. . . the book or the movie?
When a blockbuster movie comes out based on a bestselling book, do you read the book first? Does the movie make you want to read the book? Or does seeing the movie satisfy your curiosity about the story?
5 Minutes for Books contributing editor Lauren tackles this issue in our Books on Screen column today. She has always had a strict policy regarding this issue, but could something have changed her mind?
This is a no brainer….always read the book first. A movie, no matter how good, can never capture all the emotions, sentiments and passions in a book.
It all dpends I guess. I LOVE to read. If I see the movie first, I will be sure to read the book. If I read the book first, seeing the movie may disapoint me; as they NEVER get it right, LOL! 😀
The only movie I haven’t been disapointed in that is based on a book is the A&E version of Pride and Predjucie. I may even be so bold to say that it is better than the book. 😉

Back when I had more time, I would say book FIRST! But lately I haven’t been getting many novels read, so I would say hand over the movie and the popcorn baby!
I prefer to read the book first because I will never read the book after I see the movie. It’s a mommy shortcut to reading the book if you see the movie first.
