The start of a new school year can certainly keep a mom on her toes with new schedules to adapt to and lots to do. Putting routines in place can help minimize the stress from these changes and keep the whole family on track. For many families, afternoons filled with homework and extracurricular activities can be more hectic than busy school mornings. Do you need a little help establishing an after-school routine that will keep the whole family organized, as well as, allow you plenty of time to connect with your kids at the end of the day?
Hi, I’m Jennifer Dawn, a former educator turned homeschool parent, mother of three, blogger at thelifeofjenniferdawn.com, and contributor here at 5 Minutes for Mom.
Today I’m excited to share with you a simple printable that will help your family get into the habit of an efficient, after-school routine. Snack time is part of that routine, and I’m also sharing a fun and nutritional juice that your kids will look forward to enjoying after a long day of learning. This is a sponsored post, so we’d love it if you took the time to share!
Starting An After School Routine
A well-established routine can be a lifesaver for busy families! Having a routine in place gives kids a sense of security and consistency. It also lets them know the expectations for the day. And let’s face it! The unknown can be scary for kids and adults alike. We all like to know what’s coming next.
A routine lets kids know what to expect while still offering plenty of flexibility.
Snack Time
Kids seem to always come home from school hungry, so snack time is a perfect way to kick-off your after school routine.
Good nutrition is certainly a priority for me when I’m making food and beverage choices for my kids. I’m sure it’s a priority for you too. And that’s what makes the good2grow® juices a great option. The fruit juice blends and organic juicy waters from good2grow® have no added sugar, preservatives, or artificial ingredients. They contain real and simple ingredients that make them a healthy choice for snacks and lunches.
Let’s just take a minute to talk about the cute packaging! Did you notice all the fun characters? Yes! It’s your child’s favorite superheroes, princesses, and characters in a reusable and dishwasher-safe container.
The spill-proof packaging makes them a convenient, on-the-go option when we’re headed to soccer practice or dance lessons or just playing together at the park.
Family Time
Want to include family bonding time as part of your after-school routine? The good2grow® products can help with that part of the schedule too.
Use the cute, character packaging for a craft or recipe that will bring the whole family together for some fun after a long day of work and school.
Here are some great ideas to get you started…

Free Printable
The good2grow® juices are an excellent addition to the after-school routine, and so is this helpful printable. It’s a perfect way to keep track of the routine that works best for your family. You can even print off multiple copies to customize the schedule for each of your children.
Everyone prefers a different order to their routine, so this printable gives you the option to put the tasks you want to be included in any order that works for you and your kids. Make it portable by attaching the cards to a file folder or keep out a permanent display by placing them on a refrigerator or door. Simply print, cut apart, and put the cards to good use as you establish a routine for your kids during those busy hours after school.
Do you need some flexibility to the routine? Just shift the cards around into a new order. The kids will love working their way through all of the tasks, and you’ll love all the benefits that come from having an effective and time-efficient routine in place.
With this printable routine and the good2grow® products, you have the tools you need to make the after-school hours run smoothly. See?! You really are a supermom!

Despite these nice options, there are lots of people who will not be pleased
with the Firefly pay as you go phone.
This shows a great deal of potential for Chaturbate and it
provides its customers the potential to essentially decide the people who they want to meet with precision.
Your style is very unique in comparison to other folks I’ve
read stuff from. Thank you for posting when you have the opportunity, Guess I will just book mark this page.
I got this web page from my friend who shared with me regarding this site and at the moment this time I
am visiting this site and reading very informative posts at this time.
my neighbor, whom i am entering for, home-schools her kids, so she has very strong routines to separate school-time from home-time.
Our school routine is early to bed and early to rise. That leaves time in the morning to prepare for that day of school without rushing out the door unprepared.
Supper, homework, music
After school snacks, playtime, homework, dinner and relax before bed. Thanks for the fun giveaway 🙂

Studying with a snack!
Chores, homework, supper and relaxing time.
Well, I don’t have children of my own yet but I do help a lot with my nieces – they all partake in a lot of after school activities so it is generally very busy after school
Please leave us a comment telling us about your after school routine.
After picking up the kids and leaving them with their grandma I head home where the drinking starts. Hopefully one of my girlfriends comes over and we party until I pass out.
Once my wife gets off work she picks up the kids and we all have dinner together.
After school, I ask about her day, we plan for the next day, and the she participates in an educational activity while I start dinner.
My son will start school next year, but he’s only 4 now
We get the school work done and have dinner.
We take a look at the homework folder while she eats her after school snacks. Often times we’ll talk about how the day went and watch a little TV.
After school the kids do homework and chores, then Mommy gets home and we have dinner, spend a little time, then it’s bed time.
For us its homework and snack. Then chores dinner fun time and bedtime.
Homework, chores, dinner, T.V.!
There is usually and hour or so before dinner so this is their “free time” they can do what they want to and they are always starving to death so a little snack. Then after dinner, homework, showers a little TV or reading, whatever they want. A little snack then shortly after that it’s bedtime.
When my Chloe Pearl comes home I let her unwind for a bit on the tablet. After that it is homework time and then we have dinner as a family.
My kids are all grown but I would love this for my granddaughter who is not yet in school
We always have a healthy snack after school and then try and tackle the homework so the kids can have some play time and watch tv or play video games after dinner.
We eat lunch when she gets home as she is only in morning preschool.
We homeschool, our afternoon routine is chores and taking care of animals.
We are homeschoolers too mostly child led so we don’t have a clear end time. We have a bedtime routine at 7 but that’s about it.
Chores, homework, dinner and video games!
After school snack and outdoor play.
Snack & playing outside!
My son has half day kinder so we do playtime, relax time, homework, dinner, bath, teeth, story time, bed.
my son’s grandparents pick him up until we got off work to come get him
our after school routine is a quick snack and then we play outside for a while until dinner. we do any home work we have after dinner.
Ours is very hectic, lots of activities all over the place.
I meet my kiddos at the bus stop and once we get home we have snack and unwind time. After that homework!
after school is time to relax because we homeschool! when we are done with formal lessons, the kids have some outside time before snack. then they get some screen time.
The kids get a snack while they do their homework, they get to play while I make dinner and then a little more playing after dinner and then bed.
my son goes to the park to play
We homeschool. So, chores are the first things we do when we get up.
Snack playtime dinner and then homework~
I’m single mom of 2 beautiful trying to home school this year, no routine yet
After school my kids eat a snack and then complete any homework!
Just started school, need to make one!
We homeschool. But our after school routine isn’t much different from others. After school we have a snack and then it’s quiet reading time.
We have a snack first, then homework, and then play.
After school the kids usually go out and take care of the their animals. Thank you!
School just started so we don’t have one yet
Its usually a little to spent lingermg at the school playground then home for a snack before racing off to play with friends. Dinner, homework and showers happen later and some nights we all snuggle up to read.
I feel like school is already too long, so I try and give my kids free time and rest. We do homework after a snack and break, then focus on relaxing and eating dinner to gear up for the next day.
The first thing my kids do is get a snack and then homework before any t.v.
After school, snack, homework, dinner, shower, reading, Bed
Our routine is getting up every morning on time. Helping each other to prepare for the day! Plus completing all home work in the afternoon
We go home and grab a snack. We immediately do any homework so it isn’t forgotten. Thanks for the cute giveaway!
snacks, playtime, homework, dinner, play, bath time, brush teeth, prayers and bed!
Getting homework done.
I go wait for my children at the bus stop and then when we get home I make them a snack, in that process I go thru their folders to check for homework and progress reports. I let them go outside to play for a couple of hours and then I call them in for dinner and homework if they have any and then its a shower, brushing teeth, and then bed! If I dont keep this routine it throws my son off so I work hard to make it the same daily.
Our after school routine is a snack and homework before I start dinner.
After school routine varies day by day! Usually after getting home, we eat a snack, do homework & than my kids have gymnastics & soccer practice a few days a week.
snack and free time before dinner. They only have homework if they don’t finish something at school.
Our afterschool routine is a healthy snack, and then dinner, homework and family time!
Each day is different after school. Always making time for a snack and some outdoor activity.
Thanks for the chance.
after school routine is: empty bookbags, tell about their day.. go outside for a hour or so (or play inside) .. then eat dinner.. do any homework. then free time til bed! love back to school routines!
Our after school routine has changed a bit since this past spring. My third child was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I get home from work just in time to get them off the bus. Then my 9 year old gets his blood sugar checked and we either give insulin to lower or juice to raise. Then the boys have a snack and we do homework. If it is nice out we go for a walk or on the trampoline and then they beg me to watch youtube videos. lol I usually cook dinner while they are distracted by the computer
We do not have an after school routine at this moment as we homeschool so we do not have the need for one. But I love the tips, ideas shared here. Thanks so much.
The first thing my kids do is raid the fridge! Then they can do whatever they want until dinner. Then we eat, do homework and try to have some family time when possible.
I knoᴡ!? Said Lɑrry. ?I wager hee likes angels as
a result Ö…f he has them round all the time.
Perhɑⲣs he and the angeⅼs play һousehoⅼd video games likke we do sometimes.
Maybe they play Monopolу.? This made Mommy snicker actuаlly hard.
My son has snack, unwinds for an hour then does his homework
Ours is afterschool play time with the little brother, snack, more play, dinner, then homework, reading, tablet time and bed!
Our after school routine is dinner, cleaning up, homework, baths, and then bed.
We change, have a snack and then homework. After which play until dinner, then reading and maybe tv.
We make sure everything is ready the night before. That way, no one has to think. Lunches are made, school clothes laid out, book bag has everything in it.
My son has to start his homework right away, then we have dinner, he gets a shower and plays until bedtime.
Our after-school routine consists of coming home and getting a snack, then doing homework. The kids are then allowed to read or play on their iPad before going to bed. Thanks.
They do chores, play for a while and then do homework.
The after-school routine at our house is homework done before anything snack next than chores and than they can watch TV before dinner.
I give the kids their after school snack and then insist they do their homework now and then they have the rest of the evening to play outside with friends. I make dinner while they do the homework and we are good for the evening.
I have homework for two kids (1 with ADHD), supper, volleyball practice, chores, then hopefully have time to wind down before bed.
We start homework, work on dinner, piano practice and any other after school activities we need to get done.
Our afternoon routine consists of me picking up my daughter, bringing her home at which time she has snack and gets right on her homework. If it is done before dinner she gets freetime until dinner. After dinner its chores and freetime.
We don’t have much of a routine… homework if there is any and just generally winding down!
Our after school routine is snack time then homework and after that I allow her to play until dinner.
I know my great niece is going to kindergarten and my great nephew is only in Pre K this year. They each have daily responsibilities to do on a chart. These include brushing their teeth, making their beds and picking up their rooms. I know that being nice to each other and having good manners during meals is also on the chart 🙂
Our routine after school is I have a snack ready for them when they get home from school. They they do their homework while I cook dinner.
We are in need of a working, solid routine, but for the most part it ‘usually’ goes something like this:
Small Snack, about 30-60 minutes of free-time to play/watch TV/tablet-time, then we get started on homework, supper, followed by more homework, baths, & bedtime! Thanks & I love your printables!
My kids unwind with a snack, talk about their day and start homework.
We usually grab a bite and pickup anything they need the next day then we head home for homework and relaxation.
We do Homework and than baths and than game and tv time and than dinner and than relaxing time
We usually have a snack watch tv and relax,I love the cards
We always come home and get a snack first…then homework.
I usually had a snack and relax for 30 minutes.
It’s preschool, so it’s typically lunch, then a rest time, then family time! 😀
Studies, Dinner getting things ready for the next day
What a great printable. I find kids like some structure and routine to their day.
Usually snack and get his homework done.
My daughters love this juice as well. They love that there are so many different characters they can get. I really love this printable as well.
Those juice boxes are just adorable. The characters get me every time!
Those are so cute. I have seen these in the store. I need to get these for my kids.
Latchkey
I ususally have healthy snacks ready for the grandkids when they get home,,apples,,raisins,,bananas
This is so awesome! This would have made life so much easier for me when the kids were little. Actually, I think it probably still will.
Our afterschool routine usually starts out with finishing up homework and then eating dinner and hanging out together. I like that each kid has their own little bit of free time because they need it.
My kids know that as soon as they get home they get a snack and then do homework. Once hw is done, it’s free time until the bedtime routine starts up.
My kids go to aftercare so when I get out of work I pick them up and they usually have all their homework done! When we get home, they unpack their bags and are free to do whatever until dinner time!
Right now I do not have a routine but am in need of one. I like your printables.
Our after school routine includes a small snack followed by homework, playtime, dinner, TV time, brush teeth then bedtime.
My son likes to play outside after school with friends, have a snack and then we do homework after dinner.
It’s all about dinner prep, homework and then relaxing time and watching the tivo to catch up.
