Beauty and the Beast has arrived for the first time on Blu-ray Hi-Def as the second installment to the company’s new Diamond Collection.
The Blu-ray transformation reveals the magic, music and majesty of the film as never before experienced with state-of-the-art picture restoration, pristine 7.1 Digital Surround Sound and hours of additional viewing experiences that include behind the scenes features, deleted scenes, enhanced music tracks, immersive games and more.
The first of only two animated films ever to be nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Picture (the second is 2009’s Up), Beauty and the Beast earned six Academy Award® nominations and won two Oscars® in 1992 for Best Original Song (“Beauty and the Beastâ€) and Best Original Score.
Unavailable in any form since 2003, Beauty and the Beast will be released from the Disney vault for a limited time only, arriving on a Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack (2 Blu-ray Discs + DVD) October 5th, followed seven weeks later with the release of a 2-Disc standard definition DVD on November 23rd.
Beauty and the Beast is by far my favorite Disney animated film. I love the story, characters and music. I even saw Beauty and the Beast on Broadway years ago, and it was spectacular! We have had the movie on VHS for some time now, but watching it with my children on Blu-Ray is wonderful. The transformation is truly magical. It’s the movie I have known and loved, only better!
This is definitely one that I will cherish and hopefully keep protected from my two-year-old’s sticky fingers.

My favorite song is Be Our Guest. I admit, though, that that’s because it’s the only one I can think of. I’d like to watch again to find out which one I *really* like best. 🙂
My favorite song is the one at the beginning as she is walking through the village. I don’t really know what it is called except Belle’s song. It gets stuck in my head and I sing it all day!

It finally happened. My 4-year-old fell in love with the Disney Princesses. She even told me yesterday that she wishes she were a “REAL princess.”

This, I’m pretty sure, is my favorite Disney movie of all time! My favorite song would have to be either Belle, from the beginning of the movie, or Beauty and the Beast, from when they are in the ballroom!

There’s Something there that wasn’t there before…
I have not seen it, actually, like many of the Disney films until recently when we started to watch them with my 3 year old. I feel like a reborn kid discovering all these films, and the joy of a 3 year old watching them for the first time is amazing. Cant wait to add this one to our list of films watched together.

I absolutely loved the “Be Our Guest” number the best!
This was my favorite story when I was a little girl (albeit not Disney’s) because the Daddy was getting a rose for his daughter, yet there was tragedy and triumph in it all, and I was hooked. I remember having my Mom read Beauty and the Beast to me as often as she would and for the longest time (as a child) I carried around a raggedy well worn copy of a pop-up book edition.
I’d love to share this movie with my daughters, even though I wonder about the message inherent in loving the “beast”. 🙁 I think it is one for discussion…

The Beauty and the Beast story is never ending. Actually, with all the fairy tale stories we have for me Beauty and the beast is the most dramatic and meaningful. I am already 30 but I still love it and until now I keep on watching it but of course with my kids already.
I have Tale as Old as Time stuck in my head now, just from reading this post! 🙂 I LOVE this show, have seen it off Broadway and it was awesome (especially the part where our drama class got to go backstage!)
