Last summer Julia and her neighborhood friends spent day after day taking turns towing each other about in her Step 2 wagon.

And now that winter is behind us, I’m excited for another season of wagon riding.

I think that for a toddler a wagon is almost as crucial of an outdoor toy as a bike is for a school child. And for us as parents, a wagon is such a handy way to safely transport our tots to and from the park.

The Step 2 Wagon we used for the last couple of years was an old one that we discovered at a garage sale. You’ve got to love the fantastic quality of Step 2 that allows you to resell your kids’ toys once they’ve out-grown them.

But now I’m extra excited to use this fancy new Step 2 Canopy Wagon.

I absolutely love that it has a canopy to protect the kids from the sun!!!

Skin cancer tends to run in my family and so I’m extra careful to keep my girls sun-safe, but it can be tough. We were blessed that our little redhead Julia was born with a love for hats and sunglasses. For her first two summers, most neighbors didn’t even know she had red hair, because she never took off her hat.

I don’t know if we’ll be as lucky this summer… as a finicky three year old, I suspect many days she’ll toss her hat aside in an attempt to illustrate her independence.

Thanks to Step 2, I’m worrying a little less. At least while she’s riding in her wagon, her little red head will be in the shade.
