Our Trix Swirls Creative Kid Video Contest Finalists

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to enter our Trix Swirls Creative Kid Video Contest! I hope your kids enjoyed the Trix Swirls as much as we enjoyed watching your videos!!!

To recap for our readers — A few weeks ago we sent out boxes of the new Trix Swirls cereal to some lucky readers. Those lucky taste testers then made and submitted videos of their kids answering the question: “How did those fruity colors get swirled together?”

After viewing all of the video entries we narrowed it down to 10 finalists. Let me tell you, you guys did not make our job easy when it came to narrowing it down! They were all so great!!! But we managed to do it and are excited to present to you our Trix Swirls Creative Kid Contest Finalists (in random order).

Now the really tough job is on you, our readers! We want you to watch all 10 videos and vote for your favorite. Look for creative! Look for entertaining! The finalist with the most votes by Friday, September 4, will win the grand prize of $1000 and our runner-up will receive $300!

Please note: Democracy poll allows one vote per ip address!

If you are a finalist, please feel free to announce it on your blog, Facebook, Twitter or other social network site, that is fair game. But please play fair and do not use proxy servers or other black hat methods of increasing your votes. If we do discover unfair practices, we will have to disqualify the parties involved. Remember the spirit of our site and play nice!

Stacey is a chocolate addict! Especially dark chocolate!!! When she's not indulging in chocolate, she tries to parent her two very energetic girls and their even more energetic Boxer. She loves writing, spending time with her husband, watching Jeopardy!, and checking out the latest in tech and gadgets. In the time when she's not doing all of that stuff, she is plotting world domination and trying to convince her husband that they need to move somewhere warmer!

  11. uncleray: Thank you so much for watching Jake’s video and appreciate your kind comments! Jake is very talented and a natural behind the camera, which is why we thought he should enter the contest, though he sees a future in marine biology more than acting. Not only can he tell an amazing story in English, by himself, unscripted, with “big” words – although in a family of engineers, scientists and Ivy League grads we don't really consider “test tube”, “rampage” or “theories” to be big words – he can do it in 3 languages; he is tri-lingual. That is actually average in his school, but we are still very proud! I am sure all the parents here are proud of their little ones. 🙂 Great job everyone!

  13. The boy in Jessica's video is talented and certainly has a future in acting, but my conscience tells me that the entire bit was written, coached, costumed, and props were prepared by Mom. How many ~6 year old kids naturally use words like rampage, test tube, and tornado in Kansas in the same sentence? For raw, unfiltered/original performance, my vote goes to Amanda.

  19. I totally agree with you Vana, 100%!!! I have to tell you, totally and completely honestly about the “5 min break quip” on my life, i did not prompt that, either way i know it doesnt matter because the rules were to be creative, but i laugh thinking about it because he did come up with this on own and i was shocked. We talked before shooting the video, he is a somewhat serious little one and gets “into” the process. He wanted to know, who, what, where and why. I explained that, 5 Minutes for Mom's was hosting this contest, what the rules where, the judging the whole process at length…and this was what he came up with. I think he thought that 5 Minutes for Mom was working with Trix, to give them a break from sorting out all the colors according to child likes and dislikes, because he does that and by swirling them, the mom just pours and moves on 🙂 . Anyway, the contest was fun, he had a great time being creative and being his theatrical self.

    I hope all the participants in the contest realize that if they don't win, it may simply mean that some people had more contacts than others.

    I enjoyed watching all the clips, but the vote count I observed didn't necessarily reflect what I saw in the clips.

    In the first video there was no visible or audible parent prompting on camera, but would he have written a script that included a “5 minute” quip? (He did a great presentation, though!)

    It would be great if there was a way to have a contest where the voters could just vote on the quality of a clip, without other influences affecting the outcome!

    Each clip that highlighted the creative mind of a child(ren) is a winner!

    I love #9 because of the presentation and the way the little boy described how the colors came together. The darling little girl just loved eating them. This video is my favorite.

    Yes it is sad, i do agree its a crazy world out there, and some people don't have faith in the process and step out of it for a moment, if we all had more faith and actually used it, the world would be such a nicer place. This is supposed to be fun contest for the kids no matter what. There is a nice piece on this site about faith, everyone should read it and breath and celebrate that we have these kinds of opportunities to participate in. Have fun with this, the old fashioned way, tell your school mates, get on your blogs, its about connecting with old and new friends and sharing in the process. For the IP issue, its trackable, so doesn't really matter anyway.
