This is Janice, co-founder of 5 Minutes for Mom, with a Peppermint Cookies and Cream Milkshake recipe that is so minty, creamy, and cookielicious, you will want to hide it from your kids so you can drink it all yourself! Thanks to Kenwood for sponsoring this oh-so-yummy post.

I have mentioned before about my obsession with ice cream. Yes, if there is one food that holds complete power over me it is ice cream.
And while I try to make healthier ice cream options, like the Blueberry and Avocado Frozen Yogurt recipe I shared a couple weeks ago, some days I just grab a tub of real cream vanilla ice cream and whip up a quick but decadent milkshake.
In my defense, since I have the fabulous Kenwood Blend-X Pro Blender sitting on my kitchen counter, I really did need to test it out making a good old-fashioned milkshake, right? I am just doing my due diligence as a blogger. (Oh yes, I am very talented at coming up with reasons to eat ice cream. Watch out for a recipe on a homemade ice cream I am planning later this month…)
The Holiday Season Calls for Peppermint
It might have been because I had a bit of a cold and was looking for some comfort. It might have been the Christmas decorations starting to pop up in stores. Or it might have been just because I love peppermint. But the other day I had a NEED for something peppermint.
As I pondered what form my peppermint fix should come in, I decided my sore throat wanted ice cream. Okay, all of me wanted ice cream!
So I decided to make a peppermint infused ice cream milkshake. And, to increase the yumminess for you, (yes, I did it for you, wink wink,) I added some Mint Oreo cookies to the mix. Oh yes, I did.
Let’s Get This Started
Okay, I know you already have your ice cream sitting on the counter getting soft, so I will cut to the chase.
What you are going to need for this milkshake is:
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Milk
- Peppermint Candies or Candy Canes
- Peppermint Extract (optional – the candies will suffice if you don’t have any extract)
- Oreo Cookies – I used Mint for extra minty fun
- Whip Cream (optional for topping)
I didn’t have any candy canes and my grocery store didn’t have any in stock yet, (yes, insert shock, since it is November now!) So, I used some peppermint candies and threw them into my Kenwood Blend-X Pro Blender, and with one quick pulse, I had my chopped up candies.
Then I just added in my ice cream, milk, peppermint extract, and a couple cookies, blended for a few seconds – and ta da – I had my milkshake.
If you want your cookies to stay in bigger pieces. Blend your shake without the cookies for a few seconds and then add cookies for one quick pulse or two.
For a richer milkshake – like you get in a restaurant – you want to put in a ton of ice cream and very little milk. BUT, I try to be reasonable, and so I don’t go crazy with the ice cream. I also often first crush some ice in my blender to add some more cold and texture to my shakes if I am trying to go with less ice cream.
With the Kenwood Blend-X Pro Blender they have these handy presets so you can quickly and easily grind your ice, mix your drinks etc. Super helpful.
Seconds Anyone?

That way, your blender won’t be getting icky in the sink and you have to stop to clean it before you make another batch. (Or, if you are disciplined and don’t make a second batch, it will be super easy to clean. No one wants a dried on milkshake mess to clean the next morning.)
I always rinse out my blenders by giving them a quick spin with some warm water and a drop of dish soap and then I am not hating myself later when I have a big blender mess to clean.
Pour and Top…
If you are going to make a milkshake this delicious, you really want to make it look as fabulous as it tastes.
So after you pour your shake into a nice tall glass, top it with whip cream, some crushed peppermint candy, and of course, some crumbled cookie.
Then, sit down and pat yourself on the back. You just saved money by making this milkshake at home and not ordering it at a restaurant. Good for you! That might even be a good enough excuse to pour a second glass…

Peppermint and oreo, yum!
How fun! I always do the warm water and a dash of dish soap as soon as I finish with my blender. Quick & easy.
Now that sound so good and looks great as well, thanks!
That looks so good! I’m tempted to try it out but I’m not sure my blender can handle peppermint candies. I’ll have to watch out at the grocery store for peppermint extract.
