Superheros Eat Goat Cheese

Teresa, 5m4m contributor shares her insights on Zutano and Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery. We were compensated to write this post, however all opinions remain our own.

Have you ever read a story that simply touched your heart? This happened recently when I was reading about something that I adore eating. A Vermont based company, Vermont Creamery. They started their business with a few thousand dollars and an incredible desire to produce all-natural fresh and aged goat cheese.

The wonderful news is they succeeded and succeeded well! They recently teamed up with an amazing local company, Zutano, that makes gorgeous children’s clothing. Both companies are sharing their passions for making exceptional products.

I received some delicious goat cheese from Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery to sample, and let me be honest here and say that I was hard pressed to share with anyone. Goat cheese happens to be a cheese I adore. I introduced my husband to it when we were dating and he’s been hooked ever since. It happens to be one of the few cheeses that ever grace my fridge as well. My family is mostly dairy free due to children with dietary restrictions because of sensory issues.

Goat milk contains only minute amounts of casein and is naturally gluten free. Goat cheese is also extremely easy to digest. The fat globules in goat’s milk are smaller and do not cluster together, making goat milk products easy to digest, even for kids with lactose intolerance. The most important aspect to me is goat cheese is less allergenic, which my sensory based children need.

The importance of calcium for growing bodies has been widely discussed for years. I often get comments about what do I feed my children if I do not provide dairy. What is a misunderstood is that we simply do not eat cow dairy and we eat loads of green vegetables which are loaded with calcium.

Goat milk products are often overlooked in the conversation, however, did you know goat milk products are higher in calcium and protein and lower in fat and calories than cows milk. One ounce of goat cheese delivers 4% the daily recommended value of calcium and 5-7 grams of protein.

If you are not aware, fresh goat cheese is an incredibly versatile, mild-tasting option for kids. My children gobble it right up. How can you not, goat cheese has such a mild taste and is great for my picky eaters.

I also adore the neighboring Vermont company, Zutano,  that shares the same passion for making exceptional products. Zutano is a company that I discovered when my first child was a baby and was in desperate need of the softest clothing due to his sensory issues.

Zutano creates a line of superior quality clothing and accessories in a rainbow of colors and prints, that are inspired by a love of babies and the belief that every child’s individuality can be celebrated.

The company believes that business has a responsibility to appropriately manage and protect the environment and community through respectful holistic practices locally as well as globally. Trust me, Zutano creates the most adorable clothing around!

These two amazing companies have teamed up and are offering a giveaway during the month of June. For more information on the giveaway, the nutritional details of goat cheese, and additional recipes, please visit their website at www.vermontcreamery.com.
