5 Minutes for Books: The Chickin Feed Primer

A while back I wrote a review of the Chickin Feed Nutrition Tracker after seeing the mom-owner on the Rachael Ray show. Well now, in addition to offering a visible representation of what our kids need to make up a healthy diet, she’s now published the Chickin Feed Primer: A useful companion for modern families.

There are so many lovely things about this book:

  • It includes nutrition info, but also encouragement to get moving and be creative (because as contributor Amy Handler says, “Imagination is a muscle.”)
  • It looks just like a composition notebook (you know the black and white marble ones), down to the binding and the lined pages. It’s adorable!
  • The cover tells us parenthetically (for use by chickins of all ages), and that is true. Whether you are trying to get yourself on a healthy regime, or if you are trying to convince your children to eat better and move more, this book will work for you.
  • The Recipes! There are great suggestions and recipes for each meal and the extremely-important-to-kids snack time(s) as well.

If you like to read about nutrition, and want to make some easy family-friendly changes, I highly recommend the Chickin Feed Primer. Check out the Tracking Board as well while you’re looking around the site.

We have FOUR copies to give away (U.S. shipping addresses only). If you’d like to win, leave a comment. The winner will be announced in next Monday’s column and is subject to our terms and conditions.

The winner of the Only True Genius in the Family is #6 Ellen Cunningham. You should have received an email from me, but if not send your shipping info to 5minutesforbooksATgmaildotcom.
