V.ALRT Wearable Alert Device from VSN Mobil

I love when advances in technology help keep us safer and more connected. And a wonderful example of technology helping families is the V.ALRT Personal Emergency Response Device.

It is a small wearable device that works with a smartphone to sound an alarm and send out urgent calls and text messages with the press of a button.

You can slip the little round device in a pocket or purse, or better yet… it can be attached to one of several accessory options such as a pendant, wristband, or belt clip. The belt clip is sold separately, but the pendant and wristband are both included.

How I Plan To Use The V.ALRT

I was sent a sample to try and I’m really pleased with how simple it is to setup and use. I’m going to give mine to my 74 year old mother. It’s a perfect way to help me not worry as much about her.

The device has fall detection, so if she were to fall, I’d automatically get a text message and/or a phone call.

If any other emergency happened and she needed our help, she wouldn’t need to fumble for her smartphone or get it out from her purse or find it somewhere in the house. She’ll have the device on her wrist or clipped to a pocket, and she just needs to press it for 2 seconds and we’ll come running.

I also plan to get a device for my girls when they get a little older and more independent.

The Technology

Using Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth 4.0 LE) technology, the V.ALRT initiates calls and text messages from a designated smartphone (iOS or Android). With a single button press, the V.ALRT sends a command to your smartphone to transmit your location along with a personalized text message to up to three pre-selected contacts. The V.ALRT can even initiate follow up phone calls from your smartphone to ensure you get your contact’s attention.

It’s even waterproof! You can wear the V.ALRT in the shower, while exercising and swimming. I love that there’s no need to recharge as it provides up to a year of use before needing to replace the battery.
