he looks so handsome!!

  32. Great photo! The girls will be after him in a couple of years! 🙂

  33. Tarasview says:

oh poor Jackson!! lol gotta love the pre-teen angst 🙂 He does look handsome in his shirt & tie though 😉
