A Family Trip to My Childhood Playground

Written by Susan

Me and my girlsTo kick off our campaign with Kaboom, our family took a trip to my childhood playground.

Sophia and Julia loved the two ‘big-kid’ playgrounds at my old elementary school. The playgrounds have been upgraded since I played there, but the memories still came rushing back.

We’re excited to join with Kaboom to raise money for the charity FirstBook.org and to help Kaboom ensure there is a play space within walking distance of every child.

And we want YOU to join our team!!!

Over the next couple of months we’ll be having fun in a race to submit as many playspaces to the Kaboom website as we can. It’s a fun competition with tons of prizes.

And, it’s all for charity. For each playspace you submit to the Kaboom website, $1 will be given to FirstBook.org.

So come on over and play!

To get you in the mood, here’s a slideshow from our day at my childhood playground.

We’ve created a Kaboom team page here on 5 Minutes for Mom where we’ll keep a copy of our Mr. Linky list where team members can link to a playground blog post or any post introducing your readers to Kaboom.

We’ll also link to our super active team members and shout out prize winners and other fun stuff.

Rob and Sophia

Join our Kaboom team, write a post on your own blog showing us some fun playground photos and then add your link below.
(A copy of this Mr. Linky will also be on
http://www.5minutesformom.com/kaboom)

Then start telling Kaboom where your favorite playspaces are!

I added one park, but I forgot to join the team first, so I don’t think they counted it. :( I’ll add some more later.

What a great way to share info with other moms about nearby parks and also contribute to charity as well. :)

I don’t have one of my daughter on the playground but I do have her playing in our backyard with our incredible jumping dog! She’s 13 how…haven’t been a slide in a while. I’m thinkin’ it’s about time to take down our swing set:(

Thanks for this awesome post! (I love the slideshow – such cute pictures!)

I went to my childhood playground last year to take photos for the KaBOOM! Playspace Finder, and it was a lot of fun. It was amazing how much it had changed but how quickly the memories came back.

It looks like you guys had a fun family outing, Sue! It was great to see a photo of your husband too…I think that’s the first time I’ve “seen” him.

KaBOOM is such an awesome idea. Truly. I can’t wait to submit a few “play spaces” in my town.
