Wordless Wednesday — Warming Up Her Christmas Smile

Wordless Wednesday - Olivia - Christmas, 2010
Olivia -- Away in a Manger

Olivia is thrilled about being old enough to perform in Christmas concerts this year. On Sunday, she filed onto the stage at church, the string of preschoolers dressed in their Christmas best, and sang her sweet heart to baby Jesus with “Away in a Manger.” Here she is after church demonstrating for her proud mommy her manger for “Away in a Manger.”

In case you thought you missed your chance, we wanted to make sure you knew that you can STILL get a Free Canvas or a $55 gift certificate for a larger canvas from The Canvas People. I am so excited — I have ordered six so far. I am obsessed.

This is an affiliate link so when you buy from them, it helps support 5 Minutes for Mom — and we really appreciate that support! THANKS!

Post a photo on your site, link up and find others… Wordless Wednesday is tons of fun. (And I know it says “wordless” but I just can’t bear to not write anything! If I had created it, I probably would have named it something different! LOL)

Here is a fun thumbnail linky…

But if you prefer the old style, you can use this linky:

Thanks to Uisce for creating Wordless Wednesday.

Did you know that Susan and I own two online toy stores where you can find adorable toys for Christmas like a pedal car or a cute rocking horse. You know, in case Santa needs any ideas!

She is just beautiful. I’m glad she got to play her part in the play. I can’t wait for my kids to be in plays. I used to love it when I was a child.

    1. I am just really feeling the that right now – that I could just keep all this sweetness of her at three. It is disappearing too fast!

  30. ConnieFoggles says:

I love her smile. There’s no way she can fake that! Our children make this special time of year even more important. Enjoy her every minute!

    1. Yip – she wasn’t faking. But it still took a little while of monkeying around before I got that shot! The trick was to get her to do the Away in a Manger. That just had her beaming! 🙂

  31. Diana - Teacher Mom says:

    Olivia is such a doll!

  32. Gorgeous! The kindergartners sang that song at our school Christmas program this year, I think everyone was teary!! It was just too sweet!

    1. It is a tear-jerker for sure! 🙂

  33. It Feels Like Chaos says:

    So sweet!

  34. I was just telling Mike tonight that I want to learn to take better pictures… I have a great camera and I don’t have a strong understanding of any of the settings. Your photos are always so bright and amazing. This is such a precious shot!

    1. GInny — it is all about TWO things – actually THREE things.

1 – a great lens (If u can’t afford a high quality zoom, then get a 50mm. It will give you the crisp vibrant shots AND have the aperature you need for shallow depth of field and shooting in low light.

2 – LIGHTROOM! I still use my Photoshop Elements for some things, but I now do almost ALL of my lighting and color, etc in Lightroom. And I never publish a shot without enhancing the light, contrast and usually white balance and saturation.

3 – I take hundreds of shots. I have my camera on a fast shutter speed and I click multiple shots as well.

In the New Year, I plan on writing regularly about photography. 🙂 So you can learn here too. 🙂

  35. Oh goodness, she is just adorable. And look at those painted finger nails! She must’ve loved those! I am brought to tears every time kids sing at church. They are so precious and I’m sure the Lord loves hearing them sing!

    1. Those fingernails almost made her late for her performance! LOL Olivia is obsessed with painting her nails and toes. Almost everyday she wants a new color or a fresh coat.

So, Sunday am when I was scrambling to get us to church early so she could get to her class to get ready for the service, she insists that she needs that color. She wasn’t going to give in without a fight — and I decided it would be faster and sweeter to do her nails than to have a meltdown. So, a VERY fast coat of paint, a hairdryer and we were on our way!

In the photo they look so RED that I was worried people would be horrified! LOL

  36. Jacqueline says:

Isn’t that the sweetest expression?! Such a doll! 🙂

  37. What a coincidence! Me and my family are in charge of our church’s Christmas Family Service this year, and my youngest daughter Florencia (7) will sing ‘Away in a manger’!! Even more, my WW post today just features videos of us singing Christmas carols, and “Away in a manger” is among them, though sung by my other daughter Carolina (13).

    Merry Christmas!

  38. My daughter sang Away in the Manger last year. It’s so sweet to watch the little ones sing and do the actions.

    1. soooooooooo sweet! 🙂

  39. Carrie with Children says:

She makes me smile! You can tell by the look on her cute, little face that she is proud of herself! So sweet!

    1. She sure is!!! And it doesn’t hurt that I keep telling her how proud I am of her! LOL

  40. Mama Whimsy says:

What a sweetheart! I love the confidence in her pose.

    1. You know – that is cool that you mentioned that. I don’t think of it very often — but yes, she is a confident little girl. My son has struggled so much with insecurities and anxiety that to see confidence is a new thing for me!

  41. You take such great shots, but I must say, you have Excellent Subject matter. Olivia is cute ass always!

    1. She sure is! Your typo made me read twice tho – LOL. Read what you wrote. LOL

      1. Amys blah, blah, blogging says:

Totally thought the same thing. Funny. 🙂

  42. This is Such a beautiful little girl and picture!!
