One Corner at a Time… |

I am attempting to reorganize my storage room in our basement. This is a huge task, exacerbated by the age old problem of too much stuff! So right now my basement is covered in boxes, containers etc as I try to get to the bowels of the storage room to begin the process of removing items. Anyway, I am so far from done it is depressing, but I need some relief – something to celebrate for Tackle It Tuesday. So, today I abandoned the storage room and I scrambled to restore order to the basement play room. One side of it has been in disarray for months. Stacks of books have been waiting (since a little flood we had) to be sorted and put on shelves etc. This pile has “collected†toys and become a huge pile! It is so depressing that I don’t go down there and only my son and husband play down there. Time to tackle it!!! Try to not be too disgusted by the chaos, as I said, I have not let anyone see it in this condition. |

Excellent job on the playroom! I have a bunch of Before and After photos and if Blogger ever stops eating my posts, I’ll do a Tackle It Tuesday post.
Done! YEAH, and it’s been fun checking out all the other jobs that got done. Must say, Janice, this has been a VERY motivational system. You know that pat on the back, that agnolegment (sorry for the spelling there) that we miss for those mundane jobs that JUST NEVER END or are NEVER NOTICED?! Well, here they are! Thank you, thank you thank you! I am surprised how it has affected my mood that such a dull job got noticed.

You did a fabulous job on that room! I love your shelving too. That is a big problem with our playroom, not a whole lot of storage spaces. In fact that will be one of my tackle it’s when I get the shelving to organize it! Good Job Girl! 😀

Dana, I have to finish mine early because I work on Tuesday mornings–and I want to be sure my Blog is ready and waiting early in the day! (It isn’t cheating. Think about it–if this motivates you to do that long-put-off project, who cares exactly when you do it?)

That’s awesome. I won’t accomplish anything near that today with work… but hey, I have one coming, trust me: I have a roomie moving in so I have to EMPTY a whole room!!!! Ahh!! So pray that I’m as skilled as you are at organizing, cleaning, and working miracles with space.

My mouth dropped when I saw that second photo! Great job! Wow! (And I don’t think the top photo looks so terrible. It looks like a home with children!) BTW, do you ever watch any of the organization shows on TV, like Clean Sweep? They get big boxes and mark them “Keep,” “Toss,” and “Donate.” As you go through that storage room, you just throw things into the appropriate boxes. (Remember the OHIO rule: “Only Handle It Once.” Meaning you don’t move an item from one place to another just to pick it up again later. It goes into one of the 3 boxes.) The Donates and Tosses you get out right away. That leaves you with just the keep box, which is a lot less to put back and organize than that with which you first started! (I think I said that right.) Don’t worry, you’ll get the storage room done. It isn’t going anywhere, LOL!
You’re an inspiration to this clutter-challenged mom! I love the feeling of having even a little piece of my world clean, tidy and organized. That’s why my latest childrens furniture purchase for our kids’ room was a great set of storage bins. They really help keep everything off the floor and the room looking great.

Wow – you tackled a huge project in deed. Mine seem always so small. They are always taskes though that I could stay on top off, if I would.do.them.on.a.daily.basis. I get so frustrated with myself…
