Wordless Wednesday – Trying to get a shot of all of us…

There is a reason we don’t have more shots of Susan and me with all four of our kids.

Now, I have so much more empathy for my parents when they were trying to get family photos of us growing up. There were four of us kids in our family and we all dreaded the annual family photo. (The outtakes are hilarious to look at now though!)

Thanks to Uisce for creating Wordless Wednesday.

We go through the same ordeal every Christmas with our four boys. But that’s okay…they’re not perfect in real life, so why should they be perfect in their pictures? The silly ones are always good for a laugh.

  2. It looks like the photographer captured each personality just right. 🙂 Happy W.W.

  3. MomSoapbox says:

Looks like a fun picture – kids seem to be doing their own thing but that’s what makes it look more fun!

  6. That’s a great shot. So real! LOL. It takes me a lot of time to get a shot of myself and my four too. When taking pics of the kids a sense of humor is always necessary.

  7. LOL – that just shows us a bit of what you go through :o)

I have SO many of these pictures. I thought it was bad with just 2, but adding a third is utter mayhem. I find it interesting that it’s our middle one who absolutely HATES it when the camera comes out.

  11. Wow- what a great photo. You all look so happy. 🙂 Happy WW!

  12. Definitely hard to get a pic of so many, but what fun it is! 😀

  25. What a great family shot, squirming notwithstanding. 😉

  26. Looks just like our family shots. In the last one, my niece is leaning back, and it looks like she doesn’t have a head. Oh, well. Someone has to sacrifice, right?

  27. Aloha Monkey says:

That’s a great shot. I love outtakes and candid shots too. The subjects look less fake.

Group photos (especially with kids) are rough, aren’t they? I like them with a bit of personality, though 🙂

  33. killlashandra says:

Yep, I know about those attempts at a family picture. Sometimes I think it might be easier to just photoshop one together out of many different pictures. 🙂

  34. What a fun portrait of all of you!

  35. Ah, that’s a great shot!! I love photos like that.

  36. aclaypot4him says:

The Baby looks like she is acting just as goofy as the older boy.

These kind of pictures make the best memories though. 😉

  43. Jean at Penny Lane says:

At least you can look back and have a laugh remembering how you always tried to get it together. Maybe when they are older, it might get better? Maybe?

We have had the same trouble with capturing photos of our two sons and my niece. Still those funny shots are priceless like the one above 🙂

  50. MommyWizdom says:

Those shots are not easy – you did pretty well. At least you can see everyone’s head! Nice job – they’re adorable!!

Come check out my new meme, Pet Peeve Tuesday!

  51. That is too funny! Not one of the kids is looking directly at the camera with both eyes!! How cute!

  52. Robin ~ PENSIEVE says:

There are three times we attempt family photos: Christmas, Easter and at the beach in the summer. These are the only times I’m concerned my children might need therapy ’cause I’m so manic about it (which doesn’t help a bit).

This shot of y’all? STINKIN’ ADORABLE! It’s just “life” bein’ lived, ya know?

So wish Susan was making a stop in Chattanooga on her way to Atlanta; OR that I was still living in Atlanta…I’d show her the town and I’m pretty sure we’d never stop talking blawg stuff!

Susan if you check in, you’ve gotta eat at The Varsity downtown….it’s an institution!

    🙂

  53. Oh, that’s a very cute family picture ! so natural !

  54. Great photo! I know what you mean about getting lots of kids to smile…at the same time with OPEN eyes~ we have 5 kids and family photos are hilarious!!!!!!

  55. Busymama Kellie says:

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. My kids think it’s hilarious to make faces. Or close their eyes. Or look at the floor…

  56. I LOVE that photo. It’s so much more you guys than a “proper” posed one would be.

  57. LOVE the picture! You girls are gorgeous! You look identical. Are you? I have twins who are 6 months old and I have been asked that question about a million times, so I guess you’ve probably been asked about 20 million. Anyway, great photo! Thanks for all you do!

  58. napaboaniya says:

It takes some effort in getting kids for a group photo for sure 😛
