All of our phones and our hard drives are jammed with photos — but I bet you are like me and the most often you see your photos is when you upload them to your social networks.
It is one of my greatest frustrations that I don’t have enough of my photos on my walls. Seeing a photo of my kids can make my day so much better — and yet I still leave most of them trapped on drives.
So, when I finally get my act together and print photos and photo books or make photo gifts, I am elated. I get to enjoy my photos and smile every time I see my kids’ happy faces.
When Staples Canada asked us to check out their new line of photo gift offerings, I was excited to try out some ideas for creative photo gifts that I hadn’t made before.
Staples Copy & Print has a nice variety of photo products available including cards and invitations, canvas prints, mugs, device cases, keychains, mousepads, t-shirts, playing cards and puzzles.
Over the years, I have made a number of photo products, but I have never made playing cards or puzzles — so I was super excited to try those.
I don’t usually think of Staples as a place to print photos or canvases, so I was quite curious to see how Staples printing would hold up compared to what I am used to.
The printing was good and the quality of the products on par with other consumer printing labs.
The Staples website was easy to use and I simply picked up my products from my store when they were ready a week or so later. (I have a Staples a couple blocks away so I chose to pick up. But they have delivery available of course.)

Five Fun and Fabulous Photo Gifts
There were many photo gifts I wanted to make at Staples. It was hard to choose which ones to try.
But I narrowed it down to five…
Photo Puzzle
I knew immediately that I wanted to get a custom photo puzzle for my kids.
What a unique way to enjoy family photos — building a puzzle together of a family photo!
I think this is a super fun photo gift idea and I think I might be making them often for gifts. What a fun idea to give as a birthday gift when you want something unusual and unexpected.
Photo Playing Cards
Next up in my must have list were the custom photo playing cards. How fantastic are these?
The moment Olivia saw them, she insisted we play a few rounds of Go Fish.
You can never have enough playing cards — this is a perfect gift for almost anyone.
Photo Mouse Pad
Put smiles right under your fingers.
I spend a massive amount of time on my laptop.
So having a custom photo mouse pad is a great way to add some extra happiness to my day – and night.
Photo Mug
Ahh — the iconic photo mug. Everyone needs a few photo mugs in their cupboard…
Staples offers a few different styles, including a latte mug and travel mug. I love that the mugs have an option of choosing a different colour insert. I chose a sunshiny yellow.

These are great ideas!!! My husband and I wanted to get custom photo playing cards as the favours at our wedding, but at the time, the only places that would do it were in the States and wouldn’t ship to Canada within our price range. 🙁 We ended up choosing something else but I’m still disappointed we couldn’t do the cards. That’s awesome Staples is now doing so many photo products! I love seeing pictures of my kids around the house too. 🙂 We do a calendar every year and the girls love seeing who’s on the calendar each month. It’s a great family gift for Christmas too.
