With a female audience in mind, Dr. Hoppe makes a connection between a woman’s libido and her overall health, supporting the book’s eye-catching title. In addition to some basic suggestions for a healthy lifestyle in terms of diet, physical exercise and stress reduction, the author, an OB/GYN and medical researcher, also provides information about the roles that self-esteem, medications, health conditions, and communication all play in a woman’s level of sex drive. As a 30-something year old, I really appreciated the comprehensive descriptions of the typical phases of women’s libidos as they pass from the child-bearing years through perimenopause and menopause itself.
Honestly, the best content of this book is undoubtedly the references to the differences in male and female brains– I hadn’t given much thought to how differences in communication and multitasking could have such a significant effect on sexual health and libido. I truly appreciate when my nonfiction selections affirm my own observations and experiences!
While we as women may not always be comfortable discussing sexual health questions or concerns, reading a book that informs us, answers common questions and offers suggestions to benefit our overall health is certainly a welcomed opportunity. Dr. Diana Hoppe’s Healthy Sex Drive, Healthy You is just that book, and I’ve already pulled it off the shelf during conversations with more than one girlfriend!

Dawn’s book reviews tend not to reveal the personal details of her life, unlike the craziness on display at her blog, my thoughts exactly.

After a friend of mine recently went through a very trying time in her marriage, I have become more aware of my role as a wife pertaining to my husband’s greatest need. I would love to read this book. Thanks for the giveaway!

As a mother of two under the age of 3, I TOTALLY understand where you are coming from! I’d love to read this book to find out what my husband is thinking! {hehe!}
I would love a chance at winning this book!
I’m going through menopause I think the book could be helpful!
Recently my mom’s group at church had a guest speaker (an older woman in her 70s!) who teaches a class with her husband on Song of Solomon. She talked about how important sex is to a marriage (even in your 70s & 80s! lol). Needless to say is was a very interesting talk! 🙂 Since that session I’ve been more in tune to making my husband and marriage a priority even when the rest of my life feels swamped with stuff to do. This books looks like it would be a good one to add to my reading list even if I didn’t win it. Thanks for your review.
Wow I really could have used this book nine years ago and now having gone nine years without could still really use it. I may pick it up even if I don’t win it.
Sounds like a great book. Thanks for the giveaway!
Going through perimenopause right now, and I know that I would find this book quite helpful!!!
This sounds like a book I must read!!! “Our Bodies, Ourselves” is a good book to learn about various health issues pertaining to women. I also have a book on periomenopause that’s on my reading list. I think a healthy sex life is vital….as I see it, sex=life!!! Like that old saying: “if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it”!
I have my fingers & toes crossed, hoping that I’m one of the winners of this book. Not only would I read it and put it to good use; but I’d be sharing it with alot of friends I know are in desperate need of learning a thing or two!
I’m 42 now, and have noticed how my libido has changed over the years of my life. Don’t get me wrong; I love sex, and want it very much (too much, I’ve been told over the years); however, now facing the onset of menopause, I’m wondering which way I should be looking at that hill: up or down?
I think I may be picking this up…winning or not!
Sounds like an extremely helpful and interesting book. I would really like to read a copy.
Please count me in.

I would love to share this with my husband, if nothing but to site other examples of why women in general have bouts of low libido. Too bad its written by a woman, he’ll never buy it. Sorry, needed to get my rant in. I for one would like to read this.
I would like to read this book.

Definately an interesting title!
I would love to read this one! As a 40 Year old mom, of 2 kids under 6 it sounds as it will be very helpful.
Thanks for the chance!
I SO need this book – not to get too personal! ha!
Sounds like something I could use. I am only 25 but after that last pregnancy my libido has all but disappeared. I know it’s hormonal, but a book that can explain in a bit more detail would be great. I am far too young to be having sex drive issues. Personally I think 50 is too young for that. :0) It really is paramount to your physical and emotional health.
Would love to give this one a read!
Sounds like a helpful resource.
This really does sound like an interesting book. I’m also curious about what it has to say.
I would love to read this…so would my husband!
I am interested to see what this book has to say. I could benefit from reading this.
This book sounds like something I would enjoy reading. thanks for sharing.
Speaks directly to my struggle right now.
I alwasy find it interesting when books say that woman are embarassed or shy about this subject. I have found in my life and my choice of males around me that the roles are reversed and I am more bold where they are much more timid. I would be very interested in reading this book.
I really feel the need for this book at this time in my life. Thanks for the opportunity.
I’d like to read this.
I would love to read this book. I’m curious to see what it has to say.
This definitely sounds like something I would read. As a 40 year old hitting her peak I need all the info I can get on getting my groove back with hubby… accckkkk
