Near the beautiful Victoria Harbour in BC Canada, there’s a new spot to stay where the cookies are warm, the beds are comfy, the rooms are huge and the views are magnificent.
It’s the new DoubleTree by Hilton in Victoria.
We were honoured to stay for a couple of nights during their grand opening week so that we could tell you all about it.
As you’d expect from the DoubleTree, this hotel is luxurious and perfect for any traveler.
But, it’s especially fabulous for families. Here’s why…
1. Central Location – Close to the Fun
There’s so much to do in downtown Victoria… especially along the Inner Harbour. And when you have kids, you really appreciate being walking distance to family friendly action.
We loved riding the Harbour Ferry Tour boats, visiting Fisherman’s Wharf, going Whale Watching and simply strolling along the streets listening to the street musicians.
2. Family-Sized Suites
When you’re traveling with kids, hotel rooms can be a problem. A typical hotel room isn’t usually big enough, but two rooms aren’t the right solution either.
The perfect hotel room for a family is a suite with bedroom doors that CLOSE and a kitchen area for before bed snacks and early morning breakfasts.
With a suite like this, kids can go to bed early while you enjoy a relaxing evening watching some TV. And when the kids wake up at 6 am, they can eat a little cereal before you head out as a family for a full breakfast.
3. Delicious Dining
There’s no need to go far for a tasty meal… The hotel’s restaurant is delightful.
We loved their buffet breakfast which offers everything you could possibly want to start your day. My girls were especially impressed that they got to make their own waffles.
And for a change, you can simply head downstairs to Bart’s English-Style Pub which has an awesome kid’s menu as well. (Kids just have to be finished dining by 9pm.)
4. Super Friendly and Helpful Staff
During our second day of the trip, my oldest daughter Julia said, “The people at the front desk of this hotel are soooo friendly!”
And she was right.
We were blown away by how helpful and welcoming the team of staff were during our entire stay.
Especially when you’re traveling with young kids, it’s so wonderful to be able to ask for tips and suggestions for the best spots around town.
(I was so busy chatting with everyone, that I forgot to take their pictures. So the photos above are borrowed from the DoubleTree Victoria’s Facebook Page.)
5. Greeted with a Cookie
Sometimes it’s the littlest things that make the biggest impact.
My girls were so excited to be welcomed by these delicious warm cookies upon our arrival. My youngest, Sophia, couldn’t stop talking about the cookies for the entire trip. (In fact, she’s still talking about how it was the best cookie she’s ever had.)
We truly had a fabulous vacation and fell in love with Victoria. My girls are already asking when we can go back.
