Sometimes I feel sad that my kids are far apart in age. But one thing I have been so excited about is that Jackson is old enough to read to his little sister!!
Jackson is a bright little guy and can read quite well on his own now. So reading baby books is a breeze for him. I snapped these pictures of Jackson and Olivia while they read some new books from Scholastic.
(I love Scholastic books and buy them regularly for my kids. If you want to win a bag of baby books from Scholastic, don’t miss our contest. You have until July 8th to enter.)

We have four children, 18 years old, 16 years old, almost 3 years old and just 9 months old. Our children are very close and I feel truly benefit from their special relationship and difference in age. And yes, reading is one of their favorite past-times!
You have a beautiful photo and two very beautiful children!
Happy WW!
What a great photo! That is really sweet! Candid shots are the best…
It looks like there are 2 books there. One for each of them?
Precious…..Could be a commercial.

I love story time with my boys!
LOVE the photo! My son learned to read before he turned 4….just because he sat on my lap and looked at the page while I read aloud to his two big sisters….he memorized the words!
I love reading to my kids. Shel Silvertin is still one of my all time favorites!
So sweet! I love watching my daughter read!
I think that’s awesome. I can’t wait for my oldest to be able to read to my younger three!
Oh LOL, mine is almost about reading this week too!#
I love your photo, it’s so sweet!
I even cleared the skillet supper off of my link but it must not have deleted. Oh well. Sorry about that.
Child spacing is always a quandary. There are pros and cons to having them closer or further apart. I think it is great you got at least two, no matter what their spacing!
Doesn’t it just make your heart melt?
That is truly precious!!
that’s soooo adorable!
What a precious photo! My oldest reads to my youngest too!
they truly are precious gifts.
That is a magical picture!
I have a picture just like that. My oldest and youngest are 6 years apart. It’s perfect.
Storytime, I love it!!!
I love that photo! What a wonderful bond!
Great photo! He makes a great big brother doesn’t he?
Nice picture it’s nice when they are young and get along with eachother. I hope it stays that way. Happy WW
Aww, that is so sweet. 🙂
Ages aside, it’s still a wonderful shot of them sitting together. 🙂
Oh I love this picture, mine is my youngest giving his little big sister a Bear hug. Happy WW!
Great picture–I hope our oldest (almost 6) will read to the new baby!
What an adorable picture!
Those are the best pix ” real life”…!
Jackson is such a loving big brother!
There is nothing like a good book shared between siblings!
What a sweet pic of your kids reading together!
What a wonderful picture. My kids are spaced with about 5-6 years between each (14,7,3). There are both pros and cons with this spacing. I’ve had alone time with each while the other has started school.
Listen my a person that has a 11 1/2 year gap between her and her only other sibling, same parents, Your kids will be fine. The fighting is probably way less! I love my brother more than life itself and we have along had a good time together.
In a month I will have children 15, 10, 5……. no not planned that way but it works out sooooo fine! I have a built in babysitter. They are not into each others toys, books, friends, or interests. I love it! Each kids gets one on one time, preschool years, with mom while the others are at school.
Great shot!
It really looks like she’s tracking right with Jackson, their eyes are directed to the same spot. Isn’t it a help to have an older brother? It buys you time…sometimes…when you really NEED it.
I bet in a few years when you “look back”, this will be one of your favorite pictures.
🙂
That is so precious. When my older tries to read to my younger, it becomes a battle of wills. I think they are too close together in age for that.
I have a picture like that! They are so sweet together.
Such a sweet photo!
I love this photo! What a great pic. My kids love books too, especially my 3 yr old. She’ll sit and pull book after book off the shelf. We have about 400 kids books in our library. It’s outgrowing our house!
That is SOOOO sweet!!!!
Picture perfect!
That is the sweetest!
awww! what a sweet moment they’re sharing!
There definitely are advantages of an age difference. My boys are about four years apart. I really hope my big guy will read to his little brother soon.
Cool, I have a reading one as well!
What a sweet moment you captured!
LOVE that photo.
That photo is honestly too precious for words!
That is just prieless!
Great picture and great WW! I think it is tremendous that they can work and help each other together.
I love to see brothers and sisters being all close and caring – just wait until she’s old enough to rule the roost!
so so sweet. I love this bonding moment!
I don’t mind having kids who are far apart in age. The older one will look after the younger ones. He can be quite helpful.
I love when you have to keep reading the same page over & over, and then they try to read themselves ~ but are just learning to talk!

The earlier, the better. 🙂
Too Cute!
Doesn’t that just melt your heart?
Such a precious moment 🙂 If we are successful in having another child, our children will have similar age gap as well.
Absolutely adorable!
What an incentive for him to read and practice reading!
Great photo!
That is just too precious! *heart melting*
That is a PRECIOUS photo!
What a precious picture! It’s so sweet of Jackson to read to little Olivia.
That is so wonderfully sweet. It doesn’t matter how far apart they are, especially when you can capture a moment like this!
Wow I’m first!
That’s an amazing picture!
And don’t worry about the age difference.
Our kids are 17 & 5.
Yep, 2 kids…this fall one will be a senior & one will be a kindergartener!
Now that my older girls are starting to read, it is so cute to watch them read to Becca – when she’ll let them, that is.
Such a sweet photo! 🙂
You’re teaching them well. If one loves reading, the world of knowledge awaits.
Plus, this moment is too precious.
I feel like you do sometimes Janice, wishing my kids were closer in age. But then moments like these where the older child really shines as the big sibling makes me happy it is the way it is. My 7 year old daughter loves to read to her baby sister! What a treat this is for Olivia to get to read with Jackson!!
Oh, so sweet!
I love that my daughter can read to my son. It is sweet to watch and he loves it!
Great photo!
