Thanking God for His Grace #GoodFriday

When I survey the wondrous cross

To be honest, I don’t like thinking about the cross.

While I trust and believe, I don’t understand it.

I find Good Friday and Easter to be complicated holidays. I’m so immeasurably thankful for God’s grace, but I’ll never be comfortable thinking about Jesus dying on the cross. It’s an image to difficult for me to grasp.

But still I focus on the profound message of Good Friday, and I thank God.

One of my favorite hymns is this…

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
by Isaac Watts

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Thank you God for Your Son and your ultimate sacrifice.

When I survey the wondrous cross
