Jars of Clay

Dosed up on Diclectin, my purse stuffed with packs of soda crackers and a ginger-ale hidden in my coat pocket, I went out last night! My friend Linda and I went to see Jars of Clay in concert. Woohoo! It was great to get out of the house and have some fun.

I bought the tickets weeks ago before I started feeling so sick, and all week I wondered how I would make it through the evening. But surprisingly I felt alright. I nibbled crackers, sipped ginger-ale and had a fantastic time. We were in the second row and had a great view. (I snapped this shot with Linda’s camera.)

I love going to concerts! Before I became a mom, Susan and I went to tons of shows. But now I feel too guilty spending so much money, so I only go to a few. In the old days, I would go to more than half a dozen a year – but since I had Jackson I think I have only been to about 5 or 6. So I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to relive my past and get out to see a concert.

Jars of Clay put on a great show – have you ever seen them live?

If not, check and see if they are coming to your town. If you have teenagers, it would be a great show to bring them too.

If you have never heard of Jars of Clay – here is a video of their hit “Flood” from their first album. Enjoy…

Their jars alright. I wonder about the content.

  2. Well, I crawled out of my cave and listened to Jars of Clay. My goodness, they’re wonderful and I’d never even heard of them. Sigh. I can’t remember the last concert I went to but it may have been Willie Nelson, you know, way back before his hair turned gray. So thanks for letting me share a little of yours with you. LOL

  6. pleased you had fun 🙂
Concerts seem to have sky rocketed in price from when I was a 17 year old. In those it was affordable to go now its not here in NZ anyway

  7. So glad you were able to get out and enjoy yourself. DH loves Jars of Clay…just bought their latest CD to take on our vacation.

  8. Jars in concert are fab. I’ve not seen them in many years but enjoyed getting out and seeing their shows.
I’m new to your site, but have been catching up (glad you’re feeling better!) and hope to participate soon!
    Take care!

Before we moved, we went to Harvest Church in Riverside, CA. The downside? 16,000 attenders, and never getting to know a single one of them. The upside? Big ticket singers every Sunday morning in the worship service. Crystal Lewis, Jars of Clay, Katinas…so many other big name Christian artists perform there for free every Sunday. It was nice:-)

Godd for you for getting out and having a great time. With all the stress in your life lately- you deserve it!

  10. I adore Jars of Clay! Glad you got to attend the concert and enjoy yourself…all moms need a little fun time away.

That is so great you were able to go! Before I got married & had kids I went to TONS of concerts… that’s all I spent my money on! I am in need of a good concert or play or something!!!

  12. Lucky you getting a night off! What’s your secret?
    Best wishes

I love Jars! I’m so jealous that you got to see them in concert. They aren’t coming anywhere near me. The first time I saw them was in 1995 at a tiny tent at Cornerstone Festival…I think there were 15 people there. I haven’t seen them in years, though. Were they with Burlap to Cashmere? I’m glad you had a good time. 🙂

  14. Jars of Clay would be a GREAT reason to venture off the couch! I am so glad you got to enjoy them! Looking at their schedule, we need to introduce them to the southern portion of the United States — they aren’t getting anywhere CLOSE to me! But I do love their sound!
