When tragedy hits a family in the blogosphere, bloggers rally and reach out with links, comments, prayers and support. Even when it happens to a blogger whom we haven’t “met” before, it still feels as if it were “one of our own” who is in need. This cyber support is a beautiful blessing that comes from being part of this community.
Today, I got an email from Steph, letting us know about this family’s tragic accident. Their precious baby girl, Camille, drowned in the family hot tub on Friday. (A spa they had only had for 5 days and had not yet protected with a gate.)
Now their littlest daughter is gone. Her parents and three big sisters will have to go on without her. It is heartbreaking.
When I clicked over to the site and read the news, I gasped in horror. Jackson asked me what was wrong and, “Who is that baby?”
I pulled him onto my lap and hugged him tight. As I rocked him, I told him what had happened to little Camille. Jackson choked up and I comforted him as we grieved for a family we don’t really know.
This family’s story has impacted us – it has made us hold each other even tighter and has made us send prayers as if they were family.
It has also reminded us of the dangers that loom as summer approaches.
Last year, Susan had a scare with Julia. Even with Susan in the pool with Julia and holding on to her, Susan got distracted by a conversation and Julia almost drowned!
Please head over to A Daily Scoop and let them know that they are in your thoughts and prayers.
