When Janice and I were little girls our favorite toys were cars.

You might find it surprising that our all time top toys were Hot Wheels and our old 1970’s Fisher Price toy garage… and of course Lego which we used to make rockets, UFO’s and all sorts of crazy contraptions.

We were what you’d call “tomboys”. My favorite color was blue and I never wore dresses or even skirts.

Now I’m a mother with two little girls… and they are definitely NOT “tomboys”. They love all things pink! (But they still play with Hot Wheels.)

At the moment they’re absolutely in love with Shopkins. They also love to play all sorts of board games and card games.

I think most parents find that shopping for your own kids is usually rather easy and fun. But when you need to buy gifts for nieces and nephews that you don’t see all the time, it can be trickier.

Kmart has created a Fab 15 list featuring the hottest toys for the 2015 holiday season, which have been tested by Kmart’s first-ever Kid Toy Advisory Board – a select group of kids of Kmart employees who are serving as toy experts and holiday toy consultants.

The list reflects industry trends, input from parents and kids, and more than 50 years of experience in knowing what toys kids love to play with and find under their Christmas trees. It includes a few Kmart-exclusive toys and hot brands like Disney’s Frozen, Star Wars, LEGO®, Barbie™ and NERF®.

Our Favorite 4 of the Fab 15

All fifteen of these toys are truly fabulous and kids will love them all.

Here are four that especially stand out to me and would be perfect picks for my girls.

I think LEGO® must be the all-time best kids’ toy. While my girls love to play with the original style of Lego, they also think the new LEGO® Friends sets are great fun. I’m not surprised to see the LEGO® Friends Pop Star Show Stage make it on to the Fab 15 list.

Janice and I would have gone wild as little kids if we received this Hot Wheels® Ultimate Auto Garage by Mattel®. I think all kids could get lost in hours of play with this cool garage.

My girls continually make up stories and pretend play games pretending to be unicorns. I can say this FurReal Friends Star Lilly the Unicorn by Hasbro® would be a huge hit with both of them.

And who can resist a beautiful Barbie to grace the Christmas gift collection. I adore the red gown on the Holiday Auburn Barbie™ 2015 Doll by Mattel® (Kmart exclusive).

Get Done with a One-Stop Shop

Each year I buy a few gifts well ahead of time online, but it never fails that I’m too busy and the bulk of my shopping still gets left to the last minute.

And so instead of paying for rush shipping, I like to be able to go to one main store and get the rest of my shopping done all at once.

Kmart definitely wins for an all-in-one Christmas shopping destination. You can get EVERYTHING there!

I’m truly blown away by the huge selection of toys. And of course they have clothing, jewelry, electronics, appliances, tools and basically everything else you might want to wrap up and put under the tree.

It’s the perfect place for procrastinators and those who love the challenge of last minute Christmas shopping.
