Wordless Wednesday — First Skate

Olivia -- First Skate

She stands, she skates…

Well — not exactly.

During the holidays, Olivia borrowed a pair of skates from our friends and we went skating. This picture however, is not at the ice rink. It is on the driveway! (Which really was a snow covered sheet of ice!)

Olivia was so impatient to “go figure skating” she just couldn’t wait. So I took her outside to go “skating” on the driveway. She had a fabulous time and I just tried my best to balance her and my camera at the same time.

Mom Bloggers (and Dad Bloggers too!) post a photo on your site, link up and find others… Wordless Wednesday is tons of fun. (And I know it says “wordless” but I just can’t bear to not write anything! If I had created it, I probably would have named it something different! LOL)

Here is a fun thumbnail linky…

But if you prefer the old style, you can use this linky:

Thanks to Uisce for creating Wordless Wednesday.

Did you know that Susan and I own two online toy stores where you can find adorable toys like a pedal car or a cute rocking horse.

Well, the smile on her face shows that she doesn’t care if she’s on her knees or not. She is having a blast no matter what is happening.
    Great job mom!

  6. Such a beautiful picture! What joy to be a child!

  7. Rebekah {honeyandcheese} says:

I’ll bet she had the time of her life! One of my nieces had her 5th birthday party at the skating rink and she loved every minute of it. I got lots of pictures of her shuffling across the ice, clutching the upside-down buckets the rink had handy for little ones. What fun memories!

(I’m hopping to every blog linked up to last year’s Ultimate Blog Party! Have a beautifully blessed day!)

  8. OH she looks like she’s having so much fun! We’re heading skating on Monday for the 1st time with our kids. I’m just hoping I don’t break something! LOL

  25. She's Thrifty says:

Skating is so much fun for the kids (nice way to avoid cabin fever), especially outside.

  31. So sweet, I can’t wait to take my sons skating. It is a top goal of mine this year. You daughter looks like she had a good time!

  32. The dilemma: which is better? Ice skating or Sledding?

  33. Living in the south my girls will most likely not ice skate which is unfortunate because I grew up on them back in WI. That is a great shot of her and I love her fearless spirit!

  34. It looks like she is enjoying herself, even if down on the ice. My son’s school has a skating event this weekend. May be the first time on skates for several of us 🙂

  35. Coffee Break Mama says:

This is so cute – my four year old went ice skating at the rink for the very first time last week and she had a ball. Then we got a big (and rare) southern snow and so now I think she thinks she lives in a winter wonderland!

  36. Susie's Homemade says:

I can’t believe there was enough ice on your driveway to skate on!!

  37. jill conyers says:

    Simply adorable.

  38. It looks like she’s having fun. My daughter is 11 and still hasn’t been ice skating. We just never seem to live in a location where it is possible.

  39. Dominique says:

That’s a lovely picture.. it must have been fun for her skating on the driveway. .. it never snows where we are ..so we can only go rollerblading.

I bet she had a lot of fun through the trial and error of learning! 🙂

  43. Whoops! I linked up twice, so sorry about that! (I can’t see how to remove the second link, maybe it will let you?)

Olivia is such a cutie! I think I spent more time down on the ice than up & skating during my few attempts at it. Good for her for her enthusiasm and for you for just making it work! :> Looking forward to hopping to some other WW posts & seeing what else is going on in the mamas’ worlds! :>

  44. Looks like lots of fun! 😀

Cute! I haven’t skated in years… I think she was doing better than I would!

  55. How fun. My son just started asking about skating after I’ve asked for 3 years. I;m from Michigan and that;s how we spent our Friday nights. Ice skating. We’ve tried roller skating and that was a bust but I’m ready for the ice…the REAL stuff.

  56. That hat is adorable! The colors of her outfit really pop against the white. All that snow almost makes me want to be living in it again. Growing up in So Cal my kids are such winter wimps!

  57. MamaWhimsy says:

What a great picture! I love that she’s still smiling even while down.

  58. That is just adorable! My daughter has been on skates once this year. What can I say, I’m not a ‘winter’ person…Brrrr….
