In 2005 Animal Planet introduced America to a different type of reality show called Meerkat Manor. And it’s been a hit ever since. The adorable Whiskers family has made Meerkat Manor one of the fastest growing TV shows on Animal Planet.

Living overseas we have already watched this great show. My husband called it the Soap Opera of Dessert Rats. I think he was just upset that I got so wrapped up in the story. It is just a everyday life in their world but it is narrated in a facinating way. I am sure that all you all -my friends in the States – will love this show as it is just inthralling.

For those lamenting missing meerkat manor because they don’t have cable, they do sell the seasons on DVD.
I’d recommend renting or watching an episode or two at a friends house first to make sure that it’s for you, but if you like it, you can go to the animal planet website and buy the dvd! You also might want to check if blockbuster/netflix carries them.
