“Mom, can you pleeeease have sextuplets, or at least some twins. Two kids in our family is just not enough.” (Jackson has been watching Jon and Kate plus Eight again.)
“Jackson – I can’t just order up sextuplets or twins,” I pry open his mouth to scrub his teeth and chuckle a bit – but not much. Even imagining Kate’s life for a moment is enough to overwhelm any mom. Getting one six year old boy out the door to kindergarten seems to be challenging for me.
“Well, you have to have at least ONE more baby. We need at least one more.” Jackson reasons as I towel off his face and scoot him down the stairs.
“Jackson – I don’t think I can handle any more kids. I have my hands full with two.”
Jackson pauses as I stuff his snack bag into his backpack. “I am not going to be crazy for one year,” he states in a calm voice.
I look up confused, “What???”
“I am not going to act crazy for one whole year.”
Stunned for a second about what a glorious year that would be, I recover to try to figure out what is going through his head. “Ooooh – you mean you are going to behave for a year so that I can handle having another baby.”
“Yes.”
I laugh out loud, “Jackson you crack me up! Well – we will have to see about that. Now, let’s get to school.”
(If I promised him sextuplets – do you think I could get six years of good behavior?)

Heh – We are about to adopt baby #4 and it all started because my middle son looked around the van one day and said, “Hey, Mom, you should have another baby. We’ve got one more seat, you know!”

That’s hilarious! My kids love Jon and Kate too. My daughter, 3, always asks for “Jon Plus 8.” And my son, 6, keeps asking if we can go find their house and meet them.
awwww Mom, how can you say no to that? 😉
That is some serious bargaining going on! 😉
I reckon you should try for the 6 years of being good! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
That really made me smile. 🙂 Thanks for sharing with us!
That is way too cute!
Awesomely cute story. Go, Jackson, go!
how cute!!! i’m still laughing at your line “how glorious that year would be”. i paused for a second thinking about that gloriousness myself! That is quite impressive thinking for a six-year-old!
What a sweetie!!!!!
That is too cute and definitely one for his scrapbook! My oldest little girl was just talking tonight how she wishes mommy would have another baby. Oh how I do wish I could give her that wish!
Now that is a funny story!
I love his thought process. Smart and cute.
But don’t ask for the six years of good behavior…you know, be careful what you ask for. 😮
That is too cute, I love that he was willing to give up crazy behvior for siblings.
My Ella was too little to ASK for triplet baby sisters… she was only 17 months herself when they were born, but I know if asked now she’d say she wanted them. I am so greatful that they have each other… I hope they’ll be best of friends forever. Siblings are the coolest!!
That’s hilarious! I love that he wants a bigger family…I always wanted my mom and dad to have more kids (I wanted a sister…but had a brother) but I didn’t understand that they couldn’t have any more…the right parts to grow a baby were gone…but I still sulked about it! Sorry mom!
LOL That show scares me. I love kids but I just don’t think I have the strength…
Oh Boy!
That’s so cute! How sweet that he wants more siblings 🙂 And hilarious that he tried to bribe you!
My 5 year old son loves that show.
Lately he has been saying we need another baby brother. He has one brother and a baby sister. I am in no hurry for another one. But, it is cute when he asks.
This is hilarious. It’s so funny what goes through their minds!
Don’t you just love the conversations you have with kids. This conversation was especially cute.
So adorable!
I love how their minds work.
did you tell him nothing is impossible with God? sounds like he wants more playmates. less blogging, more babymaking, Janice. 😉
That is so cute.
Little kids say the cutest things!
This is so cute. Your son is really asking for another sibling from you.
Yeah, I’m also wondering about that. If you grant his wishes would that promise good behavior. I can only imagine that he’d be a great older brother. 🙂
That story is precious!! Okay Mom…that is some good bargaining. What you gonna do about it? Hehe…
Kids are so great!
CUTE! My two year old points to my pregnant belly and says, “Little baby…out!” I bet soon she’ll be saying, “Baby back IN!”
