Tackle It Tuesday – The Never-Ending Tackle

If this tackle is ever done, I will fall over with relief…

We are trying to get ready. We are running out of time. The tackle is nowhere near finished.

So – for those of you who don’t know what this monster tackle is – we are trying to tackle renovating both Susan’s house and my house to make room for the babies and our new au pairs. In total, we have six rooms that we are working on. Susan gave a detailed list of the tackle in a tackle post two weeks ago. (In short, at my house we are building two rooms – one for Jackson and one for the au pair – and getting Jackson’s old room ready for the baby. At Susan’s, we are moving the office for our business downstairs, changing the old office space into a room for the au pair and getting Julia’s room ready to share with their new baby.)

And time is running out.

The problem is that we simply don’t have enough time to work on the projects. The stores and 5 Minutes for Mom keep Joan, Susan and I so busy, and Susan and I are both feeling so tired with our pregnancies, that during the week we barely get to work on the projects. And when we only have a handful of weeks left, it is a little concerning!

Honestly – to take pictures of it all would make this post too long and take too much time. And looking at it all at once is just too depressing!

But to give you a feel for the chaos, here is what Jackson’s new room looks like right now. We have removed the desk, computers, filing cabinet etc. But we need to finish getting everything out, paint the walls, build the furniture (gotta love the extra work of buying from Ikea) and get all his stuff moved in.

And all the stacks of papers that needed to be sorted that I posted about in a tackle a few weeks ago? No – I don’t have them dealt with yet. Now they are stacked in the hall!

In the basement, you will see where all the files have ended up. We have moved the filing cabinet down here, but I just haven’t got all the files back in it yet. And you can see a bunch of other chaos of unsorted scrapbook stuff, moved boxes, furniture etc.

If this looks depressing, times it by ten! Every room in my house seems to look like this right now. I didn’t even show you the pictures of the other areas of the tackle!

We haven’t even begun to move our office at Susan’s house down to her basement. (The contractor is still finishing with the work over there, building the new wall and door frame.)

Oh – and did I mention nothing is painted yet? We haven’t even picked out the paint yet! Oh.My.Word.

These babies are due early in October. Let’s hope they aren’t too early…

What are you tackling? Link up and show off.

  4. “I think I can, I think I can” will soon turn to “I thought I could, I thought I could”.

  5. That is a huge tackle you have there. But at least your house looks clean and unorganized. Mine is unorganized and dirty. But then my baby isn’t due until Jan so I have all the time in the world. Ya Right. Good luck

  6. Thank you for hosting,
O.K. I have an easy day of it compared to your challenge, but ya know girls I think I just needed one today. Have fun it is so good to be motivated. Even if it is from without 🙂 Enjoy the celebrations of all those “to dos” off your shoulders!

Wow, and I thought I had tackled a lot before our baby arrived last week. Gosh! I envy the decorating opportunity though.

    Good luck!

  8. you mean…rooms aren’t supposed to be *organized* that way?

  9. Hey there guys, have you hired your nannies yet? Could they help by watching kids, or maybe even hire a “handy man” that could help move things and paint – I know he cant do the paperwork stuff but at least help you by painting and that kinda thing!

Your in my prayers! My sister is due in the next 2 weeks man it’s baby city around here!

My tackles up, I cleaned the car – thank goodness it was yesterday, LOL Today it’s raining – today I am tackling MORE sewing! Gotta love that!

  10. Don’t worry, that burst of “nesting” energy will help you get it done right on time. 🙂

Ok, one thing at a time. You and Susan let contractors, hubbies, whoever do their jobs and THEN…you have to look at one small task at a time and it will move faster than you think. If you continue to look at the BIG picture (everything at once) you WILL go insane.

Now breathe deeply and tackle one little thing each day. 🙂

  12. Wow! Quite a tackle!!
    Beckie’s mini-cheer:
    YOU CAN DO IT!
    YES, YOU CAN!
    GO! GO! GO!

    HAPPY TACKLING!
    Blessings, Beckie

  13. Seeing the project you are tackling makes me think that God knew what He was doing only giving us a teeny-weeny living space…I can only imagine if I had all that room how much “stuff” we’d fill it with!

    You’re doing great!

  14. No pics, but I have a long long long list…

Looks like a humongous job. Any way to get some help? Just chip away at it when you can — it will get done eventually.

  22. Looks like organized chaos to me 🙂

  23. Janice, I am wondering if you could link to my prayer request for Kristen today. She’s been so sick that I had the kids overnight, and she has the big doctor’s appointment today to learn the condition of the babies. Thank you!

  26. Jodie Allen says:

keep going! as my grandma would say, every day just DO 10. Pick up and PUT AWAY (in the right place) 10 things and in no times things will seem less chaotic and more organized! Good luck with everything!

  27. Seems like you have a monumental task at hand. Am hoping to see “development” next week. And to think the babies are arriving soon..Am thinking “frenzy.”
