As we make our way through emails, assign reviews and design our Christmas Giveaway buttons, I start to feel the thrill of the Christmas Season.
It comes first in little sparks of excitement — picturing my kids squealing with Christmas morning delight, imagining feasting with family and friends till our stomachs are stuffed full, remembering closing my eyes and feeling the holiness of the Christmas music, and most of all, looking forward to a special season of thanking our Lord for all He has done.
Once again, we get the added thrill of helping send some extra love to families in need as we sprinkle some Christmas hope and joy out into the community with our second annual Under The Tree program here at 5 Minutes for Mom.
Under the Tree is about getting some of that Christmas magic (bloggy style!) right to some families who need it!
And here is how we do it — with your help of course. 🙂
We will choose several families to sponsor this Christmas.
The wonderful companies who are taking part in our Christmas Giveaway 2009 are donating items for our sponsored families.
So, in addition to providing prizes for our readers to win by commenting on the individual reviews, the companies participating in the Christmas Giveaway 2009 are providing presents to these selected families who are in need this Christmas.
We are so blessed to partner with such generous companies.
We know there is so much need out there, especially in these difficult economic times, but through Under the Tree, we hope we can share the spirit of Christmas and ease the burden from some families who just don’t know how they will be able to provide presents for their children this Christmas.
How you can help?
If you know a family who will not be able to provide presents for their children this Christmas, please nominate them in the comments below or send a private email to us at info(at)5minutesformom(dot)com. You can also nominate your own family.
Please leave personal information, such as last names, out of your nomination, but do include the number and ages of the children.
It’s going to be very tough narrowing the nominees down to just a few families. But due to the fact that we only have a limited number of gifts, we will have to make those hard decisions.
Since we do not want to disappoint anyone, please do not let the families know that you are nominating them. If we choose them, we will contact you to verify the details and then determine if the families want to accept the gifts.
Please note that we will also not post personal information about the families that we select. We’d like to keep it as private as possible.
We will do our best to match presents to children according to their age and gender, therefore the families we choose may be determined by the suitability of the gifts we have.
We will keep the nominations open until November 20th, 2009.
Please feel free to also post one of our Under The Tree buttons on your blog or site. Click here to get the button codes. We greatly appreciate you spreading the word and commenting here to show your support.
Your enthusiasm for Under the Tree and for the participating companies generosity helps pave the way for future projects!
THANK YOU for helping us transform these families’ holiday season into a time of blessing and excitement!

My name is Sonja and I am 23 years old. I live in Fairmont, North Carolina. I am a single mother of 3, one 6 year old boy and 2 daughters at the ages of 2 (birthday December 3) and 3. This year has not been so well. I have been without a vehicle and without a job. I get little help from the government. I want to nominate my family because I feel like my children deserve to have a good christmas. My son is 6 and he knows what christmas is all about and he wants so bad to be able to open up presents on this day. I just need a little help this year for them. I would like to see them happy. Every little bit helps and we will be so grateful if you choose our family. Thanks for caring.
just wondering.. says
will you announce when the families have been chosen??

After reading some of the above I feel bad asking for help for my family. We are a family of 6, kids ages boy 17, 3 girls’ ages 15, 12 and 9 and are struggling as well due to the economy. I recently went back to work because my husband lost hours w/ his construction job. I have been a stay at home mom for 8 years and now am thrown right back in. We are about to lose our home and are struggling just to keep it and our utilities up ( all being paid at shut off dates ). I’m afraid there won’t be a Christmas here at all. I have been trying to save up to do it, but just can’t. Thank you for your consideration and good luck and God Bless to all. Have a Merry Christmas and a Better New Year!

I would like to nominate my family. My husband and I have 3 wonderful kids boy 25, boy 20, and girl 17. I know they are the younger ones but they really haven’t had christmas in the past as well but we had maybe a little something and we live with my mother. Then this past july my husband lost his job and he has medical problems so we can’t find another job and we won’t be able to afford christmas this year. plus it’s my daughters senior year and I want to make this year special for my family because she will be heading off to college, hopefully if we have the money next fall. Please help us!

I want to nominate my family for this, I am a mother of 5 wonderful children, recently we lost everything we had due to domestic violence, we were able to flee with just the clothes we were wearing. We moved into a d.v. shelter out of town where we stood for 2 month as it was a 8 week program. Two of my kids had birthdays during this time and I could do nothing for them as I was not working. We finally moved back in town and lived in transitional shelters and with my daughter but that wasn’t working either. I finally found a job and got a place with my cousin and his room mate (as there is no way i can afford a place by myself @ this time) Things are going good my kids are finally in a stable home and going back to school. This christmas will be like many others because when we were with our abuser we weren’t allowed to have “fun†he would give my kids books and say “thats your presentâ€. So you see why I would really love for them to be nominated for this as they never really had a “christmasâ€. Please consider them for the under the tree program. thanks

I would like to nominate my Son’s family. He lost his job and is working very hard to find another. He’s filling out his background for one and won’t receive a check til well after Christmas. His son is almost 4 and this will be their first Christmas he can really remember. We are just now teaching him about Santa Clause and he’s very excited about leaving cookies and getting presents. He just wrote Santa his first letter at Macy’s. I know it would mean a whole lot to their whole family.
Sincerely,
Kristina

Greetings,I’d like to nominate my 4 children Ron 15, Shawna 14, Jordan 10 and Christopher is 8. I’m a single mom out of work for the past 3 months and the reality is that I will not be able to provide any gifts for them this year, I ran across this wonderful program while doing a google search and decided to set my pride aside and ask for help. It’s not easy telling your kids mom just doesn’t have the money this year and I have been blessed with children that understand, although you could see it in their face of disappointment. I had to tell my two youngest Santa wasn’t real so they would understand Christmas morning, it’s just been real heart breaking as a Mom. I was unsure about putting our Christmas tree up or not this year, but decided to go ahead anyway to celebrate the birth of Christ. we are lucky to have a roof over our heads and food, but as a child I’m sure they look forward to gifts as we all did as children. It seems a lot of Families are in need not just mine so I will remain humble and God bless everyone through their situations, Happy Holidays.

Hi! I am a pastor’s wife from northern Iowa. I would like to nominate a single mom, who recently moved to our community. She has six children still at home. They range from 18 to 8. Her 13 year old daughter Molly is special needs. Molly cannot walk and wears diapers. You never hear Molly’s mom complain. She just keeps spreading “SON”shine wherever she goes. They have very little and need help this Christmas.

I would like to nominate my sister, her husband and 4 daughters for Under the Tree 2009 giveaway. A little over a year ago, my sister was bitten by a brown recluse spider which resulted in her being on her back for 5mths, she developed the flesh eating skin disease, went thru 3 surgeries and it all has compromised her immune system. She had gotten pregnant after all of this with a boy, they were so excited to finally add a boy to their family, when on her birthday March 30 of 09 she lost her her baby, it’s believed that her recent illness from the spider bite may have caused this. She suffers all of the time, sores don’t heal and if she gets sick it’s not over in a few days. But yet she carries on with the scar in tow and her head held high. This past Sept 26th, a young man huffing computer duster crashed into my sister’s and husband’s business causing their only income to be gone. The young man had minimum insurance that he could, which has resulted in them still trying to get their business back going to this date. They have no Christmas tree or presents for their 4 girls. Her husband has been doing what he can working out of his mother’s business to keep a roof over their head and heat in their home. This year all the children are old enough to understand the whole Santa Claus, they are so excited and my sister just breaks down for the fact she can’t do anything for them. I do have to admit for halloween my sister went above and beyond, made her own halloween decorations, the children’s costumes and had her daughters 4th Halloween birthday party. They never give up, no matter what the circumstances are. She always keep her faith to God. Her favorite saying has become slow motion is better than no motion. She has taught me no matter how bad the storm the sun will always come out and to give all you can to others because the world can only be a better place if people make themselves better. This family stays involved with the community, fosters for the humane society and also whatever moneys her husband has brought home they have shared with another family who is just bad off. I am so thankful to be able to call them my family. They make me proud.

I would like to thank you for giving families in need a chance to have a merrier Christmas. I am contacting you to nominate my children, 3 boys age 3, 7, & 12. We have had a rough time this year. My husband lost his job a year ago and has been unable to find another. I had been a stay-at-home mom by choice with the intent that I would return to work when the boys were all in school, until a medical condition drastically changed my ability to work. I require a minimum of 2 blood transfusions a year because of this condition. My spirit is willing; my body has other plans. Any savings we had has long since been depleted. It is a struggle to meet bills, pay for diapers, food, clothes, and other necessities. I never dreamed the day would come when paper towels were a luxury item. While we have never been wealthy by anyone’s standards, we managed and were able to provide at least a little something for them at Christmas.
It does not look any better for the immediate future either. Few to no jobs in the area, even seasonal ones have heavy competition. Both my older boys are struggling in school and are being evaluated for Attention Deficit Disorder. I need to go into the hospital for another transfusion and our unemployment just ran out. Maybe we will qualify for an extension, we are waiting to hear back. My Mother, the boy’s only surviving grandparent, is on disability and cannot help us. We just found out yesterday she has a ‘precancerous’ condition and a biopsy was done, we are waiting to hear the results.
We have contacted local organizations and have not heard back. We were told we would hear by Dec. 1st if we were chosen. This does not surprise me as our area was very economically depressed before the recession. It breaks my heart to think of the disappointment I will see on Christmas morning, especially my seven year old. He has such faith in Santa that I just do not have the heart to tell him the truth. He sees commercials, ads etc… and of course wants some of the items. I told him Santa does not have a lot of money this year and he asks, “Why can’t the elves make it?†We were watching A Dog Named Christmas on TV Sunday and I just cried. My seven yr. old looks to me and asks why I am crying. I told him it was because the family was having a beautiful Christmas. He replied, “ Don’t worry Momma, we will too. Santa will come.†The truth is I was crying because I watched them wrapping gifts and preparing a big Christmas get together like I remember from my childhood and am hurting that I can’t give that to my kids. They deserve so much. My oldest tells me it’s OK he understands, but I know he is disappointed. Honestly, they have had a lot of disappointment this year and if you are able to help out it would be appreciated.
Again, thank you for what you are doing. Your kindness in even giving people a chance is an example to all. In the future I hope we will be in a position to help those who are in need.

I would like to nominate my family. My husband and I have 3 children ages 2 months, 6 and 12. My husband had a severe injury to his hand a few years ago which crushed all his bones and severed the artery in his hand. He has gone through many surgeries but will never regain function in his right hand. He has been unable to work due to the injury. I have been the sole supporter of our family of 5. I just came off of pregnancy leave and don’t have very much money. I am barely maintaining all of our bills let alone food. I just recently hurt my back and could not work. I am back at work but in severe pain. I would love if my girls could have some kind of christmas this year. I can not afford to buy them gifts this year. Also my 2 older girls birthdays are in December also. My 6 year olds birthday is December 26th and my 12 year olds birthday is December 4th. My girls realize that Christmas is not about the gifts, it’s about Jesus but it would still be nice that they have something to open Christmas morning. If you could help in anyway my family and I would grately appreciate it. God bless you.
Laquette says
My name is Laquette and I am nominating my family for the Christmas Giveaway 2009. I have 3 children-Selena 4, Jaylen 5, and Dominic 9. Jaylen has a learning /Behavior/Speech Dissability. Jaylen, Dominic, and I all suffer from severe Asthma. I also suffer from Bilateral Bursitis of my hips, which causes severe leg, knee, and hip pains. Due to my illnesses it is hard for me to keep a job, especially during cold months because I tend to get very ill and unable to go to work. I recently had to quit my job because of illness and lack of childcare for my children because their daycare closed unexpectedly. I do have a part-time job as a home health aide, but I onlwork 15 hours a week at a rate of $9.10/hr. This income is hardly enough to pay my $595 rent each month and still be able to pay utilities, and buy the children clothes and shoes. Because of thiS, i am currently a month behind in my rent and I am struggling to keep all of my bills paid. It would be greatly appreciated if my family was chosen for the giveaway this year.

I would like to nominate someone very close to me. This friend has two children, she has just recently gotten married, and last month her husband was laid off of work. Although he is looking for work, he has not found anything yet. She works very hard, for very little money, and they are struggling and can barely pay their bills. The children are ages 3 and 4. Children at that age should never have to wake up on Christmas morning without gifts to open. I wish I could help them myself, but I am unable to do much.

Thank you for making a difference for family’s trying to make their children happy. It is so wonderful seeing your children smile. Right now our family needs more smiles and more laughs. We try to stay upbeat, positive and support our community which we love. However the recession has hurt our family harder then I expected. Our family has had allot of tough times. We went through real estate fraud, a robbery and my husband lost his business due to the robbery. Our family has lost everything our house, all our personal items (including family photos), all of our daughters toys, and our business due to our whole house being Robbed. No insurance payout because we were not living at the house when the robbery occurred. WE SURVIVED! WE WILL SURVIVE! We just have to forgive and move on.
Then we tried to start over! It has been hard. Finding a full time job with the recession is a challenge however we have not given up. Our family moved about 14 months ago. It was after we went through real estate fraud and a robbery. My daughters lost everything just like we did. We moved here with nothing and thought that starting over would be easier then it has. We have struggled finding full time employment during this recession. The housing is so much less expensive now. We are saving so much however we have to find a full time employment. The number one item that our family has done the past year is cut all expenses. Our truck was repo about a year ago. We bought a older car however that was a poor decision. The car has caused our family more stress in the past 6 months. After repairing a transmission, ball joints, tire rods, tires, sensors. The car will not pass inspection and we are broken. My husband is a substitute bus driver with the Schools (part-time). When he was looking at the position it was going to be full time however due to the budget freeze the schools have right now his position is only part time. He has not stopped looking for work. He is a great Father. He volunteers with the Red Cross and is doing his best. I volunteer with the Salvation Army. We would volunteer more if our car was not illegal. Our family has one car and it still will not pass inspection. Our registration was due in October 2009. Due to the check engine light being on it will not pass inspection . We have been advise that it has to due with our AC not working. Honestly our family has gone without AC for the last year it is something that we can live without. We had no idea that it would cause us to fail our inspection. Now Armon has to drive to work in a car that is not inspected nor registered. If he gets pulled over he would lose his job, he might be ticketed, or arrested and the car might be impounded. We don’t need “things” we need to be together for the holidays. We have to use every penny to get our car repaired.
I can’t pay the bills with the small amount of money that we have coming in. My oldest daughter almost 7 years old was bringing in toys to school to give to other kids and I asked her why she was doing this. She stated to me’ “because I don’t need it”. When our house was robbed I told her that someone must had needed the stuff more then our family and as long as we have each other we will be happy. I was trying to forgive, move on in a positive way. My statements have effected her and I believe that regardless of what happens with gifts that our family will still have a Merry Christmas. Toys is a wish not a need in family we have learned that material things is just things. My wish is for my daughters to not forget in the magic of Christmas therefore we are just asking for a little help. I would love for you to send my 2 beautiful Daughters some good luck. My children are very important and they keep me going on days that I just have a hard time finding the fight and drive. My daughters have been through more in their life they most people.
Our neighbor had to go to work and her day care was closed today. We had a pay date with her children. Her kids asked do you have any toys or video games (repeatedly)? It was hard but my girls would say we have board games. I was so proud of our girls! They will be great people and give back to the community. We have been through hard times to learn that most people don’t have a way out. We always thought that state and government help people in troubling times. We learned that they don’t help everyone. People help People. Thank you for helping others. If you lose your fight you won’t make it. You have made a difference more then you think. Thank you so much for keeping the drive to survive. Just like the saying during Christmas you have to “BELIEVE” Believe in something larger then yourself. Believe in regardless of what happens with gifts (stuff that is all it is) YOU WILL still have a Merry Christmas as long as you have each other. If you can’t buy you child that special gift this year take my daughters advice “I don’t need it”. FAMILY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. You can’t replace people but you can always replace things. I wish everyone Happy Holidays! I believe that regardless of what happens with our family will still will have a Merry Christmas. I hope that your Family will have a Merry Christmas too and find the meaning of Christmas. It is not presents!
Thank you and Happy Holidays…

I would like to ask that Under the tree helps my family who have lost everything. We went through Real Estate Fraud, Robbery, lost our business due to Robbery, lost house due to Real Estate Fraud, and even 2 daughters lost their toys from the robbery. Now the recession has caused unemployement during a time that we are trying to start over and already have nothing. Right now we drive a car that can not be inspected nor registered with the town or state. The car repairs are too much for us to handle so we have no choice but to drive illegal to the part time job. We survived the Real Estate fraud and the Robbery. We have to survive the recession. Thanks for listening.

I’m having hard times and I don’t want them to suffer because of it. They’ve been through alot and I want them to enjoy themselves for once. They have been troopers from the beginning and I want them to know that they are appreciated. I’ve tried to find ways to give them a great Christmas but I haven’t had and success. I would like to nominate my family this year, I have 5 children boy 20, boy 17, girl 14, boy 11, boy 10. I have a carreer in trucking transportation, and I made the mistake of starting my own business in 2007, wich led to me loosing my home, and having to close the business. Moving into my moms 3 bedroom trailor in march of 2008 has been devistating for all of us. I was on unemployment with looking for work, now it has ended, im depending in child support, and it comes sometimes. So Im really worried about Christmas this year, sitting hear on Black friday, feeling down not being able to join the rest of the world to shop for there family. If there is an angel out there that could help us, that would be a blessing…Im looking for a miracle!

I would like to nominate Angela and her daughter Taniya. They are caring for 3 small children whose mother is hardly ever around. Taniya is 18 and a college student. The kids’ are a 4 year old boy, 3 year old girl, and a 18 month old boy. Angela is on disability and works as the apartmen t manager at her complex to get rent reduction. I know they go to food pantries quite a bit for food. Angela does not ask for alot of help because she believes there are people in the world that are worse off than her and her family. I am proud to say I know this woman because she is strong and determined.
Thanks,
Christine

I would like to nominate my daughter and her 2 daughters for the holidays, Sandi is a 20 year old single mom with 2 beautiful daughters, ages 11 months and then 27 months. She has gone through post pardom, almost lost her life, and pulled through it, and I just want them to know that they are not alone in this world, and that people care. I am unemployed right now so I cant make their dreams come true, but I know that without trying then there would be no chance for them through this program.
Thank you a very worried Mema, wanting a wonderful Christmas for 3 people I love.

I am nominating a single mother with teenagers as she does not get any assistance from their father. Her dad was diagnosed with brain cancer this year and she has been taking care of her 2 teenagers, her dad and mom. She has just been given a pay cut, had a cell phone with her position in which was taken from her. She has had to get one on her own. The home she was renting is being sold and she has had to move. Her boyfriend has been kind enough to take her and her children in but is struggling himself as his mother has bone cancer. It has been tough for both of them yet they keep on going and smiling. Its been amazing watching both of them smile with all they have been thru this year alone. She is struggling terribly to even provide the essentials for her family. She could use help for her family 17 yr old daughter, her 16 yr old son, 13 yr old step-son. The only things the family has said is if anyone wanted to help they waned things they needed, including the children. Clothes, shampoo etc. Gift cards for groceries. They are a very loving and hard working family that amazings everyone at their courage and strength. They will work wonders together I am sure. I am including her email address as I do not want them to know who nominated them.

I would like to nominate my sister. She is the 31 year old single mother of a beautiful 9 year old girl.Last October she was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. At the time of the diagnosis, she was unemployed and going back to school for nursing. Since being diagnosed, she has had a bilateral mastectomy, chemotherapy (she lost all of her long beautiful hair), and 36 rounds of radiation. The only thing keeping her alive at this point is her daughter. She is too proud to seek out help on her own, but I am sure that it would be greatly appreciated. She can no longer work (and had to hire attorneys to get Social Security) but that does not stop her from volunteering her time, if her health allows her to. Several days a week, she is at her daughter’s school. She is the PTA Secretary. She is always trying to help out others. It would be great if you considered my sister and niece for this!

I would like to nominate my family. I have 3 children. A 16 year old, a 5 year old, and a 8 week old. I am not able to provide Christmas to my children this year. I was taken off of work for 5 months due to difficulties with my pregnancy and my husband is unable to work due to a 25% loss of his lung usage from going through chemotherapy. I would appreciate any help that you could give my family.

I would like to nominate a family of 5 – mom, dad, a 15 year old son, a 4.5 year old daughter, and an almost-2 year old son.
Dad has been out of work since April, doing odd jobs and desperately trying to hold things together. He recently got a full-time job again, but the pay is still well below the poverty line for a family of 5.
They had to leave the house they lived in as a perk of Dad’s old job, so now they are living in their travel trailer (RV), by the grace of a church who lets them park in the back. Five people living in about 200 square feet!
Both younger kids have severe allergies and chronic health issues, so everyone is stressed in the extreme, and not feeling much in he way of holiday cheer.
Mom still teaches the kids’ “Mission Friends” class at church on Wednesday nights, and everyone pitches in to give to others. I’d like to see their kids on the receiving end! 🙂
Thank you ladies, and the generous sponsoring companies, for this effort. It is sure to bring joy to a bunch of children!!

I would like to take the time to nominate my mom and stepdad. My stepdad was just recently diagnosed with Brain Cancer. It started out with him just having seizures. So, my mom quit her job then so she could transport him to and from work. Because he could know longer drive. She has always been a hard worker and has lived a very hard life. Anyhow, they later found that my stepdad had a brain tumor, which was successfully removed in 2008. Well then again in August of this year, it came back milignant. He is now taking radiation and chemo. He has two kids that are very young that they keep most of the time. Also, they just received temp. custody of their 4 month old grandson. With all that being said, my stepdad had no other choice but to quit his job as well. They have no income whatsoever. Besides the fact that they have been forced to sign up for states assistants. With the help of their brothers and sisters at church they have been able to survive but its been a real struggle. And I know that they are devasted that they can’t provide presents for their children and grandchildren but we are just thankful to have him her on earth with us. But with all that they have been through this last few months, I would love to see them have a great Christmas. I have tried to help in everyway possible but its really hard for me as well, because I have two little ones to take care of but any extra money I have I try to help them out. We are still haveing a Christmas dinner there this year and I can’t wait for the family to be together. That’s all that matters! I love them dearly!

I would like to nominate a refugee family from Liberia. They are a hardworking family that currently resides on a farm with their grandfather. There are 11 children (7 girls and 4 boys) ranging from the ages of 9- 18yrs old. The children are all in school and have managed to remain successful academically, and happy spiritually despite their past encounters with war, bloodshed, and sorrow after spending four years of their lives hiding from a civil war. Through the eyes of others they may not seem to have much; however, I have noticed them thrive through the love and support they show each other, and they continue to remain thankful. For once, particularly this year, I would love for them to experience the joy of Christmas. I know they will never be able to let go of their past, but I do believe celebrating Christmas under a new light would be a happy memorable moment in their lives. One they can cherish and enjoy amongst themselves before the arrival of the New Year.
This is a unique and striving family that has never looked to receive as much as they have given in life. Please consider this deserving family. God bless.

hello I am nominating a family of five. we have been married for fifteen years have a daughter 14, two sons aged 12, 10 we have been having struggle since 07 when my husband was laid off with the housing fall out Life has not been the same since. we can barely afford our rent are going to claim bankrupty and are getting ready to have our only car reposessed. I go to school full time and am almost ready to graduate dec 8 from the first part of the as degree for ems. we have had many struggles as our daughter had been struggling from anorexia w/bulimic trait for two years however no one knew. we spent week after week of his checks to get back in forth to All Childrens hospital because she had problems with her heart and lungs. The anorexia was causing her to have grand mal seizures and the hospital staff worked so hard to try and find her a cure for nine months….only to find out shes been battling this horrible disease. we were in shock and falling into shambles for all this money and time were spent when it was actually something rite in front of our face. we are great parents and would do anything for our kids and others. To make points to the families I have even booked us to volunteer at a soup kitchen so the children could learn what it truly is to have nothing. I have done things like take them to the food ministries and we bagged up food for needy, we have volunteered and done many other great things meanwhile we are currently recieving public assistance. our daughter is currently working on a real campaign for real beauty through dove empowering young girls to speak and teach young girls about loving themselves for them. The children have been academic achievers and are really great kids..This is a really great family and a very deserving family. Please consider us.

Hello, this is really hard for me to say, but Christmas is getting very close, and unless we have a miracle I won’t be able to provide Chrismast for my kids this year. I have 3 children. The 2 oldest are boys, Riley is 6 and Jackson is 2. I had a baby girl on 9/17 of this year. My husband and the father of my children walked out on us in May. He has been ordered to pay child support and refuses. I work full time, but barely make enough money to cover our house payment, car payment, utility bills, buy diapers, and put food on the table. To top all of that off I barely have any time to spend with my kids. I love my kids and it breaks my heart that my 6 year old will realize if Santa doesn’t come this year. The 2 youngest won’t know. Even though I know I’m doing the best I can I still feel like a failure. I would be so appreciative if you could put a few gifts under our tree this year. Thank you.

My church is “adopting” a needy family this Christmas. A mom of four has recently broken away from an abusive husband and was also able to get her children back from him. There is a six-year-old girl, a boy about 10 and two other teens (I’m not sure of their genders but could find out from our priest). When she first got her younger two away, the father burned all their clothes. I know she is struggling through this difficult time. Our church is gathering food for them, but they would also love to have gifts under the tree.

Wow – so many stories. So very sad. I’d like to add ours to your list.
My husband is one of the hardest working men I know. He has such great integrity and work ethics. He goes without and never puts himself first in any way. He helps out and volunteers to help others throughout our church and the community. He is generous with his time and his love.
Over the past 2 years we have suffered financially because of the economy. My husband lost his job, lost several thousands of dollars owed by his company/partner, was out of work for months and months with zero income (not due to lack of trying for sure). In fact, it is humiliating to be rejected and overlooked so many times. He is either over-qualified or under-educated (didn’t get his college degree) and I have seen him really take a hit to the ego these past 2 years.
He found work, thankfully, but he can’t get full-time hours and we have used up all our savings and we are living on less than a third of our income. For the first time in our 27 years together, we are at a point when we have no money in the bank and I have no idea how we will make our bills next month. That is such a scary place to be.
I know it is killing my husband that we will not be able to give our kids a Christmas this year. We have two boys, a 15 yr old & an 8 yr old. While we are teaching them to be thankful for the food we have and a roof over our head (for the moment), at the same time of course they will be disappointed not to have any presents this year. Being chosen as one of your families would be my gift to my husband so he doesn’t feel like he is failing his boys.
I know you have many families. I can’t imagine how you will choose. I am sure whoever you choose will be the right ones and be blessed by it. Thanks for doing this and for helping make a difference in people’s lives.

I would like to nominate a close friend of mine name wanda and her children. She is single mother of 2 kids, a 1 yr old boy and a 6 yr old girl. They are 2 very beautiful kids Wanda has been thru so much in the past 3 years, she’d been from house to house trying to find something she could afford so that she could afford to buy her kids what they need thru out the year and for christmas, but that never works out for her. because of course she has to pay her rent and bills before anything, she just recently moved again in October and with the little bit of money she brings home she make sure she does her best with taking care of the house needs and making sure her kids have roof over their heads. She recently just got her job back after having her last baby. She only works a minimum wage job, so of course it only covers the basics every month needs, when it comes to the house there are times that she doesn’t have enough for that. It has gotten so bad that she has not been able to to buy any cloths for herself, she been wearing the same sneakers for past 2 yrs and that is because someone gave it to her. Don’t get me wrong she is the kind of mother that would make sure her kids get what they need not what they want, before she take care of herself, which is all the time, and times like this she has to make a choice whether she pays all her bills or just half of them. I’m with her and her kids all the time and i know that she is stressing because of the holidays with her budget i know she would not be able to celebrate this christmas. All she wants is to do is give her children a nice christmas this year. Maybe her baby won’t understand the difference but her 6 yr old does. All she does is talk to her mom about christmas all year round, telling her what she wants and her mother tells her she will see what she can do, and of course she can’t afford it. The reason why it is so hard on her is because her birthday is on christmas and it makes it more difficult on her. Her daughter exspect so much more from her mom because of what she see other family going thru, and for a 6 year old she only understand so much. Wanda cry’s and pray every day and night that something good would change with her financial problems. There are times when she would put extra hours in just so she would be able to buy her son some diapers and wipes. If those hrs ain’t available she struggles to borrow money just to make ends meet. I would love to do so much but I too lost my job and i have a 5 yr old little girl, so i know what she is going thru. Besides i love her and her kids and want the best for them, the reason i want her to enjoy her holiday this year with her kids is because she does help me out alot and others when it coming toward food, that is one thing that she knows and would not denie to anyone. She would make a couple of plates and hand them out to everyone she knows in the streets, that is just the type of heart she has. So in return all i want is to see her happy this christmas and all out thru the year, just by watching her watch her children enjoy their holidays. So if you could help me make her children christmas dreams come true, I would be so appreciated and thankful.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerly,
Crystal

Hey I would like to nominate my Mother. She had 3 kids of her own, we are all grown now. Ever since I can remember she has always taken care of other peoples kids as well. The only child still at home now is 10. My mom adopted him because his mom was not able to take care of him. He had been through a whole lot prior to coming to live with my parents. They have done such a good job raising not only their kids but others as well and they are still doing it. My dad is out of work and they are just living of my moms income. I know that financialy they have had a really rough year and are barely getting by. I really think that if they were able to get presents for him on christmas that it would really make the holidays special.
thank you

Feeling selfish at the moment, I would like to nominate my own family. Almost 5 years ago I was transferred with my job to a rural area where I had no family/friends outside my own. I continued to work for that company (being promoted 3 times and getting 3 raises in my last year) until the management changed. Being in the medical field comes with many trials and great satisfaction. I was upset about the lack of proper sterilization and all the serious cross contamination that had been going on within the entire dental practice. Having contracts with AIDS/HIV organizations and seeing multiple patients with various serious communicable diseases everyday, I was making sure that we were providing the best care possible and refused to accept the fact that eventually we were going to transfer AIDS or something else to one of ourselves or another patient. Unfortunately, this also ended my career with the company I had been with for many years. They didn’t feel it was that big of a deal (it was a very big deal, they chose to close their eyes to) and didn’t want to fix it, making their profit margins look good was more important and I became a threat. I was fired and have now been unemployed for over a year (the longest I have been unemployed since I was 15, I’m now 32)due to a serious lack of employment here. I was denied my unemployment recently because I took a job over the summer as a server which ended up costing me $100 more a week than I made after childcare costs for nights, weekends and holidays. According to the government, that wasn’t a good enough reason to quit.
My fiance is in his 3rd year of college and working full time doing what he can just to get us by. In his spare time he volunteers his time to coach little league football.
We have 4 beautiful children 13 & 12 year old boys, 6 & 4 year old girls. We are barely paying our bills and have been robbing Peter to pay Paul. I have yet to find another job and we are quickly sinking. I never knew that standing up and doing the right thing, protecting patients and their health would have landed me in such a serious position financially; however if I had to do it all over again, I would. I would just remember to keep evidence for legal litigation so that the issues would be corrected. Doctors and staff are there to help people, sadly other factors play a serious role and it seems doing what is right is not so important to everyone.
As if that wasn’t enough it gets worse. Three weeks ago I had to give my car back to the bank and last week our remaining car threw a rod in the engine and is still sitting in a parking lot because we can’t afford to have it towed not to mention fixed.
Last year we slid by pulling Christmas out of nowhere and this year nowhere isn’t even in sight.
My children would be greatly appreciative as would we. I thought I would put in our entry, just in case. Reading others entries I know there are people out there who deserve it just as much if not more than we do and it hurts me to put my entry in against theirs, but sadly, it’s not really a choice at this point.
Thank you greatly for your time.

I was going to nominate my own family because I am on disability for MS, My husband got laid off from his job 3 months ago. The hardest was that his Insurance is what paid for my medications.. eSPECIALLY THE PAIN MEDS.
We only have one child left at home. She is 14 and is last one to leave the nest. I just wanted to make sure she had something. But after reading these others that is much worse off than us.

I would like to nominate my sister’s family. She and her husband have 2 children. They have a 5 year old girl and a 16 month old boy. In 2007 she and her husband had to bury a baby boy that was born too early and didnt make it. Shortly after they got pregnant with their son. My sister was put on full bed rest for her entire pregnancy and because of that she had to quit her job at the hospital. She ended up having their son 4 weeks early and ever since she delivered she has had heart problems and has had to be on heart meds. Their son also has medical problems, he has a disorder called CCAM which means he has cysts on his lungs. My sister has been unable to return to work because of all of this. In December of last year her husband was laid off and they ended up loosing their house and cars. They moved to a bigger city in hopes of finding work. Her husband ended up going back to school and up until this past month was unable to find somewhat decent employment that would work around his school schedule. Due to the lack in work and income they got way to far behind in bills that I know from talking to my sister , they arent going to be able to have a christmas this year for the kids. I myself am a college student and I will be able to send the kids at least one present each but nothing too big maybe a Barbie and a toy truck but that will be stretching it for me. My family usually gets together for the holidays but this year I dont think it will happen for my sister and her family. Not only are they struggling but my parents are the closest family and they live 10 hours away from my sister and with my sister not having a car they wont be able to come for Christmas either. My parents would help but my moms a teacher and my dad is a retired minister with numerous health problems and they just dont have the resources to help either. Her husbands parents have both passed away so there will be no help from his side either. I talked to my sister and her daughter the other day and her daughter was so excited talking about what her friends are going to ask Santa for and what she will be asking for as well and how she cant wait to sing songs with grandma and grandpa again this year, then when I talked to my sister she started crying and said that it is going to break her little girls heart when she realizes that Santa wont make it this year and she wont get to see grandma and grandpa for Christmas either. My sister and her husband are very good people , they take care of their family the best they can in these hard times. I hope that by some miracle there will be a Christmas for their family this year and that my niece wont loose her faith in Santa this year because of the way things are for their family this year. I would like to nominate my family. I have a 12yr old daughter, a 2yr old son, and a 2 month old baby girl. My baby girl was born Aug 31st and was diagnosed with an heart deffect(Transposition of Great Vessels). She had open heart surgery when she was 8 days old. she also had a stomach surgery at 1 month old and now is fed by a feeding tube. She was admitted into All Childrens Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fl which is 7 hours away from our home. She stayed in the hospital from the time of birth untill 3wks ago (about 1 1/2 months). I am currently out of work with no pay due to her condition. My husband is trying to keep up the bills, but we have fallen behind on everything. We dont have enough money to pay our bills, and really dont have any to spend on Christmas. God has blessed my husband and I with our baby girl making it through surgery. Giving my kids a wonderful Christmas would be a blessing.

I would like to nominate my own family. My husband has been layed off from his job since February of 2009. Due to his job cut, we will not be able to afford Christmas this year to our 2 children which is Cameron 10 years old and Sierra who is turning 7 years old in a couple of weeks. We do not draw much income at all, for it is only enough to barely pay our bills. I sit and cry every single day wondering how in the world am I going to give my kids a good Christmas. They both are too young to understand that daddy has lost his job and we cannot afford to buy anything. I hope you can help me and ease the burden off my shoulders of my children having a wonderful Christmas this year.
Thanks!!!

I would like to Nominate My 16 yr old daughter Nelly Alvarado. She has gone through so much this whole year. She is a single mother of a little angel name Lazette Beya, which just turned 1 year old this past Nov 7th. Her baby was premature and her baby’s left side of the brain didn’t get to develop, was in the hospital for almost 2 months, finally got to go home, but one week later back in January she was back in the hospital for another month,in which we almost lost Lazette, her baby’s condition has been very stressful and difficult. I pray to God to give my first grandbaby the opportunity to be with us for a long time, But only God Knows the answer. I would really be thankful if we might be able to put a smile to my daughters face making this X-mas very special since Last year Lazette wasn’t home for her first Christmas, She was at the hospital .
God Bless all children/specially the ones with special needs.

I would like to Nominate My Daughter Ciara Carter , if anyone deserves a nice christmas its my Baby because she is only 15yrs. old and she was very close to her Daddy Robert, she recently lost her father to thyroid cancer August 9th 2009. Ciara is my Hero, she was my little soldier helping me fight for her fathers life, she dealt with depression, heartache, sorrow, lack of support from his family, and alot of pain.My baby helped me take good care of her Daddy, she fed, bathed, cooked, and cleaned for him,she also played games, and read to him and watched their favortie movies with him and never complained. He went from 190lbs.to 80lbs.it was very difficult for her to have to watch me give her father CPR right in front of her and she saw him die, I feel bad that I could’nt save him, I Loved my husband of 17yrs. very much but that was the most diifficult thing that I ever had to do in my entire life. Please choose my daughter to have a nice christmas. I had to quit my job in order to take care of her father for 2.5yrs and we are struggling. I dont want anything, but if you could give her a nice christmas I would be very happy . Angela Carter

I would like to nominate my family for the 2009 Christmas giveaway. I am a single mother of 3 with one the way ( a girl due to arrive on 12/23/2008).I have been trying for the last 2 years to get a steady job, but I keep getting laid off. It would not be so bad if my daughter who is only 16 did not have MS. This will be my 1 yr. old first real christmas and I would love for him to have at least one gift under the tree to open. My other daughter is 14 and would be satisfied ,just as I, if my 1 yr. old boy had something. I continue to pray for miracle of everyone in MI to make it thru this recession.
-God Bless Us ALL.

My heart aches for all the families in need this year. I wish I wasn’t one of the people asking for help. It’s hard but for my kids sake I have to put my pride aside. I’m not one to ever ask for help, but I don’t know if Santa will even have enough $ to keep the lights on let alone have presents! Our house is in foreclosure, our truck got repo’d,and I never thought I’ld say this but thank God for foodstamps!
We have 8 children (9mo, 2,4,6,8,9,11,& 13). My husband has owned a tile installation business for 14 yrs. We’ve always had ups and downs but since ’08 it never got back up. He’s applied to several different co’s just trying to get work but with no success. Doing tile for so many years has ruined his knees. Somehow he keeps going but with so much pain I don’t know how much longer he can go without surgery. God has provided in mysterious ways. He has supplied our needs over the years and I know we couldn’t have survived without our faith in Him. When things get better for us and I know they will, I will never forget what it feels like to be the one in need, and how grateful I am to those that have given to us!

I would like to nominate my single daughter who is raising 2 little girls ages 3 and 7. Both girls are somewhat challenged. The 7yr old has a speech problem, had both legs operated on at age 3 because of severe bow-leggedness. The baby girl is extremely hyper with speech problems.
She worked as a CNA for 5 yrs and was layed off in 2006. She fell down the stairs of her apartment bldg and had surgery on her left knee. While the next year she had surgery on the right knee to remove a tumor that is only found in 3rd world countries. She never does anything for herself it is always her children and others.
The 7yr old father sends limited child support and the 3yr old father sends no child support. Neither of the fathers have any dealings with the girls. She does a great job providing for the 3 of them mostly from the 7yr old checks alone.
If you can’t help her, please pray for them. Thank you.

Where do I start? Well I would like to nominate my family… I am 26 years old, mother of five. I have a son Mason-6, Nikolas-5, 2 daughters, Haleigh-3, Julianna-2, and youngest son connor-1. I am a single mom, there father and I seperated after he decided he no longer wanted to be a dad after our youngest was born with health problems and we spent about 6 months in hospitals trying to figure out what was wrong. I worked full time and go to school full time trying to better our lives. I recently was laid off, lost my child care assistance, then our car. I am still attending school and only because of the little bit of help my mom can give I am staying with my head barely above water. With everything that has happend this past year I feel my children have had to go through alot. I would appreciate more than words could say if I could see my childrens eyes light up again. My 6 year old told me that even if santa can’t make it to our house this year that he is happy just to have me and his brothers and sisters. They are all good kids and I would be very greatful if I could show them that all there help and thoughtful things they do really do pay off! Thank you very much!

Dear Under The Tree,
I would like to nominate my step-sister Kristel Henigan and her fiance Chris Clouse. They are the parents of (7)children, (2)girls and (5)boys. My sister lost her grandmother and her mother a month apart. The only thing that keeps her going is her family. To see her kids happy would be the best gift anybody could ever give to her. As of August Kristel lost her job and Chris has been doing his best to take care of the family on his own. They have been unable to pay the mortgage on their home, but somehow they manage to keep smiling. I know they cant afford to do Christmas for the kids because they are doing everything possible to keep a roof over there head. They are very humble and loving people and normally they are the family that would give rather than recieve. So this year I decided that I would do more than just tell them how much I love them I would show them by writing to Under The Tree. Even if they are not the family chosen to recieve this blessing I know that they would appreciate me for thinking of them.. Thank you so much for the opportunity and thank you for helping families across the world. May God Bless all families in need.

I would to nominate my family for the 2009 Christmas giveaway. This year has a troubling time for myself and my 2 sons. I looked up and down for work every since I lost my job in 2008.I know that I’m no different then anybody else but I do try hard to make sure my boys are comfortable and happy. The little money I saved for a gift or two for them I had a spend when my grandmother fell ill two weeks ago. I don’t know how to explain to them that they might not have a christmas year.I would really be thankful to recieve anything to help and see them smile on that day. My boys are 6 and 13 my pride and joy.
Thank You

I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE MY SISTER CHRISTINA AND HER TWO CHILDREN SIERRA AGE 10 AND JORDAN 14. MY SISTER IS A SINGLE MOTHER WHO COULDN’T AFFORD TO PAY RENT ANY MORE AND HAD TO MOVE IN MY MY DAD. MY DAD IS DOING THE BEST HE CAN TO PAY THE BILLS TO COVER THREE EXTRA PEOPLE, BUT HE WASN’T GOING TO ALLOW HIS GRANDCHILDREN TO END UP ON THE STREET. SHE DOESN’T HAVE A JOB AND GETS PUBLIC ASSISTANTS. THERE IS NO MONEY FOR XMAS PRESENTS BECAUSE THE FATHERS DO NOT HELP. MY SISTER IS A WONDERFUL MOTHER AND WOULD DO ANYTHING SHE COULD FOR HER CHILDREN. I NOMINATED HER BECAUSE HER PRIDE HAS PREVENTED HER FROM ASKING FOR HELP THIS CHRISTMAS. I DO NOT LIVE IN NC BECAUSE MY HUSBAND IS A SOLDIER SERVING THIS GREAT COUNTRY. WE DO WHAT WE CAN TO HELP MY SISTER BUT WE HAVE THREE CHILDREN OF OUR OWN. I JUST WANT MY SISTER TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO ARE WILLING TO HELP PEOPLE IN NEED. IF THERE IS SOME WAY THAT MY SISTER AND HER TWO CHILDREN COULDHAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS IT WOULD GREATLY WARM MY HEART. I KNOW THERE ARE MANY FAMILIES WORSE OFF THAN MY SISTER BECAUSE AT LEAST SHE HAS A ROOF OVER HEAD AND A FAMILY THAT WON’T LET THE CHILDREN GO WITH OUT SOME KIND OF CHRISTMAS, BUT IF THERE IS ANYWAY OF HELPING HER GIVE HER CHILDREN A BETTER CHRISTMAS IT WOULD SO BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CONSIDER MY SISTER AND HER CHILDREN.

I’am typing this to you with such shame. I’am the proud husband and father of 6 children (ages 2,4,6,9,12,13). I have had a longtime career which I have sacrificed 27 years of service for the company often putting my children and my wife of 17yrs second in hopes to climb the ladder of success even higher. Even though we lived in a beautiful “picture perfect” home ….I reluctantly moved my family 12 states away from our entire family and friends…..I cashed in to our 401K and drained our account to $0 believing this was the right decision for us to “grow”. Thursday I came home to have to tell my family that the company let me go….taking away everything including my car ….I cant even think of how I will make ends meet, where will my family live ect. My wife does is doing everything she can from cutting coupons/ to all the sites she navigates to save us money in every way she can. This past year has been such a financial struggle and Its hard to see what I have put my family through,It would just be nice to not have to worry how we will afford where the gifts will come from. My wife has strong faith and is a firm believer of paying it foward, no matter how much we struggle she often goes out of her way to volunteer and help others. I know we are not alone in our situation and I’am sure this is going to be a difficult decision with lots of deserving families this season. It would be a huge Blessing if you would consider our us.
~Thank you & God Bless

I have tears in my eyes reading all the nominations. I know this will be a hard choice for you ladies.
I would like nominate My brother and his family. My brother and his girlfriend just recently both lost their jobs just barely making rent this Nov. They called the other day to ask for money because their electricity is shut off due to no payment.
My brother just recently was able to take custody of my niece who is 11 yrs old.(her mother abandoned her again and finally let her go back to her father-poor girl has had an awful tough life) He and his girlfriend also have a daughter together who is 3 yrs old. His Girlfriend has a daughter who is 12 from a previous marriage.
They live in a old trailer home that I recently visited. I cried when I left. Although they try to make it homey and keep it clean they barely have a solid floor to stand on.
I know that my brother would be very grateful, as I would be if they could just get an item for each of the girls.
Ages 12, 11, 3
Thank you for the kindness and generosity.

I would like to nominate a family I know of that has two little girls, ages 8 and 11. Their father is in prison, third year incarcerated now, and their mother and step father are without work. The step father can barely support this family and the father is without means to send them presents. The incarcerated father’s mother is 69 years o and works part time to help support him while in prison and does the best she can to buy presents for these little girls as they get very little. They don’t even have birthday presents due to the financial constraints. They live in rural America and are a classic example of the family of today suffering through the bad economic times. The little girls lost their mother once (long story) only to lose their father and regained the mom and step father unexpectedly. Their only light are their grandparents who are barely afloat on social security and her part time job. This would be the best Christmas for them if their grandparents were able to help.

I would like to nominate my own family. My husband is no longer able to work due to several illness including CHF, Diabetes, Pulmonary Disease…thats just to name a few. We are going into our 5th month waiting to hear from Disability as to whether or not he is accepted. Im working one fulltime job and 2 part time jobs and we still had to borrow money from family to get groceries and his prescriptions. My 10 year old is soooo good about everything, I just want her to have a decent Christmas. Thank you.

I would like to nominate my children. They are two of the brightest, sweetest young girls you could possibly meet. All the while I struggle working 2 jobs to hold my home afloat they never complain even though I see the disappointment in their eyes, when I have to say no to a school sport activity my oldest really wants to do, or a special snack item my youngest wants, just because every extra dime goes toward the most basic foods and necessities. While I am lucky to be healthy and count my blessing to have healthy children, I would love to see that special smile and sparkle in their eyes to wake up to a wonderful Christmas morning! My daughters are 8 and 5 and I can’t help but think I only have a short while longer for them to believe in the “miracle of Santa” and these special girls truely deserve that miracle moment.

I would like to nominate my daughters family. Her children are 3 1/2 and 8 months. My daughter and son in law are having a very tough time. About a year and 4 months ago my daughter fell and hurt her back while she was 2 months pregnant. This left her in horrible pain for the duration of the pregnacy leaving her with terrible back and leg pain causing her to not be able to work. They have tried treatment with the last option being surgery(which they can’t afford due to no insurance). She’s tried to find work but with the condition of her back(when she walks it causes her legs to go numb)noone will hire her in her which is heartbreaking considering she had a wonderful fulltime job of ten years they didn’t want to work around her condition. Her husband works up to 85 hours a weeks sometimes to try to make ends meet.If you could help them this christmas it would make them so happy. Thanks for your consideration.

I don’t even know where to begin. Well here goes I am the widow mother of 3 daughters ages 16, 14 and 13, its been a very hard time for me, my husband was murdered 13 years ago at that time we found out that I was two months pregnant with now my 13 old daughter. I have been struggling every since, I have been working but no job has been permanent full time, its always been temporary jobs. My children I love them to life, they are the most greatful and thankful children I have ever seen. So many years go by and they ask for small things even if I can not get it them they don’t grip, complain or fuss, for that I am greatful. This is one year I wanted to find someone that would be able to help me with somethings that would take the burden off of me. It’s hard when rent, utilities etc has to be paid. Well I am greatful that I came upon your website, and if you are able to help me or not, I am greatful that prayerfully you will be able to help someone. God Bless you all.

Wow this is tough. I’d like to nominate our family. We have 5 children ages 17, 12, 9, 3, and 2 months. This year has been tough for all of us. We were all excited to have our 5th baby in Aug. A month later Daddy was taken to the emergency room for Heart failure. He is home now and working to recover as best as a man can with heart failure. As you can imagine Daddy was our bread winner. We home educate our children but I am working a part time job. (Finding work is tough in this day) Daddy is limited what he can do as far as physically. Which is bad for a man working in a lumber company. With those restrictions work sent him home. We have tried unemployment but since he isnt available to work so far he has not qualified. Our joy of a new baby has been hampered. Yet I still have hope and a light for this little one. As time goes where our next dime is coming from is getting scarier and scarier. Somehow God has provided for our family. Our friends have been a wonderful support. We are hoping for a miracle for christmas. My 17 year old knows whats happening and understands. Baby is to small to notice but the 3 in the middle are going to notice. Yet I know they will accept it with grace and a smile. There are so many others in need. It is soo hard to ask.
God bless

Having been a young single mom I know the true spirit of the holidays and the unknown gifts that come from the heart of strangers in our time of need.
This is a fantastic program that has been created here. I wish, I could, take each and every family in need under a protective and providing wing. I’ve been there….and I’ve never forgotten the feeling and the gifts that were bestowed upon my family.
I’m ready to shout it from the rooftops, bring as much attention to this program as possible.
Gonna start with my blog and work my way from there…
To the families in need, please know there is hope, genuine hope, to those able to provide something to these families, a whispered thank you for taking the time and for caring.

There are 3 families I would like to nominate and If our nomination was chose would like to split it amongst the three of them. One is my daughter (20) she is a single mom and is working and going to night school to better herself, we are so PROUD of the amazing work she has accomplished and I know she sacrifices and does not have much to give her daughter this year. However we had to move 12 states from her and our grandbaby (2) and would love to be able to help them finacially, however raising 7 other children and the finacial burden of the recent move and myself losing my job….we just cant help.
Another family is a new family we recently met, the mother recently lost her job, the father is working 80 hrs a week to pay the bills and they just cannot get caught up, she is also trying to go to school while they have a 2yr old daughter at home.
And the last family is a VERY close family to us they have 5 children, and thier home is going into forclosure, I know the stress that they are feeling and I just wish there was someway we could help with other than preparing and bringing meals here and there. It breaks my heart to not know if their children are going to be celebrating Christmas in their home or somewhere unknown 🙁
I wish I could help them all. Like many of us they are all struggling and it hurts to watch when you cant help the way you want to…. I just pray that they can all have an enjoyable Christmas.

I want to nominate a special very special family. I had a child with a man who also had a son before our relationship. She and I had not really known one another in the years prior to the passing of our childrens father. He passed away due to addiction. She and I had made the decision to keep the boys together as much as possible. So they may always have eachother. Over the last year we have become very close. Her and her family and Myself and myfamily have merged families. Through all our trials I have learned how amazing this family is. One girl 10 3 boys 17 15 9. They have had to file bankruptsey on their house. Cant find steady employment. Have only 1 good running car.Her husband works and goes to school trying to get a better job. They struggle so hard. But through their struggles still find time to help the community. Just today telling me about a fundraiser to send care packages to soldiers. And in the same breath telling me how she has hopes her husband gets a deer so they may have enough food for winter. I wish I was able to help them. But I myself am a single mother of 3. My only christmas wish is for them to get some help..Anything would help. Thank you for reading my story.

I would like to nominate someone I know who has 2 children, a son and daughter ages 6 and 3 respectively. She fell in love once and had a child only to have her first child’s father neglect her and her son. She decided to make something of herself and decided to go to school. While in school, she fell in love with a man whom she married, yet determined she finished school and got her associates degree. That man became a father to her son and they had a daughter together. As time went on, things went really wrong where physical as well as emotional abuse caused her to have to leave him. Still not giving up and wanting to provide a good life for her children, she had no other choice but to live in public housing, but found a job as an insurance rep for which she had to come up with money to self educate and pay for the certificate. She completed this, but wasn’t making enough sales and was consequently laid off. Now she has a son with a father who’s not paid child support since July and a daughter who’s father has sent less and less money as time has gone on. She has a truck and doesn’t know if she’ll be able to keep it because of the payments, but she’s receiving some help from her father who is a stroke victim paralyzed on one side. I would really like to see this happen for them. They’re going through so much. Thanks for reading.

I would like to nominate my Sister in law. She is a single mother of one child age 21/2. She is only able to work a few hours a week, and barely able to provide essentials let alone christmas gifts to her child. I know she did not even get anything last year. even one gift would be great.

I want to nominate my sister. She, her husband and her family have had a very tough year and still are. At the beginning of the year they were evicted from the home they were renting. And in the middle of the summer their truck was repossessed which was the only vehicle they owned to transport the family from point A to B. My BIL has his own lawn care business which just is not thriving at all. Every time they turned around they were putting money into fixing the old lawn care equipment just to keep the business going. They just are not getting enough to make ends meet. Just recently their phone was shut off and television service. They can barely pay the rent now. Trying to buy diapers is always a struggle. So forget about Christmas. They have 5 boys. Their ages are 15, 11, 5, 2 and their 5th boy who is actually turning 1 years old on Christmas Day. I known they could really use some help. My sister has always kept the faith. She lives and strives off of faith because she knows that God is the only one who is going to get them through this. My BIL just got a full time job because with the winter. . . the lawn care business will be very slow. They have a lot of catching up to do and it is going to take them a very long time. The rest of the family tries to help but there is only so much we can do. I hope that 5M4M can show these kids a wonderful Christmas that they so deserve. Thank You. 5M4M you are a true blessing.

I would like to nominate the family of my husband’s sister. They are wonderful people with a family of five children (two daughters ages almost 12 and almost 10, and three sons ages 8, 5 and 2). My brother-in-law was working for a home builder when the housing market crashed. The company kept him on as long as they could, but due to the awful housing market in California was eventually forced to let him go.
My brother in law just got his 3rd part time job (meaning working 3 jobs right now) in order to provide the basics for his family and not lose their home. I know that Christmas will be a huge struggle for their family, and this would be such a blessing for them. Please consider choosing their family. They are hardworking people who lost so much in the current economic downturn and truly deserve some help this Christmas season.
Thank you 🙂

I want to nominate a family whose son attends my daughter’s school. The family of 4 was driving home from a vacation and was involved in a car accident. The mom died at the scene of the accident. The dad survived, but is in a coma. The two kids, ages 5 and 7, both survived and have numerous broken bones. The two kids recently learned that their mother died in the accident. The dad doesn’t know yet, since he is still in a coma. The whole situation is so tragic…and I am sure will make the upcoming holiday season very difficult.
