Tackle It Tuesday – The Most Important Tackle of the Year!

Jackson’s 5th Birthday Party

My house is still a mess. My laundry is folded, but still waits in the hall, piled three towers high in baskets. My tree is still standing, unlit and lonely.

My bloglines are bursting, I missed all my Wordless Wednesday friends, and I have barely posted since Friday.

But this weekend I celebrated my baby becoming a boy. We threw a party – we gorged – we spoiled him – we loved every second!

So my fellow tacklers, this is the only tackle I have to show you – but really does it get much better than this?

So what did we do? We had a Star Wars Skating Party – how cool is that! With a rink to ourselves and a dressing room pizza party – we had a blast! Here are some highlights:

I bought them for her the night before the party and she was so thrilled it was one of the highlights of my entire life. She loved skating and cried when we had to come off for pizza. I took her skating again today after Jackson’s lesson. She stood all by herself – pretty impressive for twenty months old!

  5. I didn’t tackle anything other than getting my hubby home from the hospital while my 18 month old grandson was here but I couldn’t read this without leaving a comment. What a fantastic party! All the pictures show how much fun everyone had. This really is one of the coolest bd parties I’ve ever heard of. You can bet I’m telling my daughter (a hockey fanatic – go Colorado Avalanche!) about this so she can blatantly copy this idea when Cameron is old enough.

  6. What darking pictures, he looks like he is having so much fun. Your tackle was a lot more successful than mine!

  27. I love the picture of him surrounded by his friends. That smile says it all!

I’m new to Tackle It Tuesday. I hope you don’t mind that I just barged on in.

  28. WOW – what a great party!!! That’s so awesome, good for you AND for him! It looks like everyone had a fun time – we had a skating (roller) when I was a kid, a friend of my dad’s fell and broke her arm, glad your party was not so exciting! 🙂

It’s amazing how fast they grow up isn’t it? And like my mom always says “cleaning and scrubing can wait, for children grow up we have learned to our sorrow, so quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep, I am rocking my baby (or skating with him) and babies don’t keep!!!”

  29. What a great party! Reminds me of growing up in MA where we went ice skating all the time. All the have around here are roller skating rinks.

  30. What a fun time, and a great party idea!!

  31. Noillirac says:

Skating is so much fun! It looks like everyone had a fantastic time.

  32. The happy smiles say it all! What a fun tackle! I have never tried ice skating, but then I am not much or a roller skater so it might be best if I don’t try! The pictures are wonderful, thanks for sharing with us!

  33. It looks like fun times were had by all! I’m so glad Julia enjoyed skating for the first time. It seems like awesome memories were made that will last a lifetime!

  34. ChupieandJsmama says:

Who needs a clean house when you can have a GIANT smile on your sweet little boys face? Oh my goodness! Looks like a wonderful party and that picture of your son above the slideshow is priceless. Blow it up. Get a frame and give it a place of honor. He obviously loved whatever gift was in there. Looks like the party was a big hit. We are in the process of planning a Power Rangers birthday party for my sons 5th birthday in early February. I hope he has as much fun as Jackson appears to have had. Loved the slide show. Have a great week. I’m going to try to Tackle today. I’ve started a few Kitchen cupboards, but may have to hold them off until next week and clean the upstairs bathrooms instead. Someone will be stringing yellow caution tape across the bathroom doors if I don’t clean them soon:)

  35. He looks like he had an awesome time! He’s such a cutie!! 🙂

  36. Janice (5 Minutes for Mom) says:

If you can’t see a play option on the slide show, right click on the screen and then select play. In my browser for some reason the play is not visible, so if this is the case for you, no worries. It works if you right click on it.

Also, last time I posted a slide show someone requested for us to post how we did it. That was a great idea and later this week I will post the instructions.
