Tuff Board Books, review and giveaway

In a category all their own, somewhere between traditional picture books and board books, comes a new line of Tuff Books from NorthSouth Books. Adapting cute picture books into a slightly shorter format for toddler readers, these books are also a little larger than most board books, and they feature laminated pages– perfect for wiping clean! Among the new releases are four adorable titles: Rainbow Fish and the Whale by Marcus Pfister, Two Little Chicks by Valeri Gorbachev, Owl Howl by Paul Friester and When Mama Can’t Sleep by Christa Kempter.

In Rainbow Fish and the Whale, the beloved sparkly-scaled fish has another adventure with his friends, this time involving a big whale and an even bigger misunderstanding. Rainbow Fish must find a way to talk to the whale to solve their problem. Friendship is also addressed in Two Little Chicks, when the title characters visit a very busy playground for the first time. Thankfully, although they are nervous about using the play equipment, they meet many helpful and encouraging new friends who help them get comfortable using the slide.

In another storyline completely understandable to a toddler, a tiny owl sobs uncontrollably in Owl Howl. Although many forest animals try to console her (or at least get her to stop crying for their own sake!), nothing helps until someone special shows up. And finally, When Mama Can’t Sleep tells the story of an entire family having trouble sleeping one night, each character for one reason or another. The way they decide to solve the problem will most likely be understood by many a mama and papa out there.

Do you have a little one who would enjoy the fun these four Tuff Books have to offer? We’ve got FIVE sets of all four of these books to give away!

Leave a comment here to be entered. We’re glad to let you know that it’s open to U.S. and Canada residents. We’ll announce the winners in this column here on March 14.

We have some winners to announce:

  • The winner of Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert is #9 RiTa
  • The winner of The Iron Queen and the two other books in the trilogy, plus an ipod Nano is #101 Shelaugh

My coder is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on a number of websites for about a year and am concerned about switching to another platform. I have heard very good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can import all my wordpress content into it? Any help would be really appreciated!
