I have to admit, I didn’t believe it.
I didn’t believe that Disney was the happiest place on earth.
Sure, I planned on eventually going to Disneyland or Disney World for the sake of my kids. (My son was constantly informing me that he was the only first grader in the whole world who had never been to Disneyland or Disney World.)
But personally, my idea of the perfect vacation was to skip the busyness of a fair and head to a beach, armed with a towel and a really good book.
It was how I was raised. My parents were not fair-going people.
Every year they vacationed on the very same beach, under the very same umbrella, loaded down with books and sunscreen. They looked on in disbelief at parents who brought their children with them on vacation. No — to them a vacation was for reading and relaxing.
They did bring us to Disneyland once when I was six. But the subject of returning never came up. My parents were happiest in Hawaii on their beloved beach.
So, I assumed that that beach was where I would be happiest too.
BUT I was wrong!
Now, after experiencing the magic of Walt Disney World — I BELIEVE!!!
In fact, I am so in love with Walt Disney World, I wish I were there right now! I could return year after year after year and never be full.
It IS simply magical.
Why am I so enamored with Disney? Let me tell you…

I knew my kids would love Walt Disney World. I mean come on?!? I think it would be impossible for kids to NOT love Disney!
Disney is imagination come to life!
At Walt Disney World, kids get to be a part of a world they had only imagined before. To a child that interaction can only be understood as magic.
And to a parent, seeing our children’s eyes dance, their hearts jump and kick, and their minds travel to a world where dreams really do come true, that is about as wonderful as parenting gets.
My toddler, Olivia, and my seven-year-old, Jackson, were both in childhood bliss in the happiest place on earth — but I was more than just along for the ride…
I loved Disney World myself! Yes — beach loving, book reading, internet addicted, easily nauseated by anything spinning around in the air — me!

As the parades danced through the streets, as the giant, stuffed characters hugged us, as the fireworks exploded in the sky — with the music of Disney accompanying it all — I was in that magical world too, celebrating the sweetest parts of life.
When I looked around, I saw all ages enjoying the parks. And those without kids were having just as great of a time (maybe sometimes an even better time! LOL) as those of us with kids.
I realized that Disney magic is for everyone!

But at Walt Disney World I learned that there are a lifetime of vacations waiting for you. There is so much to do and enjoy, we could go for a dozen trips and still not have done it all!
We met visitor after visitor who return every year to Disney World. I met a mother with an autistic son who brings him a few times every year. “He comes alive at Disney World. He loves it here. It is our thing that we do together.” she told me.
We also met so many families who were part of the Disney Vacation Club. Each one of them raved about their experiences. “We love it!” one father told me, “And every other Vacation Club member you meet will tell you the same.”
I asked another father what made them come back every year. “It is the best place for family vacations,” he explained, “Everything is accessible, convenient and self contained. It is safe, clean and family friendly. It just makes vacationing so easy.”
Phil and I are definitely planning to return to Walt Disney World. My son Jackson said, “Mom, we can just put aside a bit of money each month and then we will have enough to come again.”

There’s NO vacation like a Disney Vacation. These ARE great Disney World hotel deals – My husband and I cannot wait to take the kids back to the happiest place on earth!
My 18 yr old is just graduating this year and has never been to Disney World. I tell him I want to take him this summer and even signed up for the give a day program but since it is now over, I think we are out of luck for getting free tickets. Cameron is such a good person helping handicapped people at school and too nice to fight back the bullies. He started school with ADHD but managed to get off the meds by High School. He has really had trouble the whole 13 years of school. I just am so proud of him and want him to see Disney World an least once in his lifetime. I tell him how special this place is and he says “We can’t afford it Mom”. I wish we could because he is growing up on me and time is getting away. Soon he will be gone. Kind of like the Cat’s in the cradle song.
I love Disney World – especially when you get cet a deal (and a free give away is certainly a deal!). It really is a terrific vacation destination – a little expeisive but you get the quality you pay for. Love it!
Disney is totally magical!
However, we have done it another way – and we love it and are already planning to do it again.
We stayed offsite. Gasp! Yes, we rented a 2000 sq ft 5 bedroom/5bathroom home with http://www.romancingthemouse.com . The benefits? Well, with 4 kids (plus we went with the grandparents, as well as one aunt/uncle) – we simply need the space! Our family of 6 being in a hotel room together all week after being tired out from days at Disney was just not an attractive option for me.
PLUS – we got our own private pool and hot tub! Honestly – the days we spent at the house relaxing by the pool were some of our kids favourite days. We had an absolute blast! It made our Disney vacation relaxing – and how many people can say that?!
And we were so close by. Being in Windsor Hills, we literally were in the Animal Kingdom parking lot less than 10 mins after pulling out of our driveway. We were close enough to come back for an afternoon swim/nap before heading back to the parks – all we missed was the hottest/busiest time of day!
Plus we could make out own breakfast – I get tired of restaurant food after awhile. If you really wanted to save money you could make all your own meals – but hey, I’m on vacation here! We often just picked up Subway for lunch, sometimes we made our own sandwhiches and then we always went to a restaurant for dinner.
Especially with having a 3 month old at the time – I could put him down for a nap inside and go out and swim! Can’t do that at a hotel!

Great post…too bad I saw it to late to enter the drawing. I am a bona fide Disney NUT. We leave on Thursday for our Magical Gathering with both sets of grandparents and aunt/uncle/cousin! It is going to be my daughter’s first time and my son’s second. It is truly a magical place. I am currently doing a countdown to our trip on my blog with Disney-themed posts. I like Disney World. Last Year I had gone Florida Disney world with my friends. Really it is very attractive and magic. Disney world is wonderful place in the world.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time!! I always thought we could NEVER afford Disney World, then I started checking into it and we took our first trip in 2000! Wow! Was it ever magical, wonderful, exciting and everything inbetween! We have been back twice since then and I can not wait to go back!! Sometimes, I think I love it more then the kids…LOL.

My dad(Papa)wanted to treat my kids to Disneyworld, but we were waiting for my youngest to get a little older so she’d remember. Well, my dad starts to cough (never smoked or drank) and get diagnosed 9-12 months to live. He suffered everyday for 8 months and we lost him. Now that my mom is alone, she needs to survive on her own and hubby’s laid off-SO I am grateful for a chance!

I have always been a firm believer that Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth – the magical quality that is found in the parks cannot be replicated anywhere. I love the cleanliness, the friendliness, the rides, the food, the characters, the shows… basically EVERYTHING! I have a little dream of going to work for Disneyland once I retire (which is a LONG time from now, but it is good to dream, right?) I have experienced Disney through the years – I remember the sheer joy of the park as a child when I believed that I was seeing the REAL Sleeping Beauty and Mickey Mouse and truly taking a rocket ship journey to the moon. I rejoiced in my teen and early adult trips when I went every few years for the rides and could spend a full day at the park taking advantage of every Fast Pass and roller coaster the park had to offer. Now, I am enjoying the park from an entirely new perspective – as a parent experiencing the magic through the eyes of of my children. I love Disneyland and Disney World and we would LOVE the opportunity to win tickets! My youngest daughter has yet to experience the parks and this giveaway would be amazing!

My wife and I are planning on visiting in May. Would love to get some feedback on planning for this trip. Everything sounds fantastic. How can one see and do everything in five days? What is best to see the first time around?
I’ve been going to Disney World regularly since 1972. I know it pretty well. Blame it on my parents. Yes, they are good parents. They’re in the 60’s and still regularly go by themselves to Disney World. We’ll sometimes get surprise phone calls from them saying, “Guess where we are? We’re having coffee in Downtown Disney.” Today, I’m a stay-at-home dad who is really tight with money and is always saving our extra pennies so we can travel to Orlando again. My favorite place to stay at Disney is the Pop Century Resort. I was also pleasantly surprised at how nice the family suites are at All-Star Music when we visited Disney World last year. I love Disney!

Walt Disney World is absolutely the Wonderful place to vacation. If you get the chance take your children to the Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party. This runs quite often during the month of October. If you have grown up in cold weather, then you know about Trick Or Treating with a coat over your costume. At Disney no coat and Tons of FUN!!
I love disney! Even as a grown-up I cry everytime I hop that monorail and come around the bend and see the castle just waiting for me! This past time we even took the dog!We are going to florida spring break ti visit relatives and this would be perfect for the day (they get the cheap discount..LOL). Can’t wait tio go back!

I am a Disney freak. As a matter of fact, I like to go alone, without any annoying children. I can do that now. I have taken all my kids, and my grandson. Now it is just me, with no one to harsh my Disney mellow.

Me and my family went this past Christmas and stayed till January 4th, this was the second time in 3 years, I was the best!!! I was already trying to plan yet another trip for the next christmas…I absolutly LOVE Disey and wish I could go every year…I have learned some really good tips and tricks…One of my best suggestions, Is always get at leased the magic your way plus dining, It is great, not only is the food paid for before you get there, but you get to try some of the be food around, If you are a first timer, be sure to make dining reservations 6 months out, and Lecelliers is one of the best in Epcot!! We loved it!

Disney World is Great. We are planning on a trip in August. Although my daughter and I have already been there, we are taking my nephew for his first trip ever. I can not wait to see the excitement in his eye. He will definitely, as does everyone, there first trip to the magical world.
I have many of the same feelings you describe above — is it too overwhelming to take on Disney with three young children?? I’ve put it off for fear of meltdowns and tears. Wow! This is a great giveaway. My husband is an airline pilot so we get free flight benefits. We’ve been meaning to get down to Disney for our 4 year old daughter. Everyday she is lost in a world of princesses and magic so I can’t imagine how her little body would handle THE Disney World experience!!
This is the truest writting about a Parents first trip to Disney with her children. I went for the First time at 17 and can not even begin to tell you how many times I have been back. We love it. There is something for every age group and being able to watch your child grow. We brought our child for the first time when she was 3 and she was JUST able to go on Splash Mt for the first time this year at 6. And every time we went she would stand up againts that height sign, and say” Not yet! maybe next time”. Enjoy the gift that “Uncle Walt” gave us all, TIME, to be a kid, with our kids! What a gift!!!! Thanks Uncle Walt!!

My three boys have been begging me to go to Disney World and I kept putting it off. Now we can no longer afford it and my oldest boys is nine. Next year I fear will be to late and will lose all the magic for them. We were lucky and found very cheap tix. to Florida for Spring Break. My son and I just got back from 3 days in disney, after staying at the park I will only do it that way. I wish the food was a little more healthy, but my 3 yr old had a blast, and seeing it through his eyes made it all the more special. My parents came too, it is wonderful to see so many generations together celebrating at disney. My parents had a great time with my son, and they got to remember the fun family times we had there too.

Ok I have to admit I like Disney world too.
I was born on the same day as Mickey 11/18/1958
My favorite next to mickey is tinkerbell. I’m sort of ashamed to admit it but we live only 35 miles from Disney and since living here 8 years now haven’t been to disney. Actually the last time we went was in 1995. My grandsons are coming over spring break to spend time with us, they love to hang out with their 17 and 12 year old aunt and uncle. I would love to be able to take them to disney. Winning the four tickets would help so much since we are on a tight budget. I know they wanted to attend the pirates dinner show so being the awesome winner would be even more special for them.
So thank you for the chance of a lifetime to bring memories to my grandsons.

We are budgeting for a trip with my grandchildren in June. This would save us money for other expenses.

Disney is the best!!! We live very close to Walt Disney World and we still cannot get enough. We would go once a week if we could.

I am glad you had a great time! My fiance and I love going and have been twice in the last 3 years. It is so hard those years that we don’t go like this year because it truly is a fun place for all ages. Welcome to the cult! I am not a fan, I am a fanatic! My sister and her husband often put their noses up in the air when ever we talked about our Disney Vacation – it was beneath them, they would rather spend 3k on a shabby beach shack for a week down the shore…. then… while my daughter was a college intern in the world, the decided to do a day trip while in Florida. There were like, okay, it was fine. This year, the spend a week in orlando, off site, couldnt get enough of it and came back DISNEY EXPERTS and NO ONE LOVES DISNEY LIKE THEY DO! hmmmm. hmmmmm…. hmmmmmmm…. Do you feel like that now?

WOW!! What an offer! We finally took the kids to Disney World, but went in August when it was hot, hot, hot! We couldn’t do as much as we wanted b/c of the heat. We would love to go back during an off-peak and cooler time.

WOW what an awesome giveaway! I actually just decided on our trip to Disney in November over Thanksgiving. I have been looking all day at dining options, character dining and park ticket options. I know for sure we are staying at the Animal Kingdom resort but as far as what else to add I am lost. Any other tips you have to make the most out of the trip, I would really appreciate. We will be taking my teenager, twins (who will be 2 when we go) my sister, her husband and my niece who is 3. WE NEED MAJOR ADVICE!!!!

Loved your article about the Disney “Magic”! We took our kids this year, and I had only been for high school senior trip (long, long ago!) So to see it through a child’s eyes was amazing, like watching them bouncing with Tigger at the Crystal Palace (I had to join in as well!), or when my daughter, dressed as her favorite princess, Snow White, got to meet the “real one” at the castle breakfast. She beamed as Snow White asked if this was her twin!
Castle Breakfast = $120, My Little Princess’ smile = priceless!
As you mentioned, we will need many more trips to even attempt to do everything there. I can’t wait to take them back again – maybe I’ll win your tickets!

Been going all of my life (I’m a Florida native), and it never does get old. I would love to go again this year. We (myself and three kiddos) haven’t been for a couple of years. Thank you for the chance!

my parent’s are disney vacation members and go twice a year. we tag along when we can and I must say I love it there! I love the beach club and always ask my parents if we can stay there. I am still such a 7 year old to them 🙂

My Mom took my oldest daughter, when she was two. We were hoping to take both girls this summer. We lived in Florida, when I was growing up & went to Disney almost every year & I loved it. Can’t wait to take the girls. Thank you for such a great offer!
It’s been many years since we took our children to Disney World. Unfortunately, I had to stay in the hotel room because I was sick, so I didn’t get to experience the joy with them. Hopefully we can do it again some day soon.

You girls always have some good giveaways, but this rocks!! Our family loves Disney and can never get enough. We also stay on the property when we go at a Value resort and it is well worth it to do so. Everybody is so darn friendly!! We were actually planning a trip to Disney during my spring vacation mid April, but had to cancel it due to economic issues. We were still hoping to head to visit family in Florida and take a day trip to Disney so this would be an answer to prayer!! Thank you for such an awesome giveaway.

I used to spend summers with my grandparents and my mom’s parents lived very close to Disneyland, so I would go several times while I was with them. It’s hard to believe that Roo just turned 5 and we still haven’t made it to Disneyworld or Disneyland… we really need to get there one of these days so she and Jasper can grow up loving it as much as I did.

Would love to visit Disney World again! Havent been in so long; seems the kids get older and you just dont go as much. But we all turn to kids again when we walk down Main Street. I know there are new rides and attractions that we would just love to see again. Four Tickets would be perfect for my family – 2 kids and 2 adults. Since we live in Tampa, we could drive. What a savings that would be. I was recently laid off and I absolutely NEED to visit the Happiest Place on Earth!! Thanks for the opportunity

Yes, Walt Disney World is truly magical. The first time I went there I was 30 years old, and felt like a little princess! I would absolutely love to take my children there — they’ve been once, and still talk about how it was “the best time ever”… They would love to go again! Thanks for offering this!

I couldn’t agree more. My husband (then boyfriend) and I had a spectacular time there BY OURSELVES a number of years ago! And, long story, we actually ended up getting married there. As you might imagine from your park experience, they took truly outstanding care of us. We can’t wait to take our kids someday!
