Its that time of the year.

Winter.

Cold and flu.

It seems like everyone I know right now is not only sick, but so are their kids. Currently, I have a husband and three kids who are sick with a cold. My boys missed school at the end of last week.     I carry hand sanitizer everywhere I go, take oregano oil pills, and drink lots of water! The oregano oil is my miracle pill, if you haven’t tried it look it up because you will.

    I get more sleep, stay away from the sick ones and take cold cocktails, which consist of echinacea and zinc.

    I make sure I always keep my hands wash and carry around sanitizer.

  14. I would say a positive attitude and LOTS of sleep. Coming home and going right to bed is worth it if it helps you from getting sick.

  40. I teach in a middle school and have beaten stomach viruses, flus, colds so far this year. I take zinc, vitamin C and garlic (anti-oxidants.) It really helps!

    I drink Emergen-C when I start feeling sick. It has more than just vitamin c and helps me feel better year round.

  45. I think it is the nature of mother’s to not let themselves get sick. There is a lot to positive thinking as we can’t be taking nighttime cold medicine and just crawling in bed. Babies need to be cared for and you want the kids to not catch what you have so cleanliness, fluids and healthy foods are all part of it. I drink a lot of teas. There are some homeopathic teas that are designed to help allergies, sore throats, getting the coughing under control and clearing the lungs. Tea and honey is great but I’ve found the remedy teas to be very helpful.

    One important thing I learned after raising 7 kids, and now with only my 2 younger boys at home ages 10 and 14, is to always be prepared. When my boys start complaining about not feeling well, I immediately give them some cough meds and Benadryl and make sure they get plenty of rest. Lots of fluids really help too. At this point I make sure the house is clean from dust and dirt as much as possible as we do have pets. Then I proceed to make home made chicken soup. While things are clean and the boys are resting, I use this time and rest myself. Together with my boys and husband we make it a relaxing day and things are generally back on track in a day or two. Healthy husband and boys is what keep me healthy and happy. I am very thankful for my husband as he is very good at helping me with the upkeep of the home.

    I’d love to try this! I wash my hands like crazy and use hand sanitizer when away from home. I’m constantly after my kids to wash their hands too. I’m a gramophobe! 😉

  76. My secret to staying healthy when everyone else is sick is eating yogurt daily for the probiotics, drinking plenty of fluids, taking my vitamin, getting exercise and a few minutes to myself daily. I also use a saline rinse if the house is one big cold virus.

    One thing I do is use the wipe things for my grocery cart in the store’s. I don’t want everyone else’s germs.

    1. Angela, AMEN. If they don’t have em, I give them both barrels about it. I also carry my own wipes in an emergency. Some of the carts are super icky in certain places.

  79. I just got over a cold and have one sick kids. As a teacher, I am being coughed on or around all year long. I would love to try this product. I try to eat well and use the hand sanitizer and Lysol spray when the coughing gets too bad.
