The thought of cancer is scary. The thought of breast or ovarian cancer, especially when related to someone who has suffered from either, is even scarier. However, there is a test that could warn you about your chances of getting cancer, helping you to make better informed health care decisions.
BRACAnalysis® is a test for individuals thought to be at high risk for hereditary breast or ovarian cancer because of a personal and/or family history of breast or ovarian cancer. BRACAnalysis® detects mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, the gene mutations that are responsible for the vast majority of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
It is one little test that could give you a chance to keep making memories with the people you love. Do you have a personal or family history of breast or ovarian cancer? Just Ask! Ask that question of yourself, your family, friends and doctor. Take the test and spread the word to others who may benefit from it.

It takes one second to like a fan page. Imagine the world of difference you could make! Not only will your “like” help support this important cause, but it could also win you a great prize.

This test would be so wonderful and could save so many lives. I hope the insurance companies will begin to pay for the testing since it would save them money in the long run. Get the test if you can, please it may save your life.
My comment that I will share is that my mother is a 2 time breast and 1 time ovarian cancer survivor. We also both have been tested for the gene.

I like them on facebook. This is very close to home. My mother had breast cancer – my grandmother died of ovarian cancer before I was born. After my mother passed I went to a cancer risk specialist who was going to analyze my risk of getting cancer. I couldn’t afford to get the Braca test at the time and now I guess I NEED to go back. I think that insurance might pay for it now. I need to do this for my children! I”ve always thought it was not a if, but when for me.

My mom had lung cancer two years ago. Earlier this year, she had a complete mastectomy for breast cancer. Now, she has skin cancer cells on her knee. Cancer is scary and mean. I don’t know how mom just keeps going, but she does. She’s a trooper, and I love her. At the same time she was undergoing her mastectomy and chemo, my mother-in-law had a single mastectomy and went through radiation. Shortly after that, a blog friend and friend in real life (now) had an ovarian cancerous tumor removed. Too much cancer in this world!

I would urge everybody that has had cancer in their family to have this test. My insurance unfortunatley will not pay for me to have it. I can’t afford it but I am hoping soon my insurance company will allow this BracAnalysis. It could save so many lives.
My grandmother had breast cancer twice – and survived both times.

I liked Just Ask-thanks for supporting such a great cause
I “liked” Just Ask! of FB. I’m pleased to hear about this. I lost my best friend to ovarian cancer last year. She fought the battle for 8 months. This past Saturday was the one-year anniversary of her passing. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss her.
I’m glad to see that research is being done to detect these awful cancers early, and possibly prevent them.
Thank you for sharing!
I liked the page on FB, and I’m really interested in this movement. I have had several great-aunts pass away from breast cancer, and my youngest aunt was diagnosed with it in both breasts before she was 40! Thankfully she received her diagnosis and treatment early enough, and she’s been cancer free for over 5 years now.
I like “Just Ask” Facebook page and for the first time sharing my first experience with Ovarian Cancer in my family. My grandmother recently died of Ovarian Cancer. Had we known about it, she would still be here. We didn’t know about her illness because she kept her discomforts to herself. She is from Haiti so going to a doctor for screenings to her was never important unless she was in severe pain. My aunts tried to get her to see a doctor and do a physical and see an OBGYN every time she comes to the US but she always refused and said she was fine and did not need to see a doctor.
Fast forward a couple of month after she went back to Haiti. Her health rapidly declined and she was bleeding. Finally, she agreed to see an OBGYN who told my mom that the cancer was too advanced and all we could do was to make her comfortable and help her manage the pain. 1 week later she was bed-ridden and 1 week after that she died. She died in peace because we prayed for her and she found peace with her dying before it happened.
Cancer is real but for many of us there are things we can do to prevent certain forms of cancer.

My sister died from ovarian cancer and my insurance will not cover the BrackAnalysis test. I hope insurance companies will realize it would save them a lot of money if they allowed for testing, and not when somebody actually gets cancer. I know the test could not be as expensive as cancer treatments. I would love to spread the word!!!!! Thanks Ladies
I “liked” on Facebook. I lost my mother to breast cancer almost 6 years ago when she was only 48 years old, her mom had breast cancer as well as my grandma’s sisters. I’ve never been tested for the gene but am curious about it since it seems like it runs in my family!
My grandmother passed away from ovarian cancer, and it was hardest to watch my mom have to go through losing her mother. I hope that won’t be me someday.
