This week at Guideposts, I posted about savoring my son’s seven year old silliness. And let me tell you, not many boys are sillier than my Jackson!

That 7-Year-Old Silliness
Sometimes the only thing to do is sit back and enjoy the giggles.
My son, Jackson, loves to laugh. He has been cracking up—and entertaining his audience—since he was an infant.
It is hard not to break into a grin when you watch Jackson laugh. He is completely lost in euphoria, his whole body, his whole being, in fits of howls.
More often than not, the source of his laughter is “silliness.” Something tickles his 7-year-old funny bone, and it takes him over. He is rendered helpless, and despite stern words to “settle down,” Jackson cannot let go of the joke.
After school today, Jackson, still high from the rush of tearing around the playground and laughing with his best buddies, found the fact that he was a sweaty mess absolutely hilarious. As he peeled off his socks in the van while I cranked the air conditioner to fight off the June heat, he was overcome with laughter.
He put his stinky little feet up on my headrest and taunted me: “Mom—come on—smell my feet….” It was hysterical to him. He was a mess of giggles, falling off his seat, begging me to smell his feet.
I suppose I could have been horrified or disgusted. I suppose I could have told him to stop being silly and sit properly…

If you are comfortable with it then so be it. In 5 years it’ll make you laugh thinking of all those laughs you had and are still having from those moments. As our priest used to say “Children are here to give Joy to the parents.”

In 5 years I think that’s where my toddler will be. He loves to laugh and make others around him laugh, and he brings so much joy to the mundane chores of each day!
lots of comedians started that way…wanting to make their moms smile or laugh. i personally like to see little kids laughing…often makes me smile.
