My Girl Scout Troop had a meeting this past Saturday and made darling heart-shaped bird feeders to show the birds some love this Valentine’s Day.
It was a fun and easy project that i just HAD to share with all of you.
For this project we used:
- Wooden heart-shaped pieces from Michaels (already hole punched with twine attached)
- Peanut butter
- Trays
- Bird seed
The girls spread peanut butter on one side of the heart, covering it completely, and then dipped it into the tray of bird seed. They then repeated the same steps for the other side of the heart.
The heart feeders were then ready to hang from a tree; a perfect winter treat for the birds.

What a cute idea! My Grandmother would love this idea!
How cute! My girls would love to make this. Did you know that February is National Bird Feeding month? We usually make pine cone bird feeders to honor the observation.
What a GREAT idea!!!

That Valentine is adorable. What a great idea too.
Erica! How cute are these! I am heading out to Michael’s this weekend anyway to pick up supplies for Spring and am now adding these little hearts to my list! Oooo! You could also pick up egg shaped (or round if all else fails) pieces of wood to make eggs with for Easter! Thanks for sharing this! Another idea would be to coat a pine cone with peanut butter and seeds, it serves the same purpose!
